Nest temperature sensors give great flexibility

As in my house, thermostats are not always located where people spend the most time. Coupled with the Nest Thermostats, the sensors allow you to set temperature and reading in any room and also change that location by merely moving the sensor. You can have multiple sensors and change reading location based on a schedule. In my case, the thermostat upstairs is located in a hall with no heating outlet so having the sensor allows me to have the thermostats read in any bedroom giving a more accurate thermostats reading.

I purchased several of these and placed them strategically around my home to read the temperature of the rooms in which we spend the most time. I love that you can have the Nest Thermostat set the temperature based on one of the sensors instead of the thermostat itself. Thermostats are generally installed in a hallway in the center of the home, where no one generally hangs out. I tell my Nest to use the living room sensor during the day, since this is where we are when we're awake, and set it to use the bedroom sensor at night where we're sleeping. Such a great thing to have!

    Nest Thermostat sensors

After finally opening our house warming gift, we installed the sensors with our already, professionally installed Nest Thermostat. 2 weeks from installation, the air conditioning was not working properly; pushing out warm air. Had the install come back and check the unit and thermostat and he confirmed the sensors are throwing off the thermostat with inaccurate readings. The sensors were installed in the suggested locations. Upon trying to return, Best Buy would not let me return or even receive store credit for what I believe is a faulty product. Very disappointed!

About as basic as can be

Super basic. These things shouldn't be more than $20 though. All the software allows for is to read the temp in a room and to schedule what temp it should be for that time of day. It doesn't have a proximity sensor or can't average temperatures across sensors. Unless you have bad insulation you're better off just raising the heat or AC for your thermostat 3-4 degrees at the times you need it. Despite it's downfalls I still recommend it but only because I'm a data guy. I'd wait until they're on sale though.

We purchased our new home in June of this year. We struggled with our bedroom always being either too cold or too hot with our normal non smart thermostat. Finally I had enough and bought the nest thermostat paired with this additional thermostat sensor. Now I have my home heating and cooling based directly off what the bedroom thermostat says the temp is. Paired with the nest app and a schedule; we finally have a perfect nights sleep! Highly recommend this device to pair with your nest; especially if you struggle with a particular room(s)!

Bought a 3 pack of these and gave 2 to my son in law. Figured I only needed one because I wanted to know what the temp was in the basement than on the main floor where the Nest thermostat is. Surprised to see that there’s onl a couple of degrees difference, but nice to know that there really is a difference. Will likely get a couple more for other locations in the house just so I can see how efficient our system is. Excellent device(s) though, and would be valuable to someone needing to monitor temperatures in different areas.

Bought this to put in my master bedroom as it never gets quite as warm as the rest of the house. Always had to use a space heater in that room in the colder months. This solved the issue perfectly. I was concerned that the rest of the house would be too warm, but I was actually able to turn down the main thermostat to 70 degrees from 72 and the entire house seems more evenly heated and the temp is just right, not sure how that worked out, but it did. So I'm super happy about that.

This addition to the Nest thermostats is a life saver. I got the 3 pack and dramatically improved the comfort level and performance of all three heating zones they are used in. A life saver since I have been meaning to relocate a few of the Nest base modules for a while now but didn't want to deal with running new wires, etc. With these sensors I effectively relocated the sensing POINT in about 3 minutes each and was able to fine-tune the zones to our exact liking. Great things do come in small packages!

The sensor is used to regulate the temperature for our child’s room so we don’t have to keep opening and closing the door to regulate the temp ourself. We simply set our nest thermostat to a certain temperature in the room using the sensor and we don’t have to worry that it’s getting too hot or too cold. ***our sensor wasn’t 100% accurate until it had been in the room for 24 hours. Maybe it needs to calibrate itself? Idk, but don’t be discouraged if the sensor isn’t 100% accurate right away.

