Really simple to see and do everything that is needed all within the app. I think people who are only use to using the nest app are having issues.

Google Nest Doorbell (Battery Powered)

This has made their lives so much better being able to know when anyone is at the door. Setup was simple and I was able to get it working on their phone and the little talking devices in the house so that they know when someone's there with or without their phone. Make sure you use a measuring device to get the correct height and play around with the positioning before mounting to make sure you get the optimal position with as few holes as possible. The battery has lasted longer than I imagined without needing to be plugged back in.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.My husband and I purchased a Nest doorbell from our local Best Buy in March 2024. We set it up only for the battery to die within 48 hours. We charged it inside (4 hours), only for the same thing to happen again but in less than 24 hours. My husband is an engineer and decided to re-wire our house so that it could be plugged in all the time (this took at least a week of electrical work). It seemed to charge fine and do well for a few days. After that would not hold a charge, even when actively plugged in! We clearly received a defective product. Best Buy claimed since returned it outside of the 2 week return window (2 weeks?!?) we were not eligible for a refund or an exchange. We attempted to return within 30 days. Apparently there's no Google warranty. Buyer beware - return policy is terrible, even for defective products.

My biggest complaint is that you are unable to change the name or password for the Wi-Fi that the doorbell is connected to without doing a factory reset. I would also like it to act as a motion detector for other smart appliances, such as lighting, but this is more of an inconvenience than a real problem.

Battery life SUCKS!

It no longer charges easily. During the winter it only lasts 24hrs, we are charging it daily.....Im going wired! We also have the yard camera (battey), I don't have any issues with that one; which is posted up on the bay window of my house. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THE BATTERY DOORBELL IF YOU LIVE WHERE THE WINTER TEMPS ARE UNDER 45 DEGREES!

Posted .Hi there, MichelleD. Thanks for posting a review about the Nest Doorbell (battery). We hear your concerns about its battery charging behavior during extreme cold weather.
At temperatures between -4°F (-20°C) and 32°F (0°C), the battery can still power your device, but it won’t charge. It may also drain more quickly than usual. At temperatures close to -4°F (-20°C), your battery may have less than half the life that it has in warm weather. The camera will continue to work, but the battery will drain because it can’t be charged. You need to bring it inside to a warm place, preferably at room temperature so the battery can start to charge slowly once its temperature rises past 32°F (0°C). It will charge faster when it warms up. For wired installation setups with a Nest Cam (battery), the wires power the camera directly. At temperatures below freezing, the battery won’t charge, but as long as the wired power source is available, the camera can operate in temperatures down to -4°F (-20°C).

Works great until you change your wifi

Posted .Hi gamelover, thanks for letting us know about the issue. We're sorry for any difficulty you may be experiencing, when resetting Nest Doorbell (Battery). Here’s what’ll happen after you factory reset your camera or doorbell:
- Your camera’s personalized settings will revert to default settings.
- Your camera’s entire video history and snapshots will be deleted. Once your video history and snapshots are deleted, they cannot be recovered.
- If you want to save any video footage before you perform the factory reset, create video clips or timelapses and download the files to your phone or computer.
- Also, your camera will forget the Wi-Fi network name and password, and will be “Offline” in the app. You may need to set up your Nest Doorbell again.

Battery stops charging after 2 years...
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought my Nest Doorbell Camera in 2021. I loved it. Although, you do have to charge it eventually. I felt like the first 2 years it was hold charge great. I had no issues with battery until recently. It wont hold a charge. I went through Best Buy for supprt to see if they could teplace the battery and they basically told me I had it for too long. Since the Manufacture warranty is a year. There is nothing they can do. It's upsetting that it only lasted a fe wyears and now ill have to buy a new one. And Besy Buy or google wont replace it. If you are planning to buy a doorbell camera buy one where the company or manufacymurer guarantees their product. Even after warranty. Maybe im the only one that thi ks something this expensive should be replaced when there is an issue like this.
