Best 7inch Tablet on the Market Period

I know most will compare this to the iPad mini so let's get this out of the way, this machine on a hardware level outplays the mini on every level. This tablet has: A far better screen at a resolution of 1920 by 1080 or about 300ppi Far more RAM 2gb vs 512mb (that's four times as much for those who aren't tech savvy) A faster processor All the while maintaining the same if not more battery life than the mini. Also it's just as thin, and is lighter Build quality is good, rubberized back for good grip, but what makes the product shine is its use. Android 4.3 runs like butter on here, I have not seen a more responsive 7 inch tablet. It is also a vast improvement over the previous generation, which I own as well. You will not see the stutters that are prevalent in the galaxy tab line. All in all its stronger than the mini, a hundred dollars cheaper, and offers the same if not a better user experience. Strongly recommended.

Best tablet of this size on the market

If you are looking for a smaller tablet this IS THE BEST OPTION. As for screen quality, this tablet has more pixels and better resolution than most 10 inch tablets. At this size I can easily hold it in one hand (*which I cannot do with the iPad Mini), it even fits in the back pocket of my jeans. The latest vanilla android operating system is super simple to use and it trains you as you go. If you are comparing to iPad Mini or Kendle this is the way to go. If you are comparing to Samsung Tab or iPad evaluate how large of a screen you want (keep in mind that this screen at 7" vs 10" still has more pixels than the larger tablets) you may want to step up to the lower quality, but larger screens. I almost forgot to mention the speed, over a month of use, I've never been left hung on a screen or seen a jittery swipe. It functions smoothly, and accurately just as you would expect for a device of this type.

This tablet is super fast to use and i really like its responsiveness.. Now this is the only tablet i use....I even took it to a business trip and took 20 pages of notes using the now free word app "Quickoffice" at a conference - using this... Initially after purchasing the tablet the various default apps automatically loaded their latest versions over a few days and then the software/apps stabilized and became perfect for use. Very comfortable to type and hold it in one hand .....I use it for personal use too for social media activities, youtube, music, email and other google apps. Google Now with Jellly Bean is very helpful too. Everything looks great on the screen and i dont miss my old Android 4.0 10inch tablet at all. This tablet is my constant companion now.

Nice Easy to Use Tablet for a Moderate User

I have had this tablet for about 2 months now. I am a fairly low tech person. :-) Not a heavy tablet user. This tablet is sufficient for my uses. Reading email, books, playing games, listening to music, watching Netflix. I have an Android phone and this tablet works & navigates the same way. The screen resolution is very clear. I would not recommend this to someone who wanted to use it for work or study or used it much more than I do. I have enjoyed this tablet and would recommend it for someone with the same level of uses as myself.

I was using the apple iPad 2, and have loved using it until I began to use this nexus 7.. i suppose i was not really noticing the weight and size of the iPad 2, until really beginning to use the nexus 7.. i always wanted to be using my tablet to read, and the nexus 7 is a great size to read from.. the apps on the android are definitely somewhat a little less polished and the graphics sometimes feels like it lags somewhat.., but it works the quad processor on the tablet gets hot when playing games, and the battery drain is very noticeable. i got the google case for it. and makes the heat less noticeable. i nearly have to recharge every night. but again.. for the most part very please with this tablet. and i give it 5 stars because it is affordable and inexpensively priced compared with the samsung and apple.

    Best Tablet on the Market

I've been living with the Nexus 7 (2013) for about a month now and it hasn't let me down in any way. The screen is absolutely amazing, vibrant colors and the ppi is just stunning. The size is exactly what I want for a portable device for reading books/comics, email, news, etc. Benchmarks are making this one of the fastest devices on the market right now, and it's easily noticed in day to day tasks. The battery life is way better than I thought. My job is answering phones, and there's a decent amount of downtime so I read a good bit on the tablet at work, and when I get home the battery, at worst, is 80% left. I thought the stereo speakers would feel a bit like a gimmick but it's just flawless for video watching or games. Only complaint, as I got it on launch, is the lack of accessories. This has already changed, but Best Buy carries a very small variety of accessories specifically for the device and I had to shop else where for a case. Could not recommend this more for a 7 inch tablet. You can spend more and get much worse.

I bought this as a replacement for my aging TF300T tablet on recommendation from several friends and good reviews abounding on the net. They really were right on the money. The tablet is bright and beautiful, ultra quick and responsive in every way. I couldn't be more satisfied with the performance so far. The only thing I would like if I had my "drothers" would be a slightly larger size. I understand that 16x9 resolution is all the rage these days and that a 7" tablet is pretty comfortable and portable for size, however, I still think Apple had it right with their 9-10 inch 4x3 style. I really enjoy reading books and magazines and such on the tablet and although it's plenty crisp and readable, the form factor just "feels" odd ;) Don't let that stop you from picking one of these up though, they really work fantastic!

