Flagship phones get all the attention with gimmicks and features you don't use and SoC that is far beyond your average user needs. Those bigger SoC eat battery life which is already an issue with the normal Pixel lineup. Moving from a Pixel 3 to the 3a XL I don't notice any degradation in day to day performace. What I did notice is my battery life moved from 13 hours to 28 hours. That's not a typo I get over a full day of usage!! I did lose the wireless charging (never used it anyway), waterproof rating and photo specific processor (photos are slightly slower to render but the quality is exactly the same!). There is literally no reason to buy a discounted Pixel 3 or the new flagship Pixel 4. Get the 3a and enjoy a phone that hits everything you really need out of the park and save a ton of cash while doing it!!

Very pleased with the Google Pixel 3a XL. It's a big upgrade from my Note 5. Only thing I miss is the ease of taking notes with the stylus. Everything else works faster and more smoothly. So far I'm pleased with the camera. Portrait mode works great. Did a little night photography last night and it is pretty impressive (attached photo taken handheld at night with Pixel 3a XL). I don't like spending money on a new phone but I feel like going with the Pixel was the right choice. Having something that works well takes the sting out of dropping the cash. We bought 2 Pixels, my husband is pleased with his as well. Best of luck to you. Hope you find the best phone for you and your needs.

I lovey pixel! I've dropped it a couple times already and the screen isn't even scratched yet. Not to mention, the camera is phenomenal! Some minor issues with Bluetooth on occasion but nothing a quick restart doesn't fix. System updates and restarts are also very quick and easy. I thoroughly enjoy the fact that all my Google accounts and products are easily accessed through here as well. I was surprised to see that night sight was on this model, but I have zero complaints on it

To be clear, this phone is incredible. Period. I keep hearing about average specs and other mid-range devices have great specs but average cameras and this one does the opposite.. I've owned a lot of recent mid-range phones, most of them sporting a snapdragon 636 at best. The Moto g7 has a 632, the Moto one has a 625, the Moto 6 from last year had a 435!! This phone has a snapdragon 670 and it's by far the best mid-range chip I've used. It's only to be bested later this year by the snapdragon 675 and 710. This phone packs the best 6 series processor out there, 4gb ram, the best camera period, stock Android with the latest software upgrades, AMOLED full hd+ screen... The list goes on. It's incredible. I just sold a galaxy S10 I paid 950 bucks for and I prefer this phone over that all day. The things you miss are wireless charging and... Yeah. That's it. Most other midrangers are missing NFC, fast charging, full hd, AMOLED.. this phone has it all. Don't buy any expensive flagship, get this phone! Don't buy a cheap junker, spend the extra money on this phone, you won't regret it.

I read everything that I could about this phone when I was looking to replace my 1st Gen Pixel XL. What I have found out now that I have used it for a month is that I don't even notice that it is a scaled down version of the premium model. The camera is one of my priority features and it is the best that I have ever had on a phone. My kids are I Phone users and they were wowed by the picture quality. Once I put a case and a glass protector on it any noticeable difference in the build quality is invisible. The sound clarity and processing speed are fine for the personal and work functions that I use all the time. I mainly text, talk, check multiple email accounts and surf favorite websites. For the price I am more than satisfied with the phone. Like most people I want the latest and greatest gadgets but this phone has made me realize that paying $1000 for a phone isn't necessary to have everything I need and more. I am not tied to a contract so I can upgrade if something comes out in a year or so that I absolutely have to have and I will have gotten my money's worth. If I keep it longer I really come out ahead. Google supports for three years so I will continue to get updates through May 2022 . I also get premium Google HD photo storage just for having a Google phone. It has a headphone jack which I love. It isn't waterproof so I do have to be more cautious. This a great deal for the price.

I’ve been using a smartphone since they were first available in the early 90s. They replaced my old Treo which I was very fond of. I watched Obama win his first presidential election on my teeny monochrome screen on my old Kyocera smartphone. Since then I’ve tried a few different Samsung phones. I ruled out Apple’s iPhone because I do not want to be forced into the Apple ecosystem and exorbitant pricing. I was very unhappy with all the bloatware on the Samsungs plus their phones slowed down mightily after using them the first year or two. So recently I gave into trying google’s Pixel 3a XL and I am extremely satisfied with it. It’s the perfect size, has no bloatware, streams audio and video, takes great photos, and has the full array of apps. Best of all was the price. (I attached a birthday card I made on the phone for you to see how versatile it is)

