The Nest Temperature Sensors are a great addition to the Nest Learning Thermostat. The 3-pack is perfect for a home the size of mine to have just the right amount control and as you Nest learns your preferences, it will get even better over time. If you have a 2-stage or more variable speed system, it is AMAZING! Although, we have just a 1200sqft (111 sqm) single story home, there are still temperature fluctuations from space to space. These little devices turn your thermostat into a multi-zone system affordably. At a minimum, you can control your comfort based on your room use, versus heating the whole house based on "location of your thermostat". For example, at night, when you want your bedroom cool, the Nest will heat the space according to that small room's sensor versus the heating the entire ambient temperature of the house. Vice versa, if you are sitting in the great room during the day, reading a book, where it might heat up faster due to sunlight coming into large windows, the device can be installed in that space to give you the control to adjust according to those ambient factors resulting in the furnace running less often.
Downside, if your system is old, single stage system, it will not deliver optimal performance.

When I recently bought my house the thermostat was upstairs so I had a major problem with the heat distribution. I was going to move my thermostat downstairs but after research I thought the Google Nest Thermostat and its sensors might help me with my problem best move I made. I can control my thermostat offer any off the sensors in any room which regulates my house so much better great product

Nest sensors work great...With drawbacks

These are great if you simply want to know the temperature inside of a room; however, as you would expect, if you regular to one room odds are that all other rooms will be way too hot or way too cold. I'm in a 5-level split and my daughter's room is always freezing... Setting this to her room at night completely baked the rest of the home, which I had expected. However, and with that said, I do like seeing what's going on with the temperature in each room, so it does the job.

My neighborhood is melting with the cost of air conditioning, the average is over 475 for a house over 1,500 feet, but this sensor has kept the cost of my 2,200 square foot house below 190 thanks to the fact that the temperature does it from a cooler and more stable place of the house temperature. Normally the thermostat is in the hottest place in the house, and the machine constantly registers needs to work harder and harder.

I was a little skeptical of buying this at first but I like the way it tells your learning nest thermostat to run when your in that area of the house especially for larger homes. My home is over 2000 sq ft and I couldn't be happier especially in the winter I dont like it to hot the app let's you set the temperature sensor for that area or room of the house to your liking and then just simply select from the app where you are so it's not uncomfortable to you. Best thing ever.

Installing the three remote temperature sensors around the house, I am now able to effectively control temperature from any of the three locations, independent of the main thermostat. This eliminates having additional wiring run and separate thermostats installed at those locations. The temperature sensors are seamlessly integrated with the nest app. You can change a selected temperature sensor from within the app and remotely from over the web when away from home. I am impressed!

Super basic. These things shouldn't be more than $20 though. All the software allows for is to read the temp in a room and to schedule what temp it should be for that time of day. It doesn't have a proximity sensor or can't average temperatures across sensors. Unless you have bad insulation you're better off just raising the heat or AC for your thermostat 3-4 degrees at the times you need it. Despite it's downfalls I still recommend it but only because I'm a data guy. I'd wait until they're on sale though.

Dont like that it requires a CR2. It also does NOT work with Google Home. you are required to download the Nest App. The app then sends you msgs that that the sensor is offline when the fact is that the thermostat is offline. Additionally, it states that it may be too far from the thermostat when it has a range of 50' but it is at less then half of that.

Hi Miguel, we appreciate your feedback. We apologize for any inconvenience you may be having with Nest Temperature Sensor. We´ll definitely pass along the details of your suggestions to our product team and see what new things we can cook up. Although the Nest Temperature Sensor should ideally work within a maximum of 50 feet (15 m) of your thermostat, you may need to place them closer together because the wireless range can be reduced by walls, floors, appliances, furniture and other electronics. However, if you have already isolated that there are no possible sources of interference between your Nest thermostat and Nest Temperature Sensor, we suggest reaching out to our support team for further help on the issue here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp

The sensor makes our experience with Nest thermostat significantly better! It's very easy to set up and use. The only wish I have is a better experience within the Nest app for additional sensors. I need to add it under the existing thermostat which kind of doesn't make sense because thermostat is in a different room than the sensor. Otherwise I wouldn't be getting it.. But very happy with the ability to set different temperature targets for different rooms depending on the time of the day.

It’s a great addition to your nest thermostat. You definitely need a thermostat in each room, because every room has a different temperature depending on the position north south east west of the house. The houses that are facing the sun tend to be warmer, so you need to regulate the temperature according to that room.

Took a couple of minutes to set up. Really helps keep the temperature upstairs in my place a little more consistent. No more waking up sweating at night. The Nest thermostat will let you switch between the main thermostat and another thermostat sensor such as this one.
I'm very happy with it. Haven't really thought about it since I mounted it to the wall and I think that's how it should be. No hassles. Just works.

Overall, a great product! Just wish it had a “motion sensor” built in. Otherwise, it’s great. After programming it, solves many issues having only one Nest Thermostat on the main level of a three story home in Potomac, MD.
Gave (& installed it) into my mom’s home to help regulate the bedroom temperature overnight. Happily, it works like a charm... but truly wish it had a internal motion sensor (like other brands in this increasingly competitive marketplace), so the system would better know when she’s in the master bedroom at night! Happily though, it works very well with the Nest thermostat without it!
