Customers highly value the Nest Protect for its ease of use, night light feature, and simple installation. The long battery life and overall performance are also appreciated, along with its connectivity to other Nest products and app integration. While the price is a concern for some, many users have not experienced false alarms and find the sensitivity to be appropriate.

I love this smoke/carbon monoxide detector. Having both detectors in a single unit is very useful. It's also got a neat night light feature set off with a motion detector. Installation is directed by voice and an online video. It's very well thought out, engineered, and executed.

So far so good. Been looing at these for a while. Really easy to set up. Nightlight feature is prefect. Happy to have replaceable batteries. Tired of the kiddie ones dying all the time

This is great so far. Very easy to add to the google smart home, comes with batteries, schedules itself to auto test. One thing that I wasn't sure about, but I have come to really like is the nightlight feature. When I walk into a dark kitchen where this unit is installed, it gives a soft nightlight glow. The settings allow this to be changed to be brighter or dimmer.

What a great peace of mind these are! I take care of my mom who refuses to use the phone or has any tech savvy. I also like to take road trips on the weekend and typically, she wants to stay home. I always worried about something happening while I was away and my not finding out or being able to do anything about it. Now, I have no worries! I can monitor for fire, smoke or carbon monoxide anywhere I go. I love the nightlight feature and how it does self checkups. Super easy to setup and configure. Although they seem a little pricey, they are well worth the expense and peace of mind they provide. Highly Recommend!

I really like this it checks it self and sends a report to you. Set up is very easy and it has a night light. I was very disappointed in the night light at first however I did figure out the light brightness can be adjusted. When you walk into the dark room after being in a well lite room there isn't much light. What I discovered is that in the middle of the night it is GREAT. There is enough light to see where you are going but not so much light that you will disturb someone if they are sleeping. I would highly recommend this product. I am very happy with it. I set up 4 of these (3 hard wired one battery) in 30 minutes from start to finish

We got this for two reasons: ability to silence false alarms using the cellphone when cooking, and alerts sent to cellphone when out of the house. It was easy to install and seems well made unlike typical smoke alarms. I will probably get more on other floors to take advantage of interconnected feature of the alarms. The auto nightlight is a nice feature although I suspect it might use up the batteries faster. The only downside is that the Nest is costly compared to standard smoke detectors.

The best smoke/monoxide alarm on the Market

This is my 3rd Nest 2nd gen alarm I purchased for my home. They connect seamlessly to my Nest Thermostat and provide clear spoken warnings and direction if smoke or Monoxide is detected. Adding the third device took no more than 5 minutes to install since the new device connected to the previously installed units to program itself, brilliant feature. The different LED color warnings are specific and catch your attention along with the spoken alarm identifying which floor/location the alarm has sounded. I have the battery models and they last two years or more. They take lithium AAA batteries off the shelf, no special order batteries. A great product that offers your family, baby sitters and guests clear direction during a stressful situation.

Love the green light that comes on every night to show that the batteries are good. Also a big fan of the night light feature. Really like that you can set it to high, medium or just turn it off if you want. Easy to install as I did it myself.

This has been an awesome addition to our smart home that already included Nest Thermostat & Nest Smart Lock. No issues with installation or syncing to the the App. The night light is absolutely awesome as it’s right in our upstairs dark hallway. Emits just the right amount of light to help you navigate, but not enough to be annoying. We will be adding one to our 1st floor level too. Highly recommend!!!!

My daughter is in a basement apartment at college and I know of two nearby families whose house burned down when a fire started in their attic. Since there was not a fire alarm in the attic, it took longer than it should have for the family to realize there was a fire. Fortunately they all got punt safely! It occurred to me that my daughter was at risk if no one was home upstairs and she didn't hear the upstairs fire alarms. I bought four Nest fire alarms and placed them throughout the house. They were simple to install, connect to her smartphone, and I feel secure knowing that if an alarm upstairs goes off, so will hers! The videos on their app are easy to follow, and you can get support if you need it. I would definite recommend this!

I purchased this nest to replace a previous nest (version 1) that was starting to give false alarms. The overall Nest Protect is very good. I have them through out my home. The 2nd Generation is definitely better than the first with the ability to silence an alarm from the app. Battery life is pretty good on the batteries in these devices. I think I've had the others for over 3-4 years now and only replaced the batteries once. Would recommend this if you're looking to add to your current smart home devices or start something basic towards a smart home.

If you are already part of or are planning on getting into the Google/Nest eco system then this product is for you! I love being connected to my home even when I am away. The Nest gives me piece of mind when I am home or away. I was a little concerned about the battery life on these products when I first got one, but I am happy to say that I have owned them for 19 months now and just last week I got a notification on my phone that the battery is low. No beeps or waking up to a dead battery in the middle of the night. I now have five of these throughout my home and have been satisfied with all of them. They are easy to set up and get connected, and they also have a ton of added features that a normal alarm doesn't.

I like that it is easy to setup, mount and has replaceable AA batteries.
The units can communicate with each other without wi-fi so if one alarm goes off the others should go off too. This is definitely the most important feature for me next to getting notified of a fire on my phone if I’m not home.
It has voice warnings which are cool and a motion sensing pathway night light but in my opinion it’s not bright enough for someone with poor night vision.
I don’t like how it doesn’t yet work with the Google home app or at least mine don’t.
I also don’t like that it’s about $100+ per unit, which I know over 10 years is only $10 a year/unit but when you want to upgrade the whole house it’s can get pricey.
If there’s one improvement that I would like to see like the option of paying for professional monitoring. If there’s a fire I’d like it to be automatically reported to the fire department as I live an an area that is prone to wildfires.
I worry that this might end up being a product Google has but doesn’t continue to improve/add features to. I think I’d look into a different product if I were to do it over again especially for the cost of the product.

Buying a smoke/co detector isn't exactly something to get excited about, but it is comforting to know that if something does go wrong I have the below going for me:
1- I am notified if I am home (all devices link together and alarm) or away (via text/email/call. This is especially important if you have pets home alone).
2- I can easily disable from phone for false alarms, even before the alarm starts to sound.
3- I can link to other smart devices to turn off furnace automatically which is a potential cause for the issue (must have Nest thermostats (or possibly other smart thermostat).
They are extremely easy to setup, monitor, test, and they last 10 years.
I highly recommend them to anyone tech savvy enough to have smart phone.

The Nest Protect is amazingly easy to install if you have the wiring already in place. If you do not have the wiring already installed, please be certain to purchase the battery-only version.
I sleep better and am more relaxed while away from my home knowing that if there is a smoke or carbon dioxide event in any room, I'll be notified immediately.
We use our five Nest Protects in addition to our Nest thermostat and each device communicates with each other to know when we are home or away and adjusts the t-stat automatically!
My favorite niche feature of the hardwired Nest Protects is the nightlight!

I bought 6 of these to protect my whole house, they are great, easy to setup, have a night light feature that my wife and I just love and also network between each other and Nest so if one goes off they all go off, it even links into our nest thermostat to enhance the away feature. They also let you know the battery is good when you turn your light out to go to sleep by blinking green a couple of times, which is good to know you won't get woken up in the middle of the night for a low battery. These are some of the most expensive fire and carbon monoxide detectors on the market but are well worth it as Nest has packed them with features, plus what price can you put on feeling safe. For me they are worth the purchase price.