I used this daily and I switched from the 16 GB to 32 GB because I just wanted extra space. I am a nexus fan and have the nexus 4 and any other future nexus products. This performs very fast and comes with the latest and greatest software and will always be up to date because the updates are sent from Google. I don't care for the camera because I do not use it but it works fairly well when in a rush to take a picture and I can't get my DSLR fast enough. This works great on the beach and with auto brightness is adjust automatically and is just perfect even in full sunlight!! If you are using any of Google's products, G+, drive, Gmail, Keep, etc. this works perfect because they ALL come pre-installed.

The 2012 Nexus 7 was already a great buy but the hardware refresh made it just that much better. I ended up giving my old N7 (2012) to my parents once this arrived. N7 (2013) vs (iPad Mini) 7 inch 1920x1200 display vs 7.9 inch 1024x768 display (Not even HD) 531 LUX (or brightness) vs 457 LUX 2GB RAM (multitasking) vs 1GB RAM 1.5GHZ Quadcore Spapdragon S4 Pro vs 1.0GHZ Dualcore A5 which was the processor in the iPad 2. The cameras are near identical 5pm back and 1.2 front which are both capable of shooting 1080p video. 8.5 hours battery life vs 10.5 hours NFC vs no NFC Price: 16GB $229 vs $329 = $100 cheaper 32GB $269 vs $429 = $160 cheaper 32GB LTE $349 vs $559 = $210 cheaper Plus all of the regular Google features with Jelly Bean 4.3: Google Now Parental controls and user accounts for those with small kids

    Excellent Tablet Choice

I purchased the Nexus 7 to replace a first generation Kindle Fire. Although I liked the Fire I wanted something that was a little more open and would give me access to the Play Store. This tablet is fantastic and does everything I need it to. I recently used it on a flight cross country and was able to watch two full length movies and I still had around 25% battery life left. The size and weight make it perfect for traveling or using around the house all the time. I have been very impressed with the speed of the tablet as well. The internet and games load up lightning quick and I have never noticed any slowdowns in the three months I have been using it. The only drawback, and it is minor, is that the volume doesn't get very loud when using headphones. I tried to use headphones on the plane when watching movies but I couldn't hear anything over the dull roar of the engines and had to resort to turning on subtitles. For as often as this will come up the negative impact is negligible. If you plan on using this tablet to hold numerous movies or large apps I would recommend splurging for the 32gb model. Although I have had no space issues with the 16gb model, I did have to do a little juggling to make room when I wanted to download two movies.

    Almost Perfect Mini Tablet

The new Nexus is exactly what I was looking for in a mini tablet. Excellent screen resolution. Very fast. Perfect size for travel, when you don't want to boot up the laptop, and the smartphone screen is too small to accomplish tasks quickly and efficiently. I had my new Nexus for 10 days, and I was really enjoying it, until it starting rebooting by itself into "safe" mode. At the same time, it wiped out all the folders that I had created to group all the apps I had downloaded from the Play store. Then, the screen started freezing periodically. And like other people, the GPS would work for a while, then lose the satellite signal. I don't have the time or the patience to troubleshoot a brand new product, nor should I have to, so I returned it. I plan on purchasing it again after Google and Asus work out the bugs. From what I've read online, it sounds like the recent software updates from Google may have fixed most of the issues.

Great tablet Love the 7inch size and its so light. It has the best picture quality and the text looks very sharp, as well as it can handle full HD videos. If I just use it for some light web browsing/email I only have to charge it every few days... and event then its only usually 40%. Heavier use I do need to charge more often but it has a very good battery life. Only a few minor downsides... no expandable memory, but I would have gotten 32GB if I needed more. Other slight issues are its kinda difficult to take a screen shot (power and down volume button), you need to press for 2 seconds or so. And no front facing button, this isn't really an issue after using it for a little but if its laying on the table you cant just touch the front to turn it on. Overall great tablet

Fast, light tablet with lots of pixels

This is a fantastic small-size tablet. The screen is gorgeous with lots of pixels. It's light and thin, but still feels comfortable in your hands. It's a Google product so you'll get the latest OS updates. It's faster than my older Galaxy Tab 8.9, but the battery life isn't quite as good, and it doesn't feel quite as solidly built. That said, I've had no problems at all with the build. The top and bottom of the tablet extend well beyond the edge of the screen, which doesn't look terribly sexy, but makes it easier to read the screen while holding the device in landscape orientation. All in all, a fantastic tablet, especially at the price point.

