A bit pricey but works very well with other nest products

I think Google is making a big mistake handling Nest customers. I have been long time Nest fan and expected the same quality of product and support as the other Nest products I own, such as thermostats and Protects. Unfortunately, for a security product, it is unacceptable to have missing events in the history when a door was opened. When I spoke to their support, they had no intention to investigate why it happened and failed to follow up on the ticket. I returned the product after 2 weeks with no follow up. Went with Abode instead.

I really like this system. The setup was super easy although it could use a few more sensors. Once installed I downloaded the app and scanned in my sensors. Everything seems to sync with my home router system flawlessly. It’s really nice having the ability to get a home security system that allows the home owner to monitor their home without needing a subscription. For me that makes this one of the better systems to buy. All in all this is a great home security system. Looks great and easy set up makes the Nest Secure a winner.

Set up was easy to understand and didn’t take too much time to complete. Videos were helpful and provided a good overview of the product. Tags a good option to using a PIN on the keypad. What’s really cool is how I get a notification on my Nexus 6 when no one is detected @ my condo, so I can decide to arm the alarm remotely. Door and windows sensors and interior motion sensors give U a good idea of what’s happening to UR property and an app allows control of the system when UR not present. Be sure to go over all the different components to get the best coverage and convenience for UR needs. Product not as comprehensive as the Samsung/ADT one, but OK for a lot of people IMHO. Seems strange that these products don’t work with the Google Home Mini. Mini does work with other Nest products such as the T-Stat tho. Just so U know Nest does sell exterior and interior cameras too.

I have great wifi coverage in my house and a nest router system but these units always seem to be going offline. I’ve done trouble shooting galore but it still only works like 1/2 the time. For as much as it costs, I’d not recommend it.

I will preface this review by saying that I'm a big Nest fan...and thus why we selected this home security solution. As with all our other Nest products, the Nest Secure Alarm System was easy to setup, configure and use. This particular kit provides the base unit - Nest Guard, 2 Nest Detect sensors and 2 Nest Tags. This will cover 2 window/door setups, and additional Detects and Tags can be purchased to increase the coverage of your home. We started with the front door and the lower lever slider (needed the addition of the Nest Connect due to distance from base unit). As we already use a Nest camera, I have the Nest App set up and was able to easily add the Nest Secure system. Once the Tags were set up and the Detects were installed and linked, the system was ready to test out. The results...I'll be buying additional Detects this week to safeguard our entire home! Pros: Easy to install and use Ability to run system from phone or Tags Scalability of system - can add additional sensors as needed Nest Connect for extending signal in larger homes Compatibility with other Nest products Cons: Tag (key fob) is a bit odd shaped and doesn't fit my keychain very well If you are looking for a user friendly and affordable home security system, look no further than the Nest Secure system!

Cannot recommend this product. They are removing features (at their control... years after ownership). They have never enabled the glass breakage sensor. When you tie this in with your nest camera a burglar WILL KNOW when your camera is off and when you are watching! IMPORTANT NOTE: Cellular Backup backup service for Nest Secure is ending on August 30, 2020 regardless of your renewal end date on this page. You will receive a refund after August 30, 2020 for any unused portion of your subscription. On Nest Cam, Dropcam, and Nest Hello, the status light will blink when the camera’s live video is streamed from the Nest app. The setting to turn this off will be removed.

Ended up returning this as it would have cost to much to get all of the sensor’s that we would need.

I already own a Nest thermostat and smoke detector. It was super easy to install the alarm system. The base unit communicates with your existing Nest products and seamlessly logs into your wireless network. Setting up the numeric password was a little wonky & was the only issue I had. Then you add the tags-- super easy and install the Nest protects on the doors. The app walks you through the process and after you finish the 1st door, the others follow easily. The in-app instructions are clear & the written materials also help. After installation-- only took about 30 minutes, the alarm was easy to set for guarding at home and away. I highly recommend this system.

The Nest cameras and Nest Protect smoke alarms are great, but the Nest Secure is the worst that you could want in an alarm system. It frequently goes offline and requires local reset. In addition, there is no push notification for an alarm, meaning unless one is home, there will be no notification that it is alarming unless you purchase the monitoring service. I regret buying this system.

This alarm system is much better than those other alarm systems. Easy to set up, just download the app , plug your Nest system and follow the steps. The Nest guard or base has a built in motion sensor to add security to your house, but make sure that if you have a dog in the house , depends on the dogs height you have to install the Nest guard on a place that your dog won’t activate the alarm. Inside the box you get only two Nest Detect for your doors or windows and two Nest tag but you can buy more separately to add security to your house. This system gives you at least 60 seconds by default to enter your house and disarm but you can change that on the app. Make sure you have a good wifi connection in your house otherwise I will recomended you to buy the Nest Connect range extender.

After 10 months the device is failing - i have false motion detection. The hub often doesn't respond and the buttons fail to reliably activate/deactivate the system. The key fob has to be swiped multiple times before read. I suspect bad build quality from nest. Better options are out there.

This is just a bad product. Out of the box the device has errors. Now waiting 5 days for them to ship me parts from Nest. Poor customer service as well. I regret not going with Ring products.

The installation was quick and simple, adding and configuring new sensors is done completely through the app, which instructs you every step of the way. Installation took about 30 minutes from unboxing to completion. No permanent mounting is required during the install, making this system perfect for those concerned with damaging their property/apartment. This system is by far the least intrusive home security system I have seen, unfortunately, this comes at a cost. The biggest flaw is that the system waits 30 seconds before sounding an alarm. This is very concerning, as it gives intruders more than enough time to effectively disable the system with a hammer. Because of the drawbacks noted below, I am unable to recommend this product. Pros: ~Nice sleek design ~Easy setup - Setup took about 30 minutes, everything is done through the Nest App. ~Setting the system to "Away and Guarding" also sets Nest thermostats to eco mode. Cons: ~No option for immediate alarm activation ~Inconsistant reminders. The system is unreliable in notifying you that you've forgotten to set the alarm, as well as asking if you would like to disable when arriving at home. This is an advertised feature, yet fails to work as expected. ~No integration with Google assistant. Which is very surprising, since Google is the parent company. I would like to be able to ask the assistant to set the alarm, rather than having to open the Next app. ~Very little customization - I would like to be able to set the system so it announces that a door or window was opened, even when the system is disarmed. ~Price - Rather expensive, once you add additional sensors, monitoring, and cellular backup. Other systems offer this functionality at a much lower cost. ~Minimal integration with other Nest products - it should connect to the next protect smoke detectors, using them as additional motion sensors, or as a remote speaker/alarm.

First impressions this is a well designed product with safety in mind. Out of the box the setup is very easy and straightforward. The UI is easy to follow and beautifully done. Took me about 30 min to fully deploy, very easy to install and provides good piece of mind. Once set up, arming and disarming is easy and there’s three different ways to accomplish this feat. My wife likes the tag feature since she suffers from MS and reminding a PIN is difficult for her. Seamlessly integrates with existing home security features and once fully deployed the app is beautifully designed with a simple UI and ease of use. Really glad o got this and look forward to deploying more Nest products in the future.

Worst alarm system ever. It doesn’t work, requires google account, we logged in with google account and were hacked the next day, it’s the opposite of security. Had to leave country for business for 2 months and plan to take it back to Best Buy. Hopeful they do the right thing and accept the return.
