Google Wi-fi Pro, great upgrade from 2nd gen Nest

Owned for 1 month when reviewed.This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Needed greater speed from my WiFi after going from cable to fiber so I purchased the Nest Wi-fi Pro to replace my Google Nest 2nd gen Wi-fi system. The upgrade really upgraded my speed and got greater distance, even out to our pool which is on a different lot from our house. I also really like that each point does have an ethernet connection also, unlike the 2nd gen points.

Best Buy quality control on the other hand is very disappointing. I bought the Open Box package and the box arrived with no ethernet cable. I was able to borrow some ethernet wires from my neighbor to set things up and the Nest Pro is providing me excellent coverage through out the house. The setup was intuitive, although I wish there was a way to set it up via the web browser as well. However, when I reached the Best Buy customer support to send me the missing wires, they told me to pack up the items and bring to a store; that is just flat out silly and would cause me a bunch of down time so I decided to buy the wires from monoprice. I wish Best Buy would simply ship me the missing parts instead of making me go through the process of undoing my setup and taking to the store.

It provides good coverage of our home. However, I am not sure if it's the mesh system that causes a lot of issue with our wi-fi. We had the Google mesh system before purchasing this one and it worked very well. I am still trying to figure out if the issue my wi-fi or the mesh. Also, I had to purchase a new printer because the new mesh doesn't connect to the old printer.

Posted .Hey there, GeorgeT. We appreciate your feedback on Nest Wifi Pro. Nest Wifi Pro (Wi-Fi 6E) can't be combined with Nest Wifi or Google Wifi (Wi-Fi 5) in a mesh network. It uses the 6 GHz band to form its mesh network, while earlier generation products such as Nest Wifi and Google Wifi use only the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands for mesh connections. Posted .Hey there, JaklinA. Sorry to see the Nest Wifi Pro wasn’t quite the upgrade you expected. There could be a few things impacting your connection — here are some ways to improve this:
1. Your device is far from your router: often moving your device closer to your router or point will result in improved speeds.
2. Building materials and other objects may slow your connection: if possible, try to use your device within a clear line of sight to your router or point.
3. Some devices do not support the faster Wi-Fi standards: speed is dependent on both the router or point and the device that is connected to it. If you have an older device, it’s likely it won’t support the latest standards for the fastest speeds.

One of the big features is web filtering for the kids straight. Easy forward getting it connected and set up. The only thing I would say negative is that it only has one Ethernet port.

I upgraded my internet from cable to fiber and my old nest wifi 5 mesh system couldn't support the gigabit speed even with the ethernet backhaul. So i upgraded to this Nest wifi 6e Pro. Now I get around 700 mbps, (with cat 5e ethernet backhaul) if I am line of sight with one oft he point or main router, which is more than enough for me. it's been more than a month and absolutely no glitches whatsoever. Nobody in the house is complaining about speed now. it was well worth the money.
