Setting up through Google Home app was a breeze. I don't think you really need the Google Wifi app anymore, since you can use the GH app for settings, etc.. Better coverage and way faster than Google Wifi mesh system. I needed 2 pucks with the older mesh system and now I only need the Nest router hooked up to my modem to have strong, fast, reliable Wifi in every space of the house. Very pleased with my purchase!!

    Nice upgrade from Google WiFi

I purchased two of these to replace a three-puck Google WiFi system I had hard-wired together (through a switch). The Google WiFi system served me well and I highly recommend, however as a technology enthusiast, I couldn't pass up the new features the Google Nest Router offered over the original. The main features I really enjoy on the Google Nest router - and noticed an improvement on - are the MU-MIMO support and the AC2200 speed. I was not interested in the Nest WiFi Points since they do not have an Ethernet port (i.e. wireless mesh only). If I had any complaints, it would be about the Google Home app which is used to setup the Nest Router, and it's missing some nice features the original Google WiFi app has; however the Google WiFi app can still be used for the advanced features with the Nest Router, but I look forward to these advanced features migrating to the Google Home app. Regarding WiFi 6, for me I do not have any devices that support WiFi 6 and so this was not a concern since it will take time for (replacement of) my devices to support the next-gen wireless standard. Prior to using Google's routers, I used a higher-end Linksys wrt32x router with OpenWrt installed, but I now enjoy the simplicity that Google offers (I have less time to tweak routers these days). The Linksys may have been faster overall, however because I only had one router, the location where the router resided didn't offer good speeds at the outer rooms of my home and so the Nest Router is faster overall in this regard. Regardless, I highly recommend this product for those looking for automatic updates, WiFi speed and range improvements, easy setup, easy setup of a guest network, remote access to your home network when away, and support for WPA3 (security).

I wanted to upgrade from my old Google Wifi and OnHub set up. I am using two Nest Wifi routers, and have added one old Google Wifi Puck to help with coverage in a far-off corner of my home. The difference in speed and coverage is fantastic. It was also easy to set up. Unfortunately, I have had some issues. Having to use both the Google Home and Google Wifi app is a pain. I have no idea why Google would be ok with that kind of set up. A big source of frustration is that my Sonos speakers have been rendered useless (I am getting ready to sell them). This is because they don't seem to work well with the Nest mesh system. They constantly drop out of coverage, and it's impossible to have more than one Sonos speaker even showing as available at any time. The final problem is that while i have 25 devices on my wifi network, the Google apps rarely show more than 12. Again, I have no idea why, but it's been extremely frustrating. I didn't have these issues with Google Wifi. I'm close to selling this system and trying Eero. This seems to be a "miss" by Google.

      Hi Bdub1,

Thanks for sharing your feedback with us. We know it can be frustrating to deal with connections issues.

When creating a Wi-Fi mesh with Nest Wifi and Google Wifi points, you can use Google Home app for the setup. Before adding Google Wifi point to the mesh, you may need to perform a factory reset to erase all the settings stored in Google Wifi point to avoid any issues. You can find out more on factory reset here: https://support.google.com/googlenest/answer/6246619

As for the dropping connection issue, you can try a power cycle.
      - Perform a power cycle by disconnecting both your modem and Nest WiFi router and points, leave them unplugged for 5 minutes, make sure that the modem and Nest WiFi router lights turn off completely before plugging them back in.
      - Some modems have backup battery packs, you will need to disconnect battery packs, too.
      - You can turn off or unplug Sonos speaker to restart and refresh connection.
      - Plug your modem and Nest WiFi router back to the power source, and allow them to turn on fully, then connect the router to the modem via the WAN port with an Ethernet cable. Then, plug the wifi points.
      - Lastly, connect your Sonos speaker and observe.

If the issue still persists, please feel free to contact us here: https://support.google.com/wifi/contactflow
We'd be happy to check it out, and do our best to provide you with a resolution. Nest

I had a Netgear Nighthawk Router that just stopped working (it was approximately 6 years old) , so I went to Best Buy to find a new router. The Nighthawk worked well, but the app was not easy to use, so I could not update it when it needed to be and I am pretty tech savvy. It was also very large. I was not too keen on getting NetGear again, but it is one of the top brands of routers. I asked for help and after talking about several brands, I decided to go with Google Nest. It is very small and was so easy to set up. Price was good compared with the others and it covers up to 2000 sq. ft. which was enough for our home. We noticed a difference right away in our internet speeds. The other router must have been having issues before it quit. I would definitely recommend this router if you have one level house and 2000 sq ft or less. Great for the money!

