    The google nest thermostat has worked well. After several weeks it starts to learn on its own which is a plus.

    It's a great thermostat - no doubt about it. However, a standard programmable thermostat is 90% as good at a fraction of the cost. The only time I would say this a must have is for someone with a second home or travels a lot. The remote monitoring/control is great if you aren't actually there much. I bought 4 of these for my 4 zones in my house. They work without a common wire, but you really should have one for charging the battery. This is a pain for many people and definitely makes it not worth purchasing if this is your situation.

    Very convenient and easy to change temperature with the app on your phone. Don't need to be near the nest, temperature can be changed even when you are not home.
