A large doorbell camera
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had the old Nest Hello, which was wired, and it recently stopped working. I am not sure if the failure was the doorbell wiring, (had sparked the circuit installing new switches) or the doorbell, so I decided to venture into the wireless arena. Other than the large size, it works as well as the previous model. This doorbell is large. I presume part of the size is due to the need for a battery, though I was still surprised when I opened the box. It is not as deep as the older model, but twice the height and 50% wider. Due to the mostly white casing, it actually hides better on the door trim than the previous model, so it is only noticeable when up close. The install was easy, and completed through the Home App. Just as before, once started, step-by-step instructions are provided. Setting up a motion zone was also easy, though since this is part of the new Nest line-up it has to be done through the phone app. While the loss of a web view, and the ability to refine a zone through the large screen, is a bit frustrating; the Nest Website was so minimal that there is not much lost. The motion zone setup on the Home App has more flexibility since it includes an option for notifications from moving vehicles and animals. (no false motion notifications for the neighbor's cat) The battery came about 65% charged, and I recently was notified I had a week of battery left. Based on this burn rate, it looks like the camera should last a couple of weeks during the winter. I am hoping for longer battery life during the summer months. Overall, the camera is a decent camera, and allows installation without having to worry about wiring.

Great buy
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very easy to install and use. It comes with clear instructions and there are also videos showing you how to follow the steps, which was very helpful in my case. I bought the battery model but ended up being able to connect to the electricity with no issues with the same device. My only recommendation would be to make the wedge adjustable because I would have liked it to be a little bit more turned towards the front (I had to install it on a side wall, trying to cover the holes where the old doorbell was)

Good Camera
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The picture quality is great and love how it is more suited to see all the area. Installation is pretty simple. Attaching the camera to the plate if you are using the angle piece is a little frustrating and it is also very annoying how you can only use this in the google home app even if you hard wire it. That is the reason for the deduction in stars. If it is hardwired you should have the ability to use the in the Nest app.

Very good product.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Very nice doorbell camera. Using it with Nest hub max. Awesome product. Easy to install. You can setup level of sensitivity, facial recognition, package and animal recognition. The only drawback is the battery drains faster when all of the above features are turned on. Reduces it to Roughly around 1 week, otherwise would last a few months if you decide to use it only as a doorbell camera which only works when someone rings the bell. Removing from the base and charging it not that hard at all. A small mini key like metal piece comes with the purchase to remove, I hanged it next to my car key chain. Highly recommend it everyone.

The best I've tried.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Far beyond any other battery powered smart doorbell I have ever tried. My house is too old to be wired for a doorbell so I've struggled a lot with this. I tried Ring, I've tried an indiegigo doorbell from Wuuk... Basically if it has battery in the name I've used it. This was effortless to set up. Doesn't require a separate chime unit to plug in like the others. It automatically rings on my home minis (all of mine are first gens too, so not the nest mini) and anyone who is connected to my Google home automatically gets notifications too. The response time is quick, almost instant, and the camera quality is super clear. It even tells me if the type of motion detection is a person or a car or a dog, etc. Worth the money on this one!

Great camera, app could be better
||Posted . Owned for 7 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I used to have a different brand camera that I really disliked after while and I was hesitant to get this Nest because it was a little more than I wanted to spent up front and monthly. I bought it to “try out” and ended up sticking with it because it was light years better than the one I had previously. The app is a little glitchy for me when someone rings the bell, it’s like a delay in opening the app to see who’s ringing…could be just my phone. I have 2 complaints. 1) the way it connects to the mount on the wall…it’s not secure…like that mechanism could’ve been built wayyyy better! 2) battery life could be a little better also. But the video is clear, the home app is solid and I connected to my google speaker which acts as a chime for my battery powered bell. I recommend.

Beautiful design and great functionality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my second Nest (Google) doorbell. The first was wired, but the wireless appealed to me. The doorbell _can_ be wired, but it has a sufficiently large battery inside to get the job done. My first Nest doorbell was added via the Nest app, but this doorbell must be added via the Google Home app. This means you'll need to have (or create) a Google account. Thus far, I've added my doorbell to my home in the Google Home app, and have fully charged it. I've also played around with it a bit to make sure the basic functionality is as expected, and of course it is. Camera resolution is 960p, kind of an odd resolution, but the quality of the video is excellent. Next step is to 3D print a bracket to match my home's cedar siding angles so that the doorbell is oriented properly and I get the "just right" angle. Yes, I know that is not necessary, but I'm a bit on the OCD side so...

