    I really like the pixel phone, mostly for the great camera and unlimited storage on my google photos account. I can live with the notch and chin even though they hurt the overall design, what I don't really like is that the hardware itself doesn't offer anything new.

    I would give a 4.5/5 since this phone isn't perfect. But it's pretty close. I'll round up since I'm sure people will be leaving bad reviews because of the notch. It's understandable to not like the notch. I get it. I'm not a huge fan of the notch. But you can easily hide it if it really bothers you. Go with the XL if you want a bigger screen, higher screen pixel density, and a Samsung panel. Go with the regular 3 if you want no notch, and a smaller body. Otherwise they're practically the same phone. The battery size difference ends up evening itself out. So either phone will have similar battery life. The hardware isn't perfect, but it'sn't bad. Google handles the 4 gigs of RAM fine. I wish it had a headphone jack and expandable storage but that's a complaint on a lot of phones in 2018. It doesn't have the best hardware on the market, but that'sn't why I gave it 5 stars. The software is incredible. Stock Android, amazing camera and camera features, assistant call screening, etc. This phone has some serious software inside of it.

    Clean Android OS / hardware is weak

    I have been in the wirless telecon industry 20+ years. I am not an apple fan. I appreciate the freedom of Android OS. I have had my Pixel 3 XL less than 2 weeks. There are two cracks in my screen somehow. They don't start at the edge and spider out...they are in the center of the screen. I don't crack my screens...ever. I still have a Nexus 6P I use in my vehicle that has zero cracks. I am happy with the camera and the software. Disappointed that a $1000 phone is made so cheaply.

    Warranty replacement (bad screen)

    Best Buy was excellent and reshipped to me no hassle a replacement Pixel 3 XL using via next day air. After 4 days the screen malfunctioned and had a vertical magenta line on the screen. Minus one star for only getting 4 days out of the pixel 3 before a hardware failure. Best Buy sent me a prepaid return label for the first phone. Not sure if everyone gets a reship like that no-hassle for similar product issues; was it because it was inside the normal return exchange window or was it was because I'm a my Best Buy elite plus member? Regardless please with that replacement experience. @@@@@@@@ As of this writing I'm at day 11 with the replacement and all is still good. fingers crossed) Took advantage of the black friday deal and paid using the Verizon Device Payments to get the discounted pricing. After paying the first device payment to Verizon the "Pay off device" option enabled a few days later and I paid off the remaining balance successfully to be out from under the no longer under contract for the device. So Verizon Device Payments are kosher for me since they have the escape early payoff option. The pixel 3 supports 5W Qi wireless charging but doesn't support 10W Qi wireless charging. The Pixel 3 only supports "Google's 10W proprietary wireless charging technology." and only chargers vetted through google's "Made for Google" program get fast charging. The "Made for Google" Google Pixel Stand Wireless Charger is priced at the very healthy price of $79! They seem to finally be getting in stock now but $79 is a lot of coin for a wireless charger. Was it really that hard to support the already existing and widely available wireless fast charging (not invented by Google) ? I'd like to subtract half a star for that since Google proprietary stuffs since crippleware is a pet peeve of mine. But since I can't subtract a half star I'll round up so we're still at 4 stars. So it's mostly the build quality longevity issue with the screen that's the concern for me but only time will tell. With the black friday pricing I'm mostly happy so far the value is there. There are lots of new features that I still have not gotten into the habit of fully utilizing. If the phone still has no hardware problems after a couple of years I'd add back the star I subtracted.
