This is my tenth nest protect.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have researched a number of smoke/CO2 detectors and the Nest Protect, by far, out performs them. The setup is easy, the form attractive and the functionality first-rate. Other alarms/detectors feel and look cheap but not the Nest Protect. It also includes a night light and a user-friendly app that enables you to control and monitor the performance of the detector from any where around the world.

Amazing Peace of Mind
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is what I was looking for and more. I almost died of Carbon Monoxide poisoning as a child and with a newborn at home this gives me peace of mind. The connectivity is wonderful. The design is simple, yet elegant. The nightlight feature is a more than welcome bonus.

Sleep restfully-Nest protects you
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My apartment has a wired smoke detector, but no CO2 detector in the unit. The hallway CO2 detectors are no longer functional because the property won't spend the money for the special "Gold" 9 volt battery replacement. Living in the Northeast where windows are closed during the better part of the cold weather months, the concern with CO2 levels is a factor not worth ignoring. The Nest smoke detector/CO2 detector is easy to install. To connect it with your Nest network requires a download of the free Nest app and adding it to your wireless network with a WEP key password. The Nest smoke/CO2 detector has added features of lighting your path, a helpful feature if mounted in a dark hallway, when you approach in low light and also glows green at final lights out to let you know that the batteries are OK and the detector is fully functional. The alarm is loud enough to wake the deepest of sleepers. Also, if you have other Nest products in your wireless network, such as a security camera and other Nest Protect Smoke/CO2 detectors throughout the house, they are all connected. This means that if a Nest Protect mounted in the basement detects smoke or CO2, all the others Nest Protects in the house also sound the alarm, and any Nest security camera on the network is turned on. All settings and personal preferences can be set on the easy to use Nest app. With Nest Protect, I sleep soundly.

Great device, pricey
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Liked the look of the device. It was fairly easy to set-up just followed the directions. Only thing I had problem with was connecting to the router, but I have had trouble with other devices in the past. Was able to figure out what I did wrong. Nice feature on device is the sensor that turns a night light on as you walk bye, also shows conditions in room.

Great and has a night light when you pass by
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great product. got the one with batteries, so it's easier to take when i move out. App works great. It has a night light that's detected by motion which is cool, so when you go to the bathroom or kitchen at night, you can see, but not super bright. Looking forward to see how the battery sensor on the app works.

Smoke alarm with smarts built in
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.A couple weeks ago, my one-year old First Alert alarms started going off in the middle of the night. After this happened two nights in a row, I knew it was time to throw those dumb alarms out and replace with something with a bit of a “brain”. I have known about Nest’s smoke detectors for a while so it was an obvious choice for me. And it became even more obvious after seeing that it had gotten thousands and thousands of 5-star ratings on most sites. So I jumped in and picked this battery operated detector. The setup was a breeze as was the installation which took about 20 mins. I love that the alarm speaks out its location so you don’t have to guess where the issue might be. The companion smartphone app is sleek and notifies you in case of it detecting smoke and/or CO. The night light feature is also very handy. I loved it so much that I immediately bought another set of 2 from wholesale store and replaced all dumb detectors in the house. I am very happy with it and would recommend it without hesitation to anyone. Yes it’s 3-4 times more expensive than First Alert but you get what you pay for.

Great Smart Smoke Detector!
||Posted . Owned for more than 2 years when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have an older home and the previous smoke detector wiring was not functional anymore. I have nest products in my home already so adding this to my home was a no brainer. Installation was easy and this now sits in my living area, just away from my kitchen. It is not too sensitive but every once in a while when smoke builds up from cooking it will alert me. Unlike other smoke alarms where you have to wave a towel or pillow cushion to disperse the smoke to shut off the alarm, the Nest smoke alarm only needs a simple touch of the main button to shut off the siren. Nest also conducts a monthly sound check to make sure the system is working properly which is an additional piece of mind factor and a big plus. Highly recommend this product, even if you do not have smart products in the home

MINE SAVED MY LIFE LAST NIGHT
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have had my Nest Protect for 5 years and it’s gone off for smoke before but last night it kept saying there was carbon monoxide. Sure enough the fire department identified 5-10x normal level of carbon monoxide due to a furnace leak in the business below my apartment. Long story short I’m going to buy two more to replace my old one!