Bought this as my wife's first intro into the smart tablet/phone device market. She has had this for a couple of weeks now and has become very proficient on it. Her one and only complaint is the battery life sucks. She plays no graphic heavy games on it like I would if I owned it, just the simple free stuff & checking into facebook and email friends etc... She will not use this tablet to its full potential. Still, she has to charge it during the course of the day. This is the only reason why I gave it 4 out of 5 stars on value. I've only been aware of it happening 3 times, but the tablet will reboot itself when she is in the middle of something, no matter what she's doing on it. I really dislike this part. I don't know, but if this was due to software updates, you should be giving a warning that your about to be rebooted or at the very least choose when to reboot. She just received her tablet cover last weekend. I like that you can close the cover flap and the tablet will go right to sleep without you having to do this manually. And when you open the front cover flap the table snaps right awake, very nice. I've had my 10" ASUS Transformer for almost 2 years now and when/if I replace that table, this Nexus 7 Ver.2 would definitely be the table I pick up in this price range. Oh, forgot to mention, it works really great with Chromecast!

    Perfect intro to Android tablets

This was my introduction to Android tablets and I'm not disappointed! The price to value ratio for this tablet is great. I watch movies, do email, play games, and manage my tasks and contacts on this device. Having worked with computers for 30 years, the initial hiccups are typical of new technology. The 2nd gen of this device fixed some problems but it still has problems with Bluetooth devices. Some people complain of the touch screen malfunctioning, but I haven't had that problem. I do experience random reboots, but 50% of the computers I have owned did the same thing in their early releases. The battery life is good. The number of apps available to run on the Nexus 7 will keep you busy everyday trying out new apps. I would definitely recommend this for any tablet enthusiast and especially for those just getting into the market for a tablet for the first time.

I have wanted a tablet for awhile now. But couldn't decide if worth it. I really wanted it to be able to take with me and do some of my school work. But tablets don't support a lot of the programs needed for school. I researched and for the money and features this is the best I found in my price range. I did not want. 10" and seems there were few 8". So I went with the 7". I love everything about it except it is too long and narrow. It is not a good proportion. And it has no USB/ SD /HDMI port at all! The size still bothers me a little. But I am getting more used to it. Also I spent the extra money and purchased the tablet cover specifically for this tablet but the position of the power switch and volume keys makes it difficult to press them. All in all I am pretty happy with google nexus 7 purchase.

We recently had our laptop die, and was going to be out for a couple weeks for repair. My first instinct was to buy a Windows Surface to use while it was down, but in the store I came across this gem. To start, it's significantly less expensive than a Surface, and with the exception of Office I prefer the Android layout over Windows 8. I have nothing against the Surface, in fact it was my intention to buy it, but after using it with the keyboard it felt like a necessary purchase, and in the end it would have just been an under powered laptop, rather than a tablet. Very fast processor, quick start-up, the speakers actually feel loud enough, a rare feature on a tablet. Easy set up, ready to use out of the box. It seems fairly rugged as well, my two year old uses it to play games and he's not exactly gentle with it, and no dents or scratches yet.

I purchased a tablet on a whim after a lot of past research and testing store models. I had narrowed it down to the nexus, because Google makes strong products, kindle fire hdx, as my girlfriend wanted one (plus reviews were quite strong), Samsung galaxy note 10.1, because I want a hard tipped stylus rather than bubble one available for most tablets, and lastly the iPad air. I wanted a lot of apps, so I dropped the kindle. I wanted a better quality product, so I dropped the galaxy note. And I didn't want to pay 300 dollars more for a few inches, dropped the iPad. The obvious choice was the Google nexus. This product exceeds my expectations for screen quality, ease of use, app selection, customizability, and multipurpose use. It's great for reading, I can use it for online work, it's great at taking notes, I could even use remote desktop connection. Ultimately for the price and quality I was extremely satisfied. Con's: camera quality is decent, but nothing to brag home about. No SD slot so twhat you buy is what you get, and also I would love a ten inch option.

I purchased the Nexus 7 as a birthday gift for my dad. I was trying to decide between the Nexus and the iPad mini. The associate at Best Buy recommended the Nexus 7 since my dad uses and Android phone and the tablet is an overall better value. It was easy to set up, it's fast and has a beautiful display. It feels great in your hands. I enjoyed playing with it and getting it set up for my dad. In all honesty, it's far more comfortable to work with than my iPad. I'm sort of jealous. My dad loves his tablet and enjoys traveling with it.

This is my first tablet, but I have extensive experience using an ipad that belongs to a family member. I find this unit as visually pleasing and easy to use as her ipad, but it is a lot smaller, lighter and half to price (or less). I didn't really think I needed a tablet or would use one much, but having this has really changed my mind. I use it a lot for work since it gives me relatively mobile access (with Wifi) to the internet. Sure, my phone does the same thing but is not nearly as easy or practical to use. Websites that are pretty much unusable with my phone work great with the Nexus. I bough a cable to connect normal usb card readers to the Nexus and that has allowed me to upload photos taken with my DSLR in the field so I can see them on a bigger screen to evaluate shots. There are a variety of very good apps in the Android market for all sorts of things that are useful for adults. I can't imagine why anyone would buy an ipad over this tablet unless they had some prior commitment to the IOS or just wanted people to see that you owned an ipad.