Solid Video Doorbell with Flexible Power Options
||Posted . Owned for 4 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Google Nest Doorbell is a solid pick for anyone in the Google ecosystem. I really liked that even though it says batter operated, it offers both battery and wired options—I went with wired so I don’t have to deal with recharging. Setup was quick and seamless, integrating smoothly with my existing Nest devices. Video quality is clear, notifications are reliable, and it just works. If you're in the Nest ecosystem, it's an easy recommendation.

Nice camera
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this because I already have a nest camera and you can have as many cameras as you want for one price on the plan. I went with battery because we do not have an existing doorbell. The video quality is excellent. My other nest cam is wired so it records continuously, i did not relaize that this only records when you have movement, a package or it sees a person or an animal. It also alearts you when your package is removed from view, cool feature. So you do not get the convince of continuously recording. We also live on a busy road and the movement was killing the battery very fast. I was able to adjust the movemant field so it doesn't record the traffic on the road so now my battery life has doubled. All in all I do like the camera and now we have a doorbell we didn't have before. I was able to connect to Alexa so we do get a notification when someone rings the bell. I like nest products and would have purchased this even with the negative things I listed. Im going to buy the two pack of cameras and wire them so we have full coverage of our property.

Posted .Hi Nester, thanks for sharing your feedback to let us know of your concerns with using the Nest Doorbell (battery). We’re glad that you like some of its features, but are sorry to learn that your experience with the recording functionality and the battery life has been less than ideal.
Nest Doorbell (battery)’s built-in rechargeable battery provides a convenient, wire-free installation. However, even when wired for continuous charging, it does not offer 10 days of 24/7 video history with Nest Aware Plus.To optimize battery life, it offers event video history and will detect and capture important activity at your door, so you can focus on the details that need your attention.
Also, you can extend the battery life of your doorbell by adjusting video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. That way, you don’t have to charge the battery more often than you should. You may also consider connecting your camera to a power outlet with the included or optional power adapter for continuous power and to keep the battery charged. Please note that the power adapter included is not weatherproof and not intended for outdoor use, and you can use a compatible weatherproof cable (sold separately).

larger than expected
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Over all, I like this doorbell. It's the Google Home app that i hate. I bought 2 , one for the frint and back of the house. Installation was smooth and very easy. I have Nest Aware already from when i bought Nest dorbell (wired) which is peeling. Video is good, not great. Notifications do come in quicker which was an issue with the orginal dorbell. The Google Home app needs a lot of work. App is put together very sloppy. But this review is for the doorbell , not the app.I bought the Snow white and Lien.

Works well, when it works.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The camera and zone settings work well for tracking visitors and packages while living in a city, but the battery life is awful. Our apartment did not have doorbell wiring so we opted for the battery-powered version. It dies VERY quickly, normally every 2-3 days, but in the extreme heat or cold it can last for as little as a few hours. If you live in a city, hire a contractor to run the proper wiring, otherwise you'll be charging your doorbell more than you use it.

Posted .Hey there, Sarah. We’re sorry to hear you’re having to charge the Nest Doorbell (Battery) so often. The battery life will depend on factors including activity, temperature, and selected camera settings. On average here’s how long the battery will last on a single charge:
Busy - About 1 month battery life (about 25 - 30 recorded events per day)
Typical - About 2.5 months battery life (about 13 - 16 recorded events per day)
Quiet - About 6 months battery life (about 2 - 5 recorded events per day)
Here’s a few tips to conserve battery:
1. Optimize its video quality.
2. Shorten the length of time for which events are recorded.
3. Take longer to begin recording between events.

Good working Door bell to use at Home.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really like the look of this doorbell! it is larger than other video doorbells but that's likely to have a longer lasting battery in it. Regardless, it is still slim and sleek and adds a nice improvement to your front door area! - Installation was SO easy! The configuration is really very friendly using Google Home App, all the time take you from the hand until is ready for use. The battery is good but I wish it can be have longer time durability before charging, with a normal slow use, can be lasting at least 2 months without charging, but if it use very frequently, could last 3 weeks before charging. The camera resolution is very nice and clear, like a professional expensive cellular. One of the things that I do not like is that to take out is very easy and can be stole fast. to solve this, I have to put a small gate protection. If you want to record 7/24 then you have to have a tablet or cellular with a very big memory, since the record depends on How many memory you have on the linked device you use to record.