    Cons mentioned:
    Use with case

My previous phone was a Moto Z Play. I loved the long battery life which would often last two or three days on a charge. For two years it was fairly reliable but always a bit flaky. For example, I would set do not disturb to deactivate after two hours and it would remain active. I also liked that it had a headphone jack and SD card reader. However, using the card as internal memory would slow down the phone to the point where it would take about 20 seconds for the camera to start. Once I set the SD card to external, the phone was fairly reliable. The camera was ok but not great. Pictures tended to be out of focus and grainy especially under low light conditions. I also liked the Moto Z for the mods -although they turned out to be more of a gimmick than a feature. I received the free snap-on projector when I bought the phone, but only used it a few times in three years. Unfortunately, my final year of owning the Moto was frustrating. The battery failed after two years and replacements would only last a few months. After two years of mostly reliable use and one year of frustration, I was reluctant to buy another Moto Z despite the fact that near the end of 2019 they are practically giving the Moto Z phones and Mods away. Why the Pixel 3A XL? It had what I liked about my Moto Z play: good battery life - I get over 24 hours on a charge; modest specs at a modest price point; clean, uncluttered, and up-to-date version of Android (I was able to upgrade to Android 10 right away). The Pixel also has a much better camera than the Moto. Best Buy has both the Moto Z3 Play and Pixel 3A phones right next to each other so I took a picture inside the store with both. The Pixel image was noticably crisper compared with the Moto. When I zoomed in on an appliance display the image taken with the Moto was out of focus and over exposed while the image taken with the Pixel was clear. I could read the writing on some boxes that were across the room in the Pixel image while a large appliance display sign was out of focus on the Moto image. I also liked how the optional florescent lighting feature of the Pixel gave the image a cool blue tone. I'm happy I picked the Pixel 3a XL. I also considered the 3 XL and 4 XL - my older eyes need a bigger screen. The Pixel 4 was about to be released but was more than I wanted to spend. It also lacks a headphone jack and decent battery life. Cutting edge specs, high refresh rate and multiple IR sensors appear to drain the battery of the Pixel 4. I could have gotten a Pixel 3 for about the same price as the 3a, but opted for the 3a mainly because of the longer battery life and headphone jack. Pros: battery life, snappy response, clean up-to-date version of Android, 64 GB of internal RAM without headaches of an SD card. Plastic case may not be as nice as metal or glass, but looks fine and is easy to grip. Camera: Amazing photos, night mode works great. Setup: Fairly straight forward. My Moto Z was dead but most of my photos, contacts, apps and settings were backed up in the cloud. Cons: Placement of volume button causes problem when the phone is placed in an auto cup holder. The volume button gets bumped and volume gets set to a minimum. No other gripes. After a little over a week of ownership, I really love my new phone.

I have a note 9 and was looking into replacing my screen from a drop. walked into best buy checked out the phones and was already looking into the 3xl from last year and now the 3axl was out for half the price. same camera better battery life and amazing screen. yes it has a slower processor but seems faster then my note 9 was. no lag or glitches. everything just works! if you looking for a phone this is the one to get. i was hesitating because of the price point that i would be disappointed buying a phone for half the price of my old note 9 but was i wrong! yes u lose wireless charging but i never have to charge this phone like i used to at work or on the go i went to bed with my phone at 63% battery life still left after using it all day. the charger is so fast also. and being a google phone unlimited photos on cloud are so easy to access and share backed up all pics and vids on google photos and have no regrets.

Listen! I've given it 5 points for this machine considering some folks did hard work for designing and selling it but there is something to consider seriously! First, I am not totally satisfied with this crazy phone! Space is not enough, too much confusing compared to my prior experience with the Samsung 7 edge. What to consider? a) do you need greater space if you take tons of pictures and videos every day the way I do here? if so, don't buy it! b) do you upload and use Gmail or Google accounts for pictures, videos, etc? buy it! c) do you need many apps and video editing? this may work but find another better phone! d) do you need high-quality pictures? don't buy it. I was super pleased with Samsung edge earlier with picture quality. e) do you need a phone for Facebooking and checking emails? but this phone! f) do you need a cheap phone for a year or so? go for this Pixel phone! Anyway, the name, Pixel, sounds cool!

Let me explain the title.... Apple has the ability to make a great phone due to the them optimizing their hardware to their software. Well, Google has taken a low powered processor and has optimized it to run as smooth as any flagship android phone ($1000+). This phone is great and comes with all the needed apps to get you started, especially people who aren't so tech savvy. The camera on this phone is arguably the best in any smartphone. Open the camera app and start taking pictures, most if not all pictures will be amazing. The screen is OLED and looks great. It also is very durable. Using a black background and changing most of the apps to be in "Dark mode" gives an all day battery life. The bad: No MicroSD slot, only 64GB of storage, no wireless charging, the screen can be a little dim in the sunlight. Even thought the specs don't show it, this is the best phone to buy for the money!

I bought a Moto G7 before I stopped in at Best Buy, bad idea. I had not been in the store in years and was surprised at how many phones they had on display. I needed an unlocked phone and BB had a decent display of them. I chose the Pixel a XL phone. I love the on screen tutorials in Settings, and the many setup options. The fingerprint setup was super easy as well as transfer from my old phone to new one. The camera has many options to choose from for the photos you want to take, plus you can 'google Pixel camera tricks' for more ideas on how to take even better photos by selecting certain options. Love the 6" screen although I want something over 6", but this will work fine. The system runs fast, have had no glitches, hangups or stalls. The picture quality is great. I would have preferred a removable battery but I don't game or watch many movies. The phone lets you select screen colors from Saturated to Natural. I'd suggest going into Settings and opening up each category to set up the phone and select, or turn off, the settings you don't want on. Happy I chose this phone and took back the Moto G7, the Pixel cost a bit more but I'm hoping it's worth it. It doesn't have a glass back but it's not cheap plastic. It's made from another material I read about in a review. The phone doesn't come with a glass back charger, so what's the point of having a cool looking glass back if it might break on you?

I always wanted a Google Pixel phone but found that the entry level pricing was hard to swing at my budget level. Luckily Google released the 3a and 3a XL which offers the same quality as the other Pixel Phones but for a lower price point. After having the phone for over a month I can't put it down. The operating system is very smooth and the camera takes really clear, vivid pictures. I recommend this phone greatly to anybody looking to get a pure Android experience.
