Thank goodness we havn't had the need to detect smoke or carbon dioxide, but nevertheless the installation, testing and integration to the smartphone app was seamless, efficient and well instructed. The white path light really helps in dakness and I like the fact that it self tests and glows green each night the lights get turned off. go get it

Smoke detectors have come a long way! I researched this one and pulled the trigger. It's a little high in price but it's a piece of mind when I'm home with or away from the family. You can't beat it and the night light it has that's motioned sensored is really cool so you can walk to the bathroom without tripping.

I got one of these for a gift and was thinking about buying another. it is far more reliable than the cheap fire detector thatI had before. it has a motion night light witch isn’t very bright but its better than none at all if or when I buy more they will be the wired ones because the ceilings are very high in some parts of my house.Hope they work as well as the battery ones they do a safety check and reports back to your cll phone

These are my first Nest products and I’m glad I chose them. Set up and install was extremely easy. They look great. I love the night light function. My wife already put them to work too. I immediately got a notification that there was smoke in the kitchen and was able to silence the alarm from work.

These were already installed when we purchased the home; we needed to replace one of them when we were notified that it was set to expire. It was easy to set up following the instructions on my phone and easy to install on the existing plate (even though it was a new version), I like the ability to test the smoke alarm, view the status, and receive alerts on my phone when I am not home. When you walk under the Nest Protect, a dim light will shine green when to let you know that its working as its supposed to and alert you with a different color when it is almost time replace it (yellow). I also appreciate a voice alarm as opposed to an annoying beeping sound that the standard alarms tend to do when it needs attention (new battery or smoke alarm notification).

It's really easy to set up the battery version of the Protect. Haven't had the Protect for long so I didn't t know how long the battery's last for the device. What's nice is that it comes with 6 batteries already installed. So all you have to do is setup the Protect with the Nest app and install it. So far so good.

Super easy to use, a leap from the system it replaced (ADT) which no one could figure out how worked. Simple features like saying good night with a green light and providing night light on demand have turned these guys into darlings among the kids in the house.

This smoke is the only smoke detector I'll ever buy. I love never having to worry about hearing the chirp of a typical smoke detector, the voice warning before a full alarm, and notices when the battery runs low. The Nest Protect integrates well with the Nest ecosystem and a must have!

I did not have to have an electrician install so it’s great. It works with the Nest app that will notify you that there’s a fire or smoke in the home along with a precise location. Perfect for deaf or hard of hearing persons. Great investment for a safer home.

Works very well. Nice to be able to monitor via iPhone App while you are away, and to get notifications when it thinks there is a problem. Also its verbal announcements of the cause of events is handy (specially for kids ) I have 4 of them throughout the house & they are linked so that a problem in one room will be announced in all rooms.

Easy to install and the best I have used. I’ve bought them for three different houses. They’re not cheap. But for what you get, they’re truly the best.

I paired this Protect with wired ones in my home. I converted a formal dining room into an office so there was no existing wiring. I didn't want to run additional wiring through the attic. I was concerned with this battery operated model not pairing with the rest, no issues at all.

An excellent product that was so easy to install, test and commission into service. It integrates well into the Nest eco system and is invaluable for peace of mind not only when at home but whilst away. The light that comes on at night when you walk under it is also useful.

So people would turn their nose up at spending over 100 dollars on a smoke alarm, but you get what you pay for. This does smoke and carbon monoxide, it sends alerts to your phone so if you are away, you know something is happening at your house, but it as a few little extras that are nice. Besides it testing itself constantly, setup was so easy and once you have over installed, it practically sets itself up with you doing little to no work. Some added features are the lights that are built in it. One cool feature is if it is dark and you walk under it, it can turn on a small white light Alamo’s like a motion activated nightlight that shows you the way. This can be turned off but when I walk through the hallway at night, it’s like I’ve got someone showing me true way and helping me out. This was such a great addition to my nest thermostat and they also work together as well. If there is a fire, the nest thermostat while turn off the air circulation so it doesn’t spread smoke. I hope I never have to. Rest this feature but this brings you closer to a smart home.

I recently bought the nest smoke and Carbon monoxide detector to replace an old battery operated model that did not work anymore. Very easy to set up to wifi and very easy to install. Set up the nest app in minutes and am able to monitor on my iPhone. Put this one in the hallway will buy more for the kitchen and the man cave downstairs!

This is my second nest protect and i plan on getting a third. The best thing is when you get another protect it uses first protect to register itself. Makes the set up even easier than the first one. It does periodic tests and provides a really cool ring of light for dark rooms. It kind of acts like a night life.

I bought the battery powered one even though I installed it in the same place where I had my previous smoke detector. I did not want to go thru the hassle of wiring it up. It was very easy to install. No issues. I like the night light feature. I am going to buy another one for the second floor. I recomend this product.

The Nest Protect is the next step in smoke/CO detection at the home. This unit was easy to install. Following the very precise videos on the Nest website this unit (wired) was installed in a few minutes. The night light function is nice feature that was added. The voice prompts are also a very nice addition.

This is my 5th Nest Protect (located in my home office) and it saved my house from a potential catastrophe. I left the gas burner on while sterilizing baby bottles and went to work. The water boiled out and the alarm activated saying there was smoke in the hallway. Since no one was home, I was receiving alerts on my phone initially from the detector in the hallway; that is until all smoke detectors ultimately started alerting me. I immediately sent a relative to the home to find the gas burner on with all bottles melted. The situation could have become worse if I wasn't notified via alerts on my phone. Since I setup the alarm to notify other relatives, they were calling me as well to see if I was ok. Thank you Nest Protect!
