Does exactly as it is advertised to do - get an accurate temperature reading and have the ability to create “zones”. I’m giving this 3 stars due to the price and lack of customizable parameters when using (can’t set specific times for zone cooling, doesn’t average temperature between all sensors). There’s no motion / presence detection, unlike competing brand options at similar price points. Had issues during setup with pairing the device to my thermostat, but after taking a break and trying again the setup was instantaneous.

Our HVAC can get really hot or cold in bedrooms with the doors closed as the thermostats are in big open rooms that fluctuate quite a bit with sun, etc. These sensors have been super helpful to balance things out and you are able to control the thermostat using the sensor temps for various times a day. You can only control and set these in the Nest app, not the Home app. Which google keeps trying to move to but seems they haven’t moved these over yet. Additionally it would be nice to pick specific hours rather than “morning, afternoon, evening” type selections.

Hi there, DJSD. Thanks for sharing your experience with the Nest Temperature Sensors. It's great to hear that they have been helpful in balancing the temperatures in your bedrooms, especially when the thermostats are located in large open rooms that experience fluctuations due to sun exposure and other factors. The ability to control the thermostat using sensor temperatures at different times of day is certainly a useful feature. It allows for more precise temperature management and can help create a more comfortable environment in specific areas of your home. We understand your feedback regarding the limitations in the Nest app, particularly the inability to control the sensors through the Home app and the desire for more specific scheduling options. We're continuously working on integrating features across different platforms and enhancing scheduling options, we appreciate your patience and understanding. Rest assured, your feedback has been noted. The sensor works okay but not great. The range on these is great, but it can be highly influenced by the location (wall vs. table). Though these come with a wall mount option, I would not recommend that as the sensors always read multiple degrees colder than the room's actual temp. I have Apple homepods in many of the same rooms, and they gave much more accurate readings--but as those devices don't work with the Nest thermostat, these do the trick.

I recently purchased the Google Nest Temperature Sensor in white and have been extremely impressed with its functionality. The sensor allows me to set a specific temperature for certain rooms in my home and the Nest thermostat automatically adjusts to maintain that temperature. It's so convenient to be able to control the temperature in each room without having to constantly adjust the thermostat manually. The white color blends seamlessly with my home decor and the installation process was quick and easy. Overall, I highly recommend the Google Nest Temperature Sensor for anyone looking to simplify their temperature control.

The sensor works as intended and is within 1 degree F compared to desktop thermometers. But the price is really high for this one function. I don't really have another choice since I've been using the Nest thermostat, but Ecobee might be a better choice considering overall cost if I could choose again.

Simply does temperature. Others I've seen do humidity and CO2 monitoring. Expensive for what it is. Nest might come out with updates. Can't average multiple together have to pick one focus. So if that rooms hot expect the rest of the house to get really cold.

We are still trying to “train” our Nest thermostat and our two sensors. I have found limited information or advice on how to help manage things with the sensors. We have hot areas and cold areas and am concerned how things will be when the outside temperature gets a lot colder.

The Nest app isn't smart with sensors. All you can do is set the current sensor you want to act as the main one for the system, so if I say "Okay Google what's the temperature inside?" It'll only tell me the temperature of whatever sensor I selected last in the app - to change it you must physically go back into the app. Unlike other smart thermostat you can't set the system to balance or average the temperature between sensors, nor can the sensors detect when people are in a room to heat if up like the ecobee. This just acts as a wireless thermometer for your thermostats base. It provides no extra smart functions. It can't detect when you enter the room like competitor's sensors can. It can't detect humidity or any other bonus feature. Lastly, It costs ridiculously way too much knowing all that.

Great temperature sensor. But thats pretty much it. Easy to program to Nest Thermostat setup and install. But for the price I guess I expected a little more. It is what it says it is, a room temperature sensor no more no less. No humidity or occupancy/motion sensor. You can use it to prioritize the temperature of a certain room but as far as I can tell you can't use it to activate smart vents or dampers. I would suggest taking a look at the ecobee sensors or another brand if you want more options. But if you just need a temperature sensor these work just fine but not worth $40/pc for what it does, maybe $20 if you can find them at that price.

