Bought this to rave reviews. Started out being nice but it's more of a gadget than being a great thermostat. Yes it's nice being able to control via wifi on your smartphone, but I just started having way too many issues with it. Would come home and it would be 90 degrees in the house on a hot summer day. Would be blowing hot air when it should be cooling. Got to researching and numerous people were having this same issue. Called a HVAC tech and told me best use for these nest thermostats are in the trash. I tried and tied to really love this thermostat but just too many issues. I ended up going back to my old one, WITH NO ISSUES.

I would be SO content with this item if it supported Apple HomeKit, because the hardware is great! When I look at what's online regarding Nest's plans to support the HomeKit format, there's nothing. I'm planning to sell the item on eBay and get the Ecobee4.

I live in an apartment that was built 3 years ago. The connection type that I had did not work with this unit. Had to return it after hiring somebody to have a look at it. DO YOUR RESEARCH FIRST.

Best app controlled thermostat have three of them.

Purchased over Christmas sale. Paid professional air conditioning installation as we just purchased new home. Upon install they noted the turn over from cool to heat does not convert properly due to defect in unit. Called Best Buy. Since >14d since purchase (was not even unboxed until +30d after purchase) they would not refund nor replace + we paid the air conditioning company $100 service charge. Out $325 and no functional thermostat. WILL NEVER AGAIN purchase from Best Buy. Sad to say- as we carry the Best Buy visa and were prior loyal customers. No reciprocated loyalty to their buyers. We have since canceled-

This unit failed in less than one year. After 5 different support requests, the Google representative has agreed to sent me a replacement unit IF I agree to let them put a hold on my credit card which seems unfair. But now they also want me to establish an email account with Gmail instead of using my existing email. It seems Google is more concerned about you using their entire suite of applications than resolving their defective unit. Buyer beware.

We have a Bryant Furnace and Air conditioning unit. Does not work with Bryant nor a few other brands. Staff at Best Buy Eden Prairie were not aware of that and did not warn us. Please check before purchasing.

Too expensive to not be compatible with my unit, got tired of the ERROR and OFFLINE issues so I returned it!

Cannot use unless you have a newer efficient unit, this made our unit mess up bad

Mine went out after a year, and the customer service is pretty bad about resolving issues. I replaced it with a newer models last year and haven’t had a problem yet

This is so helpful now when remembering to adjust the thermostat is just one more problem of ageing in place.

I am currently not satisfied with the product. I purchased it at the end of June and installed it in July 3rd I think, and my electric bill has gone up more than 50% in June over the month of July and 45% more in month of August. I thought the first month might have been a learning curve, so I gave it another full month to see what would happen. I am uninstalling it and wanting to return it, however BestBuy says I am past my 45 day window and can't help me at all with an exchange or credit. So not only am I out $200+ dollars for the Unit, also out an extra $150+ for my energy bill. Needless to say , I am not a happy customer at all.

Google removed integrations with Samsung smart things, IFTTT, and other smart home products. No longer worth the price, go for an ecobee instead.

Learns my daily schedule and adjusts to save money well. However, does not work well with my wiring/ ac system.

It worked fine for 6 months, then lost wifi. Going through google nest chat to replace it is a log drawn out affair... each time the chat takes an hour or more. I say each time because they have sent me two replacement units and both are refurbished and have not worked. I would stay away.

I think this was probably really cool four years ago. The thermostat looks great but falls way short in performance. If your going to make the investment the HVAC manufactures remote thermostats are much more feature rich

Awesome. Took about 3 days to learn our preferences. No need to touch the thermostat ever again!

Returned this item, instructions were not included, you have to call an 800# (out of country), ultimately hire a professional. No plate included or sensor

I bought my first nest in July 2017 on a best buy sale. We were building a house so I did not need it for a while. When everything was ready 7 months later and we were able to use it, it would not turn on. After speaking with nest they told us to return it to best buy. Best buy refused the return, so I had to buy another thermostat. I went ahead and bought a nest again and this one worked. I like the thermostat, don't like best buys 14 day return policy. I would purchase this product somewhere else. I would recommend the product to a friend, not purchasing at best buy though.

Was told item was easy to install. Not the case. I have a 2 zone HVAC system. Current thermostats are battery operated. There was no power going to these thermostat therefore I could not use them. The Best Buy employees are not fully knowledgable in this product.
