Love this thermostat! Customizable, saves u money on electricity bill and is very stylish! I would recommend.

I travel a lot for work and this has allowed me to save so much money and be energy efficient! Set up is easy and I was able to install myself. The app is great and I love being able to set the temperature I want before I get home.

Updated on 06Dec16 --------------------------------- In mid-November 2016, Nest updated it's software to create a new "eco" mode. I can no longer set my Nest to "away" and rely on it to stay away. No matter what I do, my Nest Protects pick up my cats' motion and turn my Nest thermostat back to home mode. This in turn ruins the energy efficiency benefits of the Nest and reverses the very reason I purchased this product in the first place. This was a HUGE mistake that may end up costing Nest a customer if they can't fix the software. This update broke all my integrations with the rest of my smart home and has caused me a lot of frustration. I want Nest to do what it did before the "improvement." When I set Nest away, I want it to use Eco temperatures and stay away until I, or one of my smart home integrations, change it back to home. Then I want it to run on the schedule it developed. I've spent 2-3 weeks discussing this issue with Nest support and have tried everything they recommended. My settings are correct for what I want to do. I want to keep Nest as part of my smart home, but having to go into the Nest app and change my mode to Eco on top of setting the rest of my home to away is a pain in the butt. Y'all want your 5 star review back? Fix this problem or reverse the software to the version that worked until you can get the new software working properly! Original Review ------------------------- I was skeptical about Nest's claims of energy efficiency when I bought the unit. However, ended up I deciding to give it a try because my energy company was giving a rebate. I'm so glad that I did! First off, I was surprised by how easy it was to install the unit. Not many people seem to know that Nest's customer support will send you customized wiring instructions if you send them a picture of your current thermostat's wires. After that, it was a matter of a screw driver and about 20 mins of work. I immediately started seeing energy savings that translated to an average of $50 off my monthly electricity bill. So far, I've managed to save a total of 1625 kWh of energy in the 3.5 months since I installed the unit. Even better, with the rebate the unit has already paid itself off! No regrets!

I could never go back to a normal thermostat after this, honestly it's very easy to set up yourself and I haven't had any issues with it

It is the best thermostat out there I am convinced. Do you really need it? Probably not you know when you are using too much energy but this helps you see it visually and making meaningful changes instead of ballparking.

I purchased a 3rd generation open box from eBay.The unit had a bad WiFi chip and bad battery.In fairness the seller did offer free returns.I choose to contact google for the warranty repair.The replacement they sent me had a bad battery and would not function properly.I’m currently on my 3rd nest unit,so far so good.Googles customer service was responsive but I have been struggling with this issue for 3 weeks now.I have a nest 2nd generation which I love which was the reason I choose to buy another.Based on my experience l have to say their quality is suspect at this point.

We love to see our Nest "greet" us when we walk by. The customer service department at Nest is excellent. They are there to help you and answer any of your questions. We're saving $$$$$ too ~ Bonus!

Very convenient. Love that it has a reminder to change the filter on the thermostat and on the app.

As a huge Google fan, I'll say for the most part I'm pleased with this product. The features and app are very well thought out. This thermostat is really cool, and easy to use. Looks great, feels solid, and add cool factor to a typically dull item. My biggest complaint is how easily the screen is finley scratched. Right after installing it, I wiped it down with a clean microfiber cloth and the screen was instantly covered in micro scratches. Not something I expect from a 250 dollar thermostat. Even the cheapest cellphones on the market have corning's glass that doesn't scratch as easy as this. With it being so easy to scratch, makes me wonder how cheap this thing really is.

Made our furnace work like it never has before. Our furnace is 20 years old. It was turning on and off constantly. The Nest seemed to solve that problem. Monitors usage everyday, love the way it works.

my old therm used to run constantly and I never felt like our house was ever as cold as it is now without hardly ever running the unit. Love being able to control the unit from my phone too.

This has been one of the best home items we have installed. We can keep the kids from messing with the settings and we get to save money by keeping the house within our comfort guidelines.

I love my thermostat. I have had it for a while and don't know how I would be without one. I love being able to turn heat or air on from another location in my house via the app

Buy this item. There is no reason not to, you can get rebates from almost any energy company, and it will pay for itself with how much it saves you in basically one year.

It's great when I'm meeting guests at my house and I'm able to control this from my phone so it's the perfect temperature when we walk in. Especially right now when it's 100 degrees out!

I enjoy the Nest Thermostat. It's easy to install and pretty intuitive to start operating right away. After a few weeks, it learns your patterns and saves energy while you are gone. It's also nice to have the app of your phone to see what it's up to and adjust the temperature while away.

Only isuue is the software on the device but otherwise a great product.

Most important thing to consider- check your thermostat wiring to confirm how many wires you have (typically 4 or 5). If you do not have a 'common' 5th wire to constantly feed power, the battery will die and no longer take a charge after about 1 year. It claims it will, but not the case; MANY will confirm this. I even tried swapping the battery, but had the same issue of it dying and no longer turning on my furnace. If you have 5 wires, it will constantly feed the power it needs and you should be good. They even have special "add-a-wire" kits to easily convert it to a 5-wire system. I highly recommend you get a 5th wire ran before setting up. Other than this common problem, it's a great product.