Much Larger Than I Expected
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great to have a decent battery-powered option for a doorbell and Google Home is pretty simple to integrate with. However, because this needs a battery it is HUGE. Much bigger than the size of the wired doorbell. It also needs charging every couple of weeks depending on how busy the area it monitors is. It would be nice if a.) it came with a charger (it comes with a cable) and b.) the charging port was on the side instead of on the back. Also, despite the instructions being fairly clear, I couldn’t quite tell when the doorbell clicked into place on the mount. It doesn’t have a very satisfying/clear click when it’s secure. This led to it falling off on one occasion, so be careful it’s actually secure. I’m having an issue where I get two phone notifications every time it sees a person at the door instead of just one notification. Overall it’s still a solid option for a battery doorbell and Google Home is hard to beat for simplicity.

Great doorbell option by google
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I ordered the wireless camera because I didn't have a doorbell previously. Install was a breeze, and set up on my phone was quick. On the Google home app you get to customize the alerts you want to receive. The unit can be removed with a special key to charge with a usb-c charger (only the cable is provided) for about 4 hours. The two complaints I have are battery life, but that can be remedied by turning off some alerts. The second would be the newest video alert is not available until later, not all the times but it happens. Overall I'm pleased with the product.

Posted .Hey there, Oscarv956. We appreciate your feedback on Nest Doorbell (battery). We're glad that the setup and installation went easy for you. We hear your concerns about the battery life along with the video alerts.
Aside from turning off some alerts, you can extend the battery life by adjusting the settings like video quality, length of video clips, time between recorded events, and using activity zones to monitor specific areas. Check this link for tips on how to save the battery: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10901611
Also, you may need to check for any range issue or wireless interference that can affect the overall performance of your doorbell. Sometimes the device may pass the connection test during setup, but will struggle to stay connected if it’s just a bit too far away from your router. You may also check for objects such as mirrors and refrigerators between the doorbell and your router as these items could block the connection. Rings My 50's Mechanical Doorbells Just Fine Too!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I already had another premium brand smart doorbell (R**G) and I replaced it with this Google Nest Doorbell Battery model as the old one had seen better days and had quit ringing the old inside doorbells. They call this the battery model however you can direct wire it to an existing electric transformer doorbell chime for power as well so you don't need to remove and charge the doorbell as it needs it. The initial charge needs to be done with the included USB C cord and any standard USB power supply plug that you provide, not included. This doorbell rings the old chimes just fine without the additional transformer that is required that you purchase to use this with an electronic chime. Installation is simple and I had no problems adding it to my dual band (2.5ghz and 5ghz) mesh router. The Google Home App is what you use to view the camera in the doorbell, get your notifications you select in the settings and use the doorbell as an intercom while viewing the camera feed or when someone rings the doorbell. You can also set it to detect motion if desired, but I have another security camera on the porch I use for that function. We have a rather active street that I don't care to have trigger my doorbells camera in any way so in the settings I set the active zone to my front porch only but it can cover a much larger area if that is what works for you. Be sure and go through the settings of the camera in the Google Home App so you get the notifications for the features you desire as well as flipping on the ring doorbell feature if you want that to happen in addition to the phone notification, otherwise its just going to notify you on your smartphone and that's it, but that may be enough for some folks. But I wanted my old mechanical chimes to notify us as well. The camera itself has good resolution and the speaker for two way communication or using one of their preset responses is more than adequate and its volume can be adjusted. I will continue to play with it and learn more about it but initially we are well pleased with its look, features and function.

||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I like the sleek, minimalist design and the color that is cool. Terrible battery life
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love the design. I have a brick house and I didn’t want to have to drill into the brick, so this fit perfectly on the wooden door frame. The video quality itself is good, however the battery life is terrible. I had to set it to conserve battery life, but the motion is triggered a lot less than when it’s in balanced battery mode. So much that it cuts off anybody walking up to my front door and you can’t even see their face. Totally worthless since I have to charge it at least once a week.
