Nest being a round thermostat replacing a rectangular one doesn't work very well.

So, buying a smart thermostat is for the convenience of being able to use an app anywhere to control the device. Unfortunately the app is offline more than it is online. On tech support they act like it's a new problem, but if you google this problem, it's all over the place. They cant figure out the problem after many calls and even replacement, just in case it was faulty. Even tech support for my router couldnt solve the problem.
Now I have a 150.00 paperweight.

The Nest 3rd Generation Thermostat is a sleek, smart, and user-friendly device that has significantly improved my home's climate control. Installation was straightforward, and it quickly learned my schedule, adjusting the temperature to maximize comfort and save on energy bills. The integration with Google Assistant and Alexa makes it super convenient, and the Nest app is easy to use, offering insights into energy usage and remote control. While the price is a bit steep and the learning curve takes some time, the overall performance and design make it a worthwhile investment.

Sexy features, but terrible quality

This purchase is my third Nest to die due to not sending the proper signals to the AC equipment. As a result, our outside compressor unit would run needlessly for hours and run up the electric bill...so much for saving energy as this thermostat promotes. Plus...this thermostat died one month out of warranty. I refuse to buy another one...total crap! I'm replacing it with a $25 Honeywell (not sexy) but it works and know it will for much longer than the nest.

I bought this in 2016 and had it professionally installed to connect to our heat pump. In 2017 in the summer, it failed to pump out cold air and kept pumping out hot air. Nest (at the time) sent a technician and fixed it. In 2018, same problem, but this time they said the unit was defective and provided a replacement, great! In 2021, it's happened again, and google was only willing to troubleshoot online and isnt willing to send a technician or cover any costs. It's a very nice looking piece of junk. I bought another one in 2020 for another part of house thinking the issues were behind me. They werent.

Hard to use and it doesn't always do what you want it to. Can be dangerous if you have pets at home. Needs to have more and simpler instruction. I resorted to u-tube, In warm climates it may be self defeating taking longer to cool down than to maintain

A convoluted mess to set up in an existing "Home" in the Google Home App. Scanning the QR code on the back of the device does not work. Adding manually does not work as the app asks for the device serial number but has nowhere to input the numbers. After researching the internet, the solution is some obscure work around and Google / Nest has ignored the problem for at least the last 2 years. I've been slowly migrating back to an Apple ecosphere after years away. This is one more reason why.

We travel a good bit and I wanted a thermostat I could control via connecting to the internet. Read the info/reviews on this one and bought it. Had it professionally installed for $90 by the folks that service my geo-thermal unit. Worked well for four days and then stopped. Tried various approaches to no avail. Called the installers and they said that they have heard similar issues. Had them come to the house and U.N.-install the unit — another $90. Got a Honeywell unit when I replaced the geo-thermal and it works PERFECTLY!!!

Appeared to be a hood unit but not compatible to my system with two zones. Needed to buy a new board for additional $160 decided to return unit. Make sure it’s compatible to your system before you buy
