    Great Nest Thermostat Add-On

I purchased two of these and love how they enhance the effectiveness of my Nest Thermostat. I placed one in the bedroom and one in the family room, while my thermostat is in a hallway. Now the thermostat can regulate the temperature for the bedroom at night and the family room during the day. They were very easy to connect and have been working flawlessly for a couple of months now. I highly recommend this item.

Extremely easy to set up and use. Overall happy with how they work. The only downside is the lack of flexibility in when the thermostat uses each sensor - you can select from one of 4 preset time of day options to have the thermostat 'sense' each sensor, but you cannot alter the time that those presets start (though I've heard Nest may be changing this with future updates).

Let’s you control the temperature of 4 locations (3 sensors, 1 thermostat) based on time of day. Allows me to keep the living room and kitchen areas cool during the day and at night the bedroom stays exactly at the temp set. Perfect if you’re tired of adjusting between day and night to maintain comfort levels throughout the day. Multi story homes I believe are most beneficial but really nice everywhere.

Thermostats are usually centrally located in halls. In bedrooms, this can give a non-optimal reading, especially if doors are closed. The Nest sensor allows you to set the temperature on any room, not just where the thermostat is located. It also allows one to change the reading location based on time of day. this is a very useful product for large floors with one thermostat.

I have this in a bedroom in my apartment. The main thermostat is in the living room. It seems to work well enough. You can choose which thermostat to use for your desired temperature at any time. I just wish the thermostat was able to use the fan to circulate the air and equalize the temperature as much as possible. Sometimes the living room can get down to the mid-60s when the bedroom is set to 72.

    Scheduling Function could be better

I bought this knowing the scheduling options were pre-defined based on other's review. The pre-defined schedules are Morning (7 to 11), Midday (11 to 4), Evening (4 to 9) and Night (9 to 7) everyday with no exception for the weekends. For me, it wasn't the optimal schedule but was not a deal breaker. I would give it 5 stars if the sensor scheduling were more robust.

My house has the thermostat on the upstairs level which in turn makes my AC run constantly in the summer time because heat rises!! I installed the Nest thermostat and added this sensor on the main level and dramatically increased the comfort level in the whole home because I can have the AC set to cool the main level or the upstairs level of my home. This sensor certainly helped drop my cooling bill this summer!

After using this for a month or so, I would recommend this sensor for peace of mind. It works seamlessly and connects to the nest thermostat exactly the way it should, but I come to realization that the three different rooms that I have this sensor in are all around the same temperature. I have two in upstairs rooms and one downstairs. Overall it's a great product, but more as an extra accessory.

Love this little thing. I have one in every room. Very discreet. It links with my Nest thermostat and allows me to monitor the temperature in every room. My bedroom gets hot in the morning and the office gets hot during the afternoon so this allows me to prioritize different room and adjust my thermostat automagically throughout the day. Satisfied.

TEMP SENSOR NOT CALIBRATED TO THERMOSTAT

    Posted
    cmathews

I REALLY LIKE MY NEST LEARNING THERMOSTAT AND BOUGHT THE TEMPERATURE SENSOR FOR THE BEDROOM TO CONTROL THE TEMPERATURE AT NIGHT. UNFORTUNATELY, THE SENSOR READS 2 DEG LOWER THAN THE THERMOSTAT, WHICH MEANS THE PROGRAM DOESN’T WORK RIGHT WHEN IT SWITCHES TO THE SENSOR. I CONTACTED NEST SUPPORT AND THERE DOESN’T SEEM TO BE A WAY TO CALIBRATE THE SENSOR WITH THE THERMOSTAT. I’M RETURNIG THIS TO THE STORE.

      Nest Support

We're sorry to hear about this experience you've had with your Nest Temperature sensor not appearing to read the ambient temperature properly. It's possible that due to the location of this temperature sensor, there may have been some other factor causing this to read a few degrees off. We'd suggest placing the temperature sensor in a different area of the same room, and allowing 15 minutes for this to update to see if the temperature remains the same or adjusts itself as expected. It’s nice because my living room thermostat is always reading hotter than it actually is because of everything that’s going on in the living room. Now it’s the sensor I have it in my bedroom and it reads at room temperature which is correct. I absolutely recommend this to anybody who has a nest thermostat with multiple rooms

Purchased this to try and help my Nest Thermostat be a bit more stable. I placed it in the down stairs office, and had to move it directly underneath the stat for it to get a strong enough signal. It connects to your thermostat from what I understand, not your mesh network. It runs off a small battery that is supposed to last 2 years, so no power outlet needed.

Adding these temperature sensors has been a great help. The sensors show up in the app and can be assigned names so you can see at a glance what the temperature is in different rooms in your house. You can set the thermostat to use a sensor when setting heat levels, which is great if your thermostat is in a common area that can sometimes overheat rooms. Highly recommended.

This sensor works exactly as described! IF you have a 3rd gen thermostat then buy it! We have multiples rooms within the household and at night I would like certain rooms to be cooler than the hallways or downstairs common area. Works absolutely perfect, with minimal setup time. Couldn't be happier. I only wish the readings in the room display would be slightly larger font size to easily see the temp. I bought 4!

Gives your nest thermostat secondary brains

Love this item. I like how you can use eaither one of these sensors as a thermostat brain. It it’s hot in the living room and continues to cool, when the bedroom is already cool enough when you go to bed, you can use these to use the bedroom sensor to operate according to the temperature in the bedroom rather than the living room, thus not using as much energy cooling the whole house.

This temperature are very useful. I am able to set my Nest Thermostat based on a specific sensor and I always know the temperature on each room. My only advice would be to mark each sensor in case you ever move. Otherwise, there is no way to know which is which unless you disconnect them and check on your app.

I love my new Nests, but I’m certain I wouldn’t love them as much without these. I now know that I’m not crazy, the master is 3-4 degrees hotter than the thermostat around the corner...no more fears of premature hot flashes for me! I now have the Nest set to read the temp in whatever room I’m in, and I’m willing to pay the extra $$ to make sure I’m comfortable in my own home. Love it!

Very happy with this purchase. I was able to pair two of my three devices with my unit within a matter of minutes. I gave the third to a family member who is also a happy Nest customer. This device helps us regulate all three floors well since there can easily be a 10 degree difference between basement, main floor and upstairs. I would recommend to any existing Nest user.

I have 4 of these sensors in my house and they’re pretty awesome. I will admit that I bought them basically to see how efficient my system was and am surprised at the accuracy. You can set your nest to follow any one of them — if you’re upstairs, you can tell it. If you’re in one room it will follow that. I think it’s a decent add on for the nest thermos. I do wish it monitored humidity.

I love seeing the temperature in each of the kids rooms, and I like that you can make it the primary controller for different times of the day. I almost only gave 4 stars because you can only divide the day in thirds, and not do it by the hour, which I think is an update Nest needs to incorporate soon, but it's a huge step in the right direction. We use them daily.
