Great functionality, looks good and is simple to manage and install

I'm writing this review after my 5th purchase of Nest Protect. Needless to say, I'm happy. I bought this one for my mom, less than a month later, she knowingly left a pie in the oven and went to the post office...well the apple bubbled over and smoke filled the kitchen, no danger of fire, but I was able to bust my mom for leaving the house with the oven on.

It is better to be safe than sorry. I replaced my smoke detector in my main room and couldn’t be happier. My old smoke alarm would randomly beep. I replaced the battery and it still kept beeping??? I installed the new Nest protect and problem solved. Now is the alarm goes off I just waive my hand over it!! Knowing that my family is safe is all that matters.

I am so glad there is an alternative to the old fire alarms! This thing works perfectly! Easy to silence if you burn something in the kitchen!

In all fairness I could have given this unit five stars, but I am not sure it does what it is built for, and seeing how it's built to warn me about fires and carbon dioxide maybe it's a good thing. I really love the features though, you get a monthly email about the units and its activities and there I a small night light that works on motion. The one in my room has really been nice since it allows me to move around at night with it. I still have some of the other regular types in my house, and they don't do any of this. I should give it a five but I have to trust it to work when it really counts.

Similarly super easy to install (as was my Nest Thermostat), integrated seamlessly with my Nest application to provide additional comfort and security in my home, and over my family. Nest continues to impress with simple to install, simple to use, yet exceptionally valuable products.

When I was younger, our house caught on fire in the middle of the night so ever since then I have this fear of it happening again. This smoke detector gives me a peace of mind bc I always know it is working because it's lit up green and plus if I am away I will also be notified and the fire department will be called! Technology these days!

Easy to install and configure to my iPhone. Entire installation of my battery powered detector took less than 10 minutes. I installed this for my mother, who has forgotten to turn off the stove more than once in the past. Luckily I was there. But with this unit, I can monitor for her safety while away. Small price for peace of mind.

These are really great! Very very easy to setup and they all communicate together and also do an automated test in order. The way they light up when you walk under them one by one is really great especially when its dark. I purchased 3 total with one in the living room, hallway and master bedroom. I would recommend these to anyone.

The nest protect maybe the best design for a smoke detector out there. With the modern sleek look, it takes the cake. The only thing that would be my con is the price. For 99 greenbacks, it is the most expensive one compared to your kidde and honeywell detectors. It has a pahlight that lights up whenever you go to the fridge at night or the bathroom when you need to "drop the kids in the pool". Smoke detection is very sensitive and be careful to remove it before you do any renovations in the house or else it would just say "there is smoke in the house" even though there is none. Sensor failure is a known bug with this product so be on the lookout for it.

Haven’t really got to test it out yet with real smoke but everything seems to be working. The test alarm is nice and loud. Easy to setup and connect to the app. The nightlight feature got annoying because of the animals so we turned it off. Overall great product.

Expensive but worth it my eyes. love that i can get alerts when away if anything were to happen at home. replaced a 1st generation protect with this one. very happy with my purchase and 10yr life is good with this new model.

Bought new detectors as the Carbon Monoxide sensors in my 10 yr old Nest Protects expired. I like Nest products, these are very sensitive. Positive- I like how they are connected to my smart home. Con - I wish that you can program your own voice or alerts. After a handful of false alarms over the years - battery, needed to clean the sensors,, and toast, my dogs (and I) are traumatized. I have to make sure they are out of the house to test. It definitely grabs your attention which is what it is suppose to do.

Works great. Bought it to put outside the nursery and operates exactly as expected. Notifies you subtly prior to loud alarm and easily muted to prevent weaking our twin infants. Would recommend for any parent!

Easy to set up and install. Use it as a night light too!

This is an excellent product. It detects smoke really quickly when I was testing it and the best part the app also notifies your phone when smoke is detected. One option is also it has a ring light that you can use as phatlight at night. I recommend it.

Super easy to install and work very well. My son's fog machine set them off after Christmas. I lhave four in two houses and love that they are all visible on my nest app.

I bought 5 of these to fill in missing gaps in my house. Set them all up at once so was able to have them talk to each other and copy all the settings/passwords needed to finalize set up. My only complaint is that since the unit is square you have to be careful when mounting the unit. If you aren't paying attention it ands up crooked.