These sensors have helped me find out the temp in certain rooms of my home. My children’s room gets hot during the evenings so my thermostat always cuts off due to the living room cooling down faster. This sensor lets me keep the air on until the room reaches the temp that I set my thermostat to. The cool thing is that I can set the time of day that I want it to do that, which is the evening when it heats up the most in that room. The 3 pack of sensors that I bought allowed me to place more in other rooms to make our home temps more comfortable.

These temperature sensors are a great addition to the Nest thermostat. They do exactly what they are supposed to do and were extremely easy to set up. Great for large houses that have a drastic variation in temperature between rooms. At night my master bedroom is always 6 degrees colder in the winter and 8+ degrees warmer in the summer but the thermostat is located in the hallway so we put a temperature sensor in the bedroom to help even out the temperature.

So these are not the issue. The next thermostat works well “most” of the time. I don’t like to set a schedule since schedules are very rigid. I was hoping that the nest would actually begin to learn my habits in the house, however after 2 hrs of having them, it doesn’t seem to be. I have to constantly adjust the settings. If the nest says it is set to a higher temp, no matter where you place the sensors, it won’t matter.

I have a situation where my downstairs nest is in the living area, but the area I need to be most comfortable is a smaller room with fewer windows. I purchased this device to help with keeping that room at the right temp without the constant tweaking of the master unit. Works like a charm for this. I do not have to set a schedule for it as I want the nest to always use this sensor, so I don’t have some of the complaints others have with the scheduling limitations.

I was initially having the issue where the upstairs would be much warmer than downstairs. After installing the nest thermostat, we decided to purchase the Nest Temperature sensor and placed it in the warmest room in our home. Having this sensor has allowed the nest to better regulate the temperature of both floors. We have had both the Nest and the Nest Temperature sensor for about 2 months and we cannot be happier with the outcome of having these two items. Oh, and it has help decrease our electricity bill in this time frame.

    Amazing addition to Nest Thermostats

One thermostat was on a wall that was above the gas boiler and got 6 degrees hotter than the rooms. Another was on the other side of a wall and we put in a door. Could we have spliced wires and moved either or both -- Yup, but instead plunked one of these guys on the actual areas of the rooms I wanted to keep at a temperature. Amazing -- both transformed a relatively uncontrolled heating system into perfect. And from MY Best Buy Store -- I could have bought elsewhere, but why -- this is MY store.

I just received my nest thermostat sensor today and it is better than I thought it would be, small enough so it not In the way or too noticeable, easy set up and installation to the wall and To the nest app, now I have the piece of mind my family bedrooms have the right temperature as I live in a two floor house. I can either choose which room to keep the hotter or which one to keep the coolest at anytime I want.

I was a little skeptical of buying this at first but I like the way it tells your learning nest thermostat to run when your in that area of the house especially for larger homes. My home is over 2000 sq ft and I couldn't be happier especially in the winter I dont like it to hot the app let's you set the temperature sensor for that area or room of the house to your liking and then just simply select from the app where you are so it's not uncomfortable to you. Best thing ever.

These are great if you simply want to know the temperature inside of a room; however, as you would expect, if you regular to one room odds are that all other rooms will be way too hot or way too cold. I'm in a 5-level split and my daughter's room is always freezing... Setting this to her room at night completely baked the rest of the home, which I had expected. However, and with that said, I do like seeing what's going on with the temperature in each room, so it does the job.

These are handle little temperature sensors, they have changed how we use our Nest. Since they do not have an occupancy component to them you are expected to rely on scheduling, however you cannot schedule by day, only preset buckets of time that go across every day. So if you have a home office and want to mark that you are in it two days a week from certain times, no dice. The app very easily shows the temperatures at each sensor and which one is active. I would like to see more control over scheduling.

I bought this to put in our upstairs hallway. It easily connected to our Nest Thermostat and is easy to use through the app to check the upstairs temperature and switch it to it if we wanted to. You have the option to set it on a shelf or you can hang it on a wall. It does not require a power cord which is nice. It's also very small which makes it discrete. It's totally worth it if you have multiple floors or areas in your house that might run warmer or cooler than where your thermostat is located.
