I used the online wiring help and was sent a wireing diagram from Nest. When it was hooked up it would not start into the programing mode needed to use the thermostat.

It doesn't work, it's just working to be announcing Alexa's system. It forces you to open accounts.

I am a software engineer and like to play with gadgets. I've been using it the past winter and I'm impressed with the device. It just works. It is easy to install, just followed the instructions. Love the scheduling configuration though it could be a little more intuitive. Best feature is being able to control the thermostat from phone/website. One feature I wish they add is to always show the clock and current temperature. Looking forward to buy another one for my basement this year.

My advice is get a Ecobee4. The Google Nest has issues.

if you have a dual heat system, don't buy. There is no capability for the Nest product to receive sensing info to enable the heat pump/ oil furnace to work properly.

I hate the thermostat it keep going on eco mode even when I turn eco mode off it keeps doing it

It worked correctly at the beginning but in less than two years it has stopped working. Does not detect the power wire.

Worked for 2 days and I now don’t have access to it. It kicked me out of the system

So far I am loving it! I purchased the stainless to go with my items at the house, I love it, the wife loves it and the in laws are asking about. I live in Florida so ac is a must and always running, The thermostat before would always be off by a degree or 2 and can always hear the fan constantly running and the house to me would cool properly, Ive had to keep it down to around 73. That spiked our bill a lot during the summer months. Installation was a breeze, that website worked perfectly for it because you tell it what wires are hooked on your previous thermostat and it tells you where to connect them. Its a breeze and its awesome it comes with the tiny flathead as I didn't need to go out to buy one. You wont need it after that but its a nice tool to keep. Setup was cake and connected to wifi right away, downloaded app to iphone and can control it through my phone! The initial set up the thermostat takes a moment too cool since it is in its learning phase, but I could really tell the difference right away! I can keep the thermostat around 75,76 and its cooler than its ever been! I can already see saving money on a monthly basis, also check with your local power company to see if they can give some sort of break or discount, itll vary from area. I will follow up when I have owned it longer. So far I am in love! For the price, eventually I see it paying itself off and saving money! I mounted the unit to the wall and I patched and painted the wall so it looks clean, if you don't have the ability to do so, there is a cover you can mount that comes with the unit to hide any holes for a clean look

Did not work. Had to return. I had an a/c specialist attempt to install it and it still didn't work

Purchased for full price. Two days later, price was dropped. Best Buy refused to honor new, lower price.

Every time the electricity goes out, there are problems getting the NEST back up and running.

Was warned by my air conditioner repairman that this product will ruin my air conditioning unit by regularly turning it on and off.

I had just installed 2 2nd generation Nests and 3 weeks later this was released so I boxed them up and returned both to Best Buy and swapped them out for this generation version. Those of you who think there are no big differences in generations, you are dead wrong. This generation of Nest is thinner, larger more bold screen and has a Farsight setting which enhances the entire dial, noticing you from about 20 feet away looking at the thermostat. Plus it seems more intuitive and is just sleeker looking. What happened was Google bought these guys and said, lets update this product to make it look like a modern product put out by a Google company. Plus this syncs nicely with all 9 of my 2nd gen Nest Protects and is just a beautiful product. So go ahead and trade in your 2nd gen Nest Thermostat because you won't be sorry!

I live in Nebraska, so we have cold winters and hot summers. The NEST was bought as a household gift for the Holidays and it is awesome. My wife even loves it! Set up is pretty simple; just go to their website, watch a quick video and then see how your old thermostat is wired. Plug in old wires (usually 3-4) into corresponding new ports for the NEST. Using this in the first month has saved us $60 in the first month. (As compared to last years gas bill during the same month.) Our old thermostat was very outdated and we found that even the temperature was off by about 5 degrees after installing the NEST. It's also nice to turn your heat on with your smartphone using Wi-Fi (again, very easy setup) on those chilly mornings, before you get out of bed! Also, forget to turn off your heat or AC when you left for work? No problem, set it to "Away," mode using your phone and save money and energy. This product is worth the price and is fairly simple to set up. I recommend it to anyone who's looking to update an existing thermostat, save money and/or wants to help the planet by saving some energy.