I purchased the temperature sensor when I decided to install a Nest Thermostat E for my home. It was really easy to connect to the Nest app and does its job very well reporting the temperature of my upstairs rooms away from the thermostat. My main problem with this is the cost, $40 is really expensive for a temperature sensor and I really hope I don't run into any issues since the warranty isn't all that long. I'm thinking I wouldn't buy this again now that I have a baseline for the temperatures throughout my house and I am able to just set my downstairs thermostat to turn on at a specific temperature that would get my other rooms to the temperature I desire.

This is a very simple device. It tells the temperature and reports that info back to the thermostat. Then, within the app you can choose to have it dictate, per room, where it should prioritize heating or cooling. However, it does absolutely nothing else. *Want to ask google home about the temperature in a room with this sensor? Nope. *Want to tell the humidity in another room via this sensor? Nope. *Want to have google home/assistant even recognize the sensor as a device? Nope. This could have been so much better if it just did the above. For $39 it should have.

      Hi Jordan,

We appreciate your feedback on Nest Temperature Sensor.

Nest Temperature Sensor has been designed to assist Nest thermostats in adjusting the temperature of a target room. Once you select the sensor as your main temperature sensor in the Nest app, your Nest thermostat will run your HVAC until the temperature in that room gets adjusted to the target temperature.

As long as you select the sensor as your main temperature sensor in the Nest app, when you ask Google Home the temperature, it will tell you the temperature it reads from Nest Temperature Sensor. Additionally, the sensor is directly connected to your Nest thermostat, not to Google Home.

Having said that, we'll pass along your feedback to our teams as we're always looking for ways to improve our products. Nest

This sensor is a great idea to monitor the temperature in any room. My problem is that is it doesn't quite work in conjunction, rather it acts as a replacement to the nest thermostat sensor. On the other hand, if you had multiple systems or partitioned cooling that works independently for each room, this may be a good addition. If you don't have such system, save your money for something else.

Hello there, Mario. Thanks for the feedback you shared. We hear your concern about the Nest Temperature Sensor.

Most homes don’t have the same temperature in every room. The temperature can vary because of the number of windows, size of the room, amount of sunlight, and other factors. If you install a Nest Temperature Sensor in a room, the sensor measures that room's temperature and sends it to your thermostat. Your thermostat can then use the sensor temperature to keep you more comfortable. For example, you might want a temperature sensor if you have a multi-story home. A temperature sensor can help your thermostat keep you comfortable on the floor you choose, at the time of day you choose. if your thermostat is in an out-of-the-way location, or if you spend a lot of time in a room other than the one your thermostat is in, a temperature sensor might help keep you more comfortable.

bought this for my home and used it for the downstairs thermostat. It gives you temp of the room but does not have functional value. Does not communicate with the thermostat to stay in a particular rang for the room of interest. I don't see the point of having such an instrument. A thermometer would do the same job without the hefty price tag. Its not worth it.

I bought these to monitor the varying temperatures in sections of my home. Some rooms are colder than others so the idea was to utilize the sensor in the colder room to tell thermostat keep heating til that specific room hit the targeted temp. This can be set in the Nest App. Works great when it works but some sensors go offline, maybe due to distance from the thermostat. Hopefully Google/Nest can fix this connectivity issue..

I bought this to regulate the air and ensure my nest thermostat was not operating only by the temperature of the room it is in. I put this around 1200 feet away and in two rooms away. It would not register between the thicker walls. Disappointing and will be returning. Did not work for my use unfortunately.

Unlike the Nest thermostat, it doesn't measure humidity in the room. It measures the temperature and you could switch your thermostat to follow it's temperature rather than where the thermostat is, but I feel it's too expensive for being a simple temperature sensor.
