I have horrible internet bandwidth but with this Nest protect I am able to keep an eye on my house and I do receive my text messages.when movement is detected

First off let me say I am a huge fan of Nest, it started with my thermostats in the house, then expanded to the smoke / co2 alarms in the house and now this great addition to the suite of expanding products Nest offers. Installation is fairly easy by launching the Nest App and scanning the QR code, starting with the hub and then to the sensors etc The app is intuitive to use and integrates all very nicely. You can arm and disarm the system with the app or with the included “Tag”s. You can add a Nest Cam and professional monitoring of you System will be available some time in 2018 which will come at a cost but is not necessary. If you already have invested in the Nest ecosystem as many folks have, this system builds well on that foundation, as a stand alone system it’s a bit pricey but the great thing about Nest is it just works and there isn’t enough that can be said about not having to worry about quirky electronics. Overall it’s a great addition to any smart home, I only gave it 4 stars as it’s a bit pricey.

Purchased the last one in stock. Definitely not disappointed. Glad we purchased before it was discontinued.

This system is simple, intuitive, and good looking, and integrates with my other Nest products. It’s exactly what I was hoping it would be. A little more expensive than Abode or Scout (I recommend the T-Mobile bundle to make Nest Secure a better deal), but a security system is something you will interact with several times a day—it’s worth it to make sure it’s enjoyable to use. Also, be wary of several of the negative reviews posted before me. One is based on paranoia, and a few others represent a major misunderstanding of the way Nest Secure functions.

I would have given it 3 stars instinctually had I not seen “fair” as the descriptor for 2 stars. There just isn’t much going on here for a home security system. If you don’t buy the monthly Cellular data monitoring package (you have the option to buy it through the app once you get the actual product), there’s not much it does other than make a loud noise if you open a door...granted the noise is ungodly loud, but I set this off more times by accident while in “home mode” taking out the trash quick...which I usually forget to do until late at night... while all my neighbors are...also suddenly awake, enjoying my new security system with me.

Easy to set up. Was up and going in 10 minutes. Can also add Brinks security and integrates with Nest Aware.

We have this system set up in our house, it works well with the cameras and our hue light system. Very pleased with how responsive it is

Great product, Google connectivity is on point. Hate that it doesn’t have door entry notifications though

Easy to install and use BUT.. the voice is WAAAAAAAYYYYY too quiet. You have to be standing right next to it to hear it and there is no way to add another device.

So great for peace of mind. We love that we are alerted whenever a door is opened in our house.

This system lost connections to sensors about every 2 months however that is nothing compared to google abandoning one of the most expensive home security systems. I had gone through 2 of these and I would get alerts I was not home when I was. This has really made me reconsider have my smart ecosystem centers on google. I would accept less functionality for more reliability . Maybe I will wait fire a home security system that does not require a subscription that works with home kit.

Love this security system and like that it doubles as a Google Home device to boot!

A couple of doors and one room is what each kit will cover, but you can move it around as needed.

This was easy to set up and works well from my phone as well as on site.

The Nest Secure Alarm system is a nice way to secure your home easily and without having to call a big company installer. In the box you get the Nest Guard main unit, 2 of the Nest Detect sensors (with the option to buy more if you need separately), 2 Nest tag keyfobs, power cable and adapter, and installation items for the Nest Guard and Nest detect. The Nest Guard main unit is the brains of the system. It has the motion sensor, keypad, and alarm. The detect sensors are what you use on your doors or windows for detection. The keyfobs tags are used to alarm and disarm. These can also be bought separately if you need more. One star deducted because I think it should have come with more of the detects. Even in a small apartment the majority of people will have more than 2 doors or windows they want to secure. I know its called the starter system, but 4 would have made more sense. But as I said at least you can buy more, but at $60 each its a bit steep in my opinion. Set up and installation is fairly easy. Starting with downloading the app just add the Nest guard, then the detects and tags. Then install the detects on the doors and/ or windows you want to guard. Since it only comes with 2 as a starter pack most houses will need more if you want to fully guard all your windows and doors. You can also install the detects on a wall and it will detect when someone passes by. For me its just the front and rear doors for now. If you want to extend your system in a larger house there is also the optional Nest Connect. This will help the alarm and motion sensors work correctly when the devices are further apart in larger houses. Once setup the system has lots of built in features like tamper detect and "Quiet open" which allows you to be able to open or close a door or window without the alarm going off. After tapping the device it gives you 10 seconds to open or close a door or window, then rearms when you close the door or window. It also has a built in light that will light up when you walk by to help in the dark which is a cool feature. And for the dog owners there is a sensitivity setting you can change to avoid false alarms. But this is only intended for dogs under 40lbs. If you have people like cleaners, maintenance workers, etc. that come over at scheduled times you can set it up for them to have access at specific times. So this thing is feature packed despite being so simple. Overall Id say this is a great, relatively cheap full house alarm system. It may cost a bit more if you need extra tags, or detects, but in comparison to some of the house alarms out there Id say its a great deal. Simplicity of use, lots of features, the ability to increase security and/ or coverage with extra detects or the Nest "Connect" device makes this a great way to secure your home without breaking the entire bank.

I have been very pleased with my Nest alarm system and the ability to monitor it myself.
