Customers are saying

Customers highly value the Nest Wifi's ease of use, extensive coverage, and strong signal, with many praising its simple setup and improved performance. Positive feedback frequently highlights the system's reliable connectivity and extended range. While some find the price to be a drawback, the majority of users report a positive experience. A few users experienced compatibility issues or lag, but these were less frequently reported than the positive aspects.

Boosted everything in my household both range and speed approx 30% (300 to 500mb down even in some cases) the transition form using the Google WiFi app to Google Home to manage networks was a little clunking but after dropping this in and manually resyncing them all, it's working perfectly. Hard wired lines are downstairs, wife is literally gaming and streaming upstairs thanks to this with perfect connection, great speeds and zero downtime

I had a Belkin router for years and was having issues, so I went into Best Buy and the salesperson in the department recommended this one as a replacement. It has been a great improvement over what I had. I don't even need the Chime in order to keep my Ring doorbell connected anymore, it's able to connect to my Google WiFi without an extender. The price is reasonable and it was easy to set up.

If you have an existing google WiFi network, the setup process can be a little complicated. This device requires a different google app and potentially a different gmail account. Setup requires a gmail account. You can connect your legacy mesh devices, but you have to join them to the new network. Tech support was good to get me through these challenges. If this is your first google network, setup should be painless. If not, be patient and it will work out.

We previously had a different mesh system but had some issues. Since the rest of the house has Google products we changed to the Nest. Love how I can check status and control connectivity through the app I’m in every day. This makes working from home a little less stressful. Purchased this unit after a lightning strike took out our original unit.

Decent upgrade from 1st gen but very similar

I bought this to upgrade my main node as I already had the 2017 version of the 1st gen pucks that worked fairly well. I appreciate that it's backwards compatible with the older gen and able to use them as mesh nodes without any hassle. My new home has several walls in between the main node and the locations that it makes to most sense to place the mesh points, so the upgraded antenna on this unit has given my older mesh points a boost. I'm now getting close to double the speed at the ends of my house. It's supposedly rated for 2200 sqft which would cover my whole house on its own, but I haven't tested it out. When replacing the main node I did have to set up everything from scratch and reset the mesh points since there's no way to transfer an existing network to the new unit. Other than that, setup is a breeze guided by the Google Home app. My main complaints are the new plug shape and removal of USB C that the previous gen had, the lack of VLAN tagging, limited upload speeds on PPPoE mode, and limited download speeds in general (I get max ~600 Mbps from my 1 Gbps fiber, the ISP provided router got around ~850 Mbps). If the nest WiFi points had wired backhaul and PoE to use as WAPs I might have considered purchasing them as well. If you want advanced networking features and settings this is not the system for you.

Reliable WiFi and consistent speeds. Haven’t needed to reset it yet. I have a small home. Just needed the router to cover my whole house and it even reaches into my yard. The app is very user friendly. Works great if you have kids. Can set child restrictions. It’s been a life saver with everyone stuck at home using multiple items at the same time. Haven’t had any issues with streaming. Overall I’m very happy

Had a netgear fancy pants $180 router that was never very consistent and had trouble connecting various devices. Reviews for this were great so I took a chance. Took me 5 mins from time to get it out of box to time everything was up and running. Google really nailed it with this and the design is nice. Blends in better than those big black routers everyone else has. If you are on the fence; buy it!

This is my 2nd router for my home - and I love it. I also use the original routers in my business. Although bulkier than the orginal - these double up as voice controlled google assistants. I really cannot tell the difference between this version and the original as far as internet speed or reliability (both are very reliable) but the voice command is a nice addition.

Maybe a bit overkill but each of my 3 kids have a pod in their room. With them all remote learning and my wife and I working from home, this was a great solution to make sure everyone had a strong wifi signal to get their work done. Fairly simple to configure with my Comcast modem, once configured, it just worked as expected. I can now even work remote from my backyard on nice days.

This router has been a game changer... literally. My gaming sessions have been much smoother after upgrading to this router and my internet speeds increased drastically over my old ac1200 router that I had. Another cool thing is that it syncs up with my google home products seamlessly and the setup process was the easiest thing ever, pretty much set up itself.

    2nd router - replacing points

Bought a 2nd Router to replace my 2 points. I found it was more reliable to set up the 2nd router as a point, but connect an Ethernet cable to it as a backhaul. This way all wireless devices that connect to this point will have a solid/fast/reliable connection out to the internet. Does anyone need some Google Points?

Great until it fails: get Geek Squad protection

I originally bought the Nest Wifi mesh router in January 2020 as an upgrade from my 5+ year old TP-Link router. It worked great and I have no complaints for how it functions, especially when paired with one of the Nest Wifi points to eliminate all the dead spots in my house. Unfortunately I have to dock some stars because this router did not last very long. In May 2021, the router stopped working and would no longer connect, constantly rebooting any time I tried to re-install it. I got in contact with Google's customer support, and they were helpful in diagnosing the issue. We determined that it was a hardware failure and that the only fix would be to replace the defective unit. Unfortunately I was a few months past their limited 1-year warranty, so I would have to pay for the replacement myself. I did end up buying another Nest Wifi router because I like its form factor, ease of use, and performance. But this time I got the Best Buy Geek Squad Protection so I know I can get a replacement or my money back if it fails again. I would recommend anyone else looking to get this router to do the same.

I was having Wifi performace problems with the Google Wifi disks I had purchased a couple of years ago. Bought just this one new Nest router, and overall performance improved significantly. If your Wifi is slow, and your house is large, definitely invest in this - very easy setup and backward compatible with existing Google Wifi disks.

It's been excellent so far. It delivers great speeds (Around 850-900 on what is supposed to be 1000 Mbps) throughout our entire apartment, 1200 sqft or so, and was super easy to setup. Controllable from my Google Home app with the rest of my smart devices.

I'm fully invested in google products at home from cameras, to mobile devices, to TV's and everything works much easier so when it was time to upgrade my wifi router I stuck with the new model. The speeds slightly increased but I will need to purchase a second one. Easy to set up and once it's up and running you will pretty much forget you have it.