Communication is Key!!!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I love that it communicates to each other all over the house. We have a part of the house, when the door is shut, we cannot hear any noise from that area. I was concerned if there was ever a fire, that I would never hear the smoke alarms. I know some electronic ones will beep all over the house too but you have no idea which alarm is activated. These all talk to you and this is no searching or guessing which alarm was actvated. Plus it contacts me on my cell phone, so if we are out of the house, we are alerted as well. Gives me a peace of mind.

Extremely Easy Setup
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this product for my condo and was able to have 2 units installed and configured within 1 hour. Extremely easy setup and the mounting hardware and app-based instructions were very intuitive. The motion-activated nightlight feature is a surprisingly valuable feature. It illuminates the ring as in a soft white color as you walk near it. It provides just enough light to help you safely navigate down the hallway without being too bright that it ruins your night vision or disturbs anyone else. The Nest Protect self tests and talks to you to verify that setup is completed and the unit is properly configured and monitoring. My main reason for purchasing the Nest Protect is because of my dogs. I wanted to make sure I have a way to be notified if I am not home (but they are) and something happens. Overall a great experience and so far I am very happy with the product.

Pricey But Functional
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This seems to be pricey but the sensor in this thing works a million times better than any smoke alarm I've ever had in terms of no false alarms due to kitchen tragedies or excessively long showers. In addition, it's hard to put a price tag on the benefit of all the additional features (path-light, testing remotely, voice warning before loud alarms,etc.). Having it "connected" also gives me peace of mind when not home that my house & pets are safe. End of the day, you'll get no "don't buy" complaints or warnings from me as I'm just happy with increased functionality, incredibly user-friendly installation, and peace of mind the product delivers for my personal needs/circumstance.

Excellent way to start a smart home
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like this smoke detector. The integration with the app is seamless and the functionality overall is superb. Price is a little high for a smoke detector of course but I would like to get more of them. It is at least worth having in your most high risk rooms in the house like a kitchen or basement.

Super Satisfied!!!
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Super easy to setup! Super user friendly for wife who's not tech savvy! Super convenient to test and silence with hand-held device! Super informative when there is a detection on where in the home the issue is! We bought (8) of them to comply with the Anchorage Codes after a small renovation. Was very anxious about having to get an interconnected system of alarms, but NEST hit a home run with these. The price is a little high, don't get me wrong on that, but these are one of those items that you just don't regret spending the extra money on once you see them in use. We're Super Satisfied! Loved the fact that Best Buy gave us a multi-item discount on them when we bought them as a group as well.

A lot better and a lot more expensive
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. And this was extremely easy to install and set up. It looks nice on the ceiling. I haven’t had a fire or any smoke conditions in the house so I can’t really tell you if it works or not. Maybe I should smell set a small blaze just to see if it alerts me. One minor quit that I have is that I had to use the old “nest“ app in order to set this up and use it. My other Google device, “ miss thermostat“ uses the “Google home“ app. So it’s kind of annoying that I have to use two apps and not one. But so many Google customer service said that they’re working on resolving that. This smoke detector is significantly more expensive than the average smoke detector which is why I only bought one. I really like to have these all over my house. One of the main advantages I see is that I don’t hear it annoying chirp every time the battery gets low. That used to drive me crazy! Is there some rule the battery in smoke detectors have to die in the middle of the night? Nest Protect send you a friendly push alert to your phone. It’s important to be safe in your house. It would really suck if you got killed by smoke or fire carbon monoxide. So whether you get this device or another one I would highly recommend that you have smoke detectors throughout your house especially in bedrooms and sleeping areas. I haven’t had this long enough to tell you if it will save my life but thankfully I’m still alive.

Highly recommended
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I wanted these for the carbon monoxide alarm more than anything. They arrived very quickly and had great packaging. They were a breeze to set up and they seem to be made with quality materials. I love that they work with the nest app and communicate with each other. The only thing that I don't like is that they are a little pricey. I bought them on sale and used my rewards from previous purchases from best buy, so that made it way more reasonable. That being said, the only regret that I have is not purchasing them sooner. They are giving me peace of mind and that is worth everything.
