Picture quality is awesome! Battery life isn’t quite as expected (but still good). I receive messages that the device may not be working properly because of the temperature.

Hello MusicLover, thanks for sharing your feedback with us, and we’re glad that you find the picture quality of the Nest Doorbell (battery) awesome. We’re sorry to hear that the battery life has not exceeded your expectations.

If you’ve connected your Nest Doorbell (battery) to your existing doorbell wiring, the wires don’t directly power the doorbell. Instead, the battery is trickle charged by the power that comes through the wires, and the doorbell runs off the battery charge. At temperatures between -4°F (-20°C) and 32°F (0°C), the doorbell can continue to work, but the battery will drain because it can’t be charged. If the battery drains completely, the doorbell will shut down, and you’ll need to bring it inside to be charged. So if the temperature is below 32°F (0°C) and the battery is low, bring it inside to a warm place, preferably at room temperature. The battery can start to charge slowly once its temperature rises past 32°F (0°C). It will charge faster when it warms up.

Your feedback counts as we’re always on the lookout for opportunities to improve our products and services. And if you run into any other concerns around the features or performance of the doorbell, contact us anytime here so we can help:: https://support.google.com/googlenest/gethelp Nest

The device started malfunctioning shortly after installation. I installed it about two weeks after delivery. At first, the camera began turning on and off repeatedly. I unmounted it and reinstalled it, which temporarily fixed the issue. However, after a power outage and Wi-Fi interruption, the same malfunction returned. When I contacted Best Buy to return it, I was told it was no longer eligible because it was beyond the return window. Be aware: the return policy is only 15 days. I then contacted Google support. The technician suggested a factory reset and asked me to install an app to guide me through the process, which required granting access to my phone. I became uncomfortable when I was prompted to enter my password while screen sharing, so I stopped the session. Overall, this experience was frustrating and disappointing. Based on my experience, I would not recommend the battery version of this doorbell.

I bought the battery version so that if I want to remove it, it's not too difficult and won't have to mess with wiring. Plus, if it ever stopped working I still have my normal doorbell. Anyways, aside from that, I love being notified of when my packages arrive at my door. You can set it to where it only covers your porch area. I say that because it CAN see out to the street. So far it's given me peace of mind and added security knowing I can see what's going on outside my front door without actually going up to the door. With my house there's an annoying side window where folks could peek in if they wanted. Now with this doorbell I don't have to worry about that. The google home app works well with this. Overall it's pretty straightforward and to the point. I chose this over the blink/ring products from amazon because those just seem cheaply made with poor quality control. These google products are well-made and google ensures they are made to standard.

This is a good video doorbell. But missing out on features. I live in IL and it does not have face detection available since IL passed a law to prohibit this feature. You also pretty much need to subscribe. The free version is 3 hrs span. So if something happens at night while you are a sleep, you won't be able to know what happen if it happened over 3 hrs ago. Also, wished it had 24/7 recordings like prior. The good things is the sensor is really good. My other family member has the Ring but many times it doesn't sense motion when standing in their porch. The nest can detect is animal, person, or package. And if package left the camera's view.

We already had the Google Mesh Wifi set up at home and this was very easy to add to the ecosystem. The video is very clear and we were able to have it use our existing old-school doorbell which was a nice feature. It has already aided in finding lost packages and deterring crime within 3 weeks of purchase. Pairing smart devices requires downloading the manufacturer's app in addition to the Google Home app but the devices are working seamlessly through the Google Home app and through voice commands. I also appreciate that it provides better data security over Ring. The only thing that is a downside is that your MUST have the Google Home app and cannot access the features/setup through a regular computer interface.

Overall this is a great video doorbell with amazing night video. It sends a msg to your phone app but it would be great if you had the choice to have a video popup notification also? My doorbell just went through its 2nd winter and the battery is holding a charge for about a week now which is disappointing. recommend buying 2+ year extended warranty from BB to fix this issue. sadly I did not so I am stuck charging it weekly and it most likely will not hold any charge soon at this rate. Other than that, this product is amazingly good for the price.

Hello there, kathy. Thanks for sharing your feedback, and we appreciate that you like the Nest Doorbell (battery). We hear your concerns about having video popup notifications, and about its battery life during extreme cold weather.

It will charge faster when it warms up.

Very slim, sleek, and easy to install. Picture quality is terrific. The only downside is that it doesn't link to a doorbell chime. I had to buy a google mini for the doorbell notifications (in addition to the notifications received on my phone via the google home app). Very happy overall with the purchase.

Hi Kevinm, we greatly appreciate your feedback on Nest Doorbell (Battery). We’re glad that you’re happy overall with the purchase, but are sorry to hear that it doesn’t link to a doorbell chime. To use an indoor chime, you need to have the Nest Doorbell (battery) connected to wire terminals. The Nest Doorbell (battery) can run on battery power alone or it can be connected to your doorbell system wires for continuous charging. While the Nest doorbell can replace most wired doorbells, there are some cases where the doorbell system either doesn’t give enough power or gives too much power. You should check that your current doorbell can be replaced by the Nest doorbell. Here’s a link with a guide for wired installation: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/10732535

Overall pretty easy setup, good battery life, and video quality. Notifications are a bit delayed. The biggest problem is when trying to configure setup with a new wifi network, the doorbell is unable to connect despite performing a factory reset. I'll have to purchase a new doorbell after 2.5 years of owning it.

Thanks for reaching out about your Nest Doorbell (Battery). While we’re glad you enjoyed the battery life and video quality, we’re sorry you're running into issues reconnecting it after a factory reset — that is definitely out of the ordinary. Once you factory reset the device, you’ll need to remove it from the Google Home app. Here’s how to do it:

      1. Open the app > tap Settings > Remove device > Confirm.

Good, but some small annoying things... It was easy to install and track activity at your door and getting alerts on your phone when someone rings the bell or delivers a package. We assumed that this would work with the Nest application, but the battery powered doorbell does not. You must use the Google Home app instead. Adding a remote chime (so you can hear when someone rings the bell) is also not straightforward. Options are more limited for the batter powered doorbell here as well. We have a lot of activity, but the battery still lasts about 8 weeks between charges