Reviews for this system were sterling but initially, I tried to go with a Netgear Nighthawk device. In short, the Netgear was returned and in came Le Google Nest. Setup was a breeze and the range on this thing is simply impressive. The main router provides a stronger signal with faster and more consistent speeds than what Xfinity's box provided and destroyed the Netgear Nighthawk in all meaningful categories. If you're looking for in-depth networking configuration options - this isn't for you. This is consumer grade (albeit high-end) networking tech. If you want fancy configuration options, you're better off with a Ubiquiti Unifi system or some other comparable enterprise system. This does NOT have WiFi 6 compatibility but that's not mainstream yet and shouldn't be a dealbreaker (until 2022 or so) If you need fast & stable blanket coverage for your home, this is a great option.

I have all smart google things in my home like the google home, the minis, nest cam, and also a bunch of to link Kasa light switches. I have a three story home and my netgear for some odd reason was having trouble with all my google speakers. None of the google speakers would connect to the WiFi, kept getting an error about not being on the same WiFi network which I clearly was on. So I said forget this let me go buy a google WiFi and it has to work. Bought this bad boy, setup the WiFi in a few minutes boom! Everything connected with ease and even got a stronger signal throughout the house with faster download speeds.

I got this to replace a 5 year old router that was getting flaky. I was resetting it daily because my smart home devices were constantly losing connection. This router is incredible. Set up was super easy. If you can plug in the cords and download an app, you'll be good to go in snap. The coverage is as advertised. My speeds seem faster also. I like that it only shows one network and connects your device to the 2.4 Ghz or 5 Ghz network automatically based on which one will offer better performance. My old router was dual band but had separate networks.

It's really easy to set up and use. I had a 3 node mesh and added this to it. I'm using this as the router to get a little extra coverage since the newer nodes have better distance. it's innocuous and lives up to the Google Nest plug and play idea that will suit the vast majority of people. I don't think very many people would need anything higher performance than this. It's fast, reliable and just seems to keep chugging away. I've got 4 TVs, 3 desktops and 3 laptops on it in addition to a Philips Hue network and a bunch of other stuff... this mesh handles it all without breaking a sweat.

Our included ISP router was just not consistently giving us the speeds that we were paying for. We purchased the Google Nest Router after watching a few review videos on Youtube praising how easy it was to set up and its performance. After setting it up and testing the speeds, we are getting way higher speeds that with the old ISP router. We also noticed extended range from it as well. Our whole house now gets fast WiFi. I would highly recommend.

Purchased this earlier this month. Previously used the older Google wifi router which worked great but still had a few dead spots at the edges of my home. I have Xfinity 150mbps service and currently own my own Netgear cable modem. The newer Google Nest wifi router was easy to set up using Google home app on my iPhone (previous router used Google Wifi stand alone app). I use the google home app with google minis around my home to control my smart home (lights, Nest Hello cam, and Nest thermostats). Great to have everything one on app! Tested speeds show I am getting speeds close to 150 mbps all across my home! Once set up, you really don’t have to change anything unless you want to activate the built in guest network which came in handy during family visits during the holidays!

Pleasantly surprised on how easy it was to integrate the new Nest AC2200 router with the old Google WIFI system. I currently had a three mesh system. I could not stabilize my system from constant drop offs. The addition of the fourth Nest router did the trick. The addition of the new Nest router with the old Google WIFI system was seamless. Overall the improvement is noticeable and satisfactory. One comment. The Nest units are very shockingly expensive.

Works after setup. However if power goes out you need to unplug and then connect starting with the nest connected directly to Verizon router. The n the next one down the mesh,. Overall it improved the signal by one bar and now I get total coverage in the whole upper level. I will need another two for the lower level to complete my mesh. One slight problem is the white routers scratch very easily so handle with care
