Customers are impressed with the Pixel 3a XL's camera quality, describing it as outstanding and still good even in 2024. They also appreciate its affordable price, long battery life, and user-friendly interface. However, some customers have expressed concerns about the limited storage capacity, lack of wireless charging, and choppy speaker audio at high volumes.

I've been on the prowl for a new phone for about a year and everything was either overpriced or underwhelming. I wanted an upgrade, not a downgrade and I didn't want to break the bank either. For the price and what it offers, it's awesome. Great color and screen and an amazing camera. Google Assistant baked in and it's great. It helps with my smart home appliances and everything else. The battery life is pretty good too. Definitely worth what I paid for it.

I have never had a Pixel before this phone or used vanilla Android but now may be a permanent convert. The camera is phenomenal on this phone... With one lense! I know at this price point there are some sacrifices but the camera more than makes up for any of those. I am coming from an S9+ and honestly I don't notice a vast performance difference. Yes the display is better on the S9+ and it's "snappier" as they say. However, I also paid half as much for this phone and will be getting updates immediately versus waiting over a year. It is a little dated in the looks department but it excels in functionality. I am very happy with this purchase and will consider the pixel 4 later this year

This review comes following a recent purchase I made of this phone for a family member who wanted this phone after I bought one for myself last summer, 2019, and really liked my own. So since I have owned this phone for a while, I will review it based on my own experience. I find it easy to use. The camera quality is really good, I have enjoyed using that function quite a lot. The battery life is far superior to the previous phone I had, so I like about the phone. It stores a lot on it, so I haven't had trouble running out of space, like my previous phone had. I have had high quality video too. Two points I would like Google to fix: For a brief amount of time I had some concerning flashes of the screen that made me think I was hacked, but upon further research, I found I was not, it just was a weird glitch that went away after a little bit. Maybe an update fixed it, I am not sure. The second, I get a lot of spam calls after getting a new phone number, and while it does filter many out, I would like greater filtering, such as key word filtering on texts, because I have been spammed a bit by text. The spam is not Google's fault, but I would love it if they ramped up their anti-spam features. Overall though, I bought the phone again for a family member, so this shows I find the phone worthy of a repeat purchase.

From the camera that is equal to their flagship, the software, 2 day battery life, gestures for things, speed, color(purple ish), loud speaker (bottom firing and earpiece is speaker). I do not game but the snapdragon 670 is great for anyone who is surfing internet, running through apps, etc. If you are coming from a flagship down to this then it may not be the phone for you (sorry you have already been spoiled), but if you are looking for a midtier with some force this is it. 3yrs of upgrades in os and security n to be the first to get it with these phones. Only issue I had was Best Buy had a promotional e gift card of $100 that a lot of people received (me included)without pins so we couldn't use them. I still haven't received the newer email that will have the e gift card corrected, its only been since May 7th when I purchased phone a week and a couple days.

I’m an iOS guy. Due to my work iPhone breaking and the covid-19 situation not allowing me to get it replaced immediately, I wanted an inexpensive phone to fill the void. Also because I use an iPhone XS Max as my personal phone, it’d be easier to keep everything separated by going to Android, I settled on the Pixel 3A XL. I’ve been blown away. The phone is terrific and I find myself using it even when I am off work because of the customization of Android. The screen is very good, and the camera is amazing. The plastic seems very premium and I’m not sure I would have known it was. It’s in a case so it doesn’t matter. Frankly it makes me embarrassed that I spent 3 times the cost of this phone for my personal iPhone. Get a case for it very soon. While waiting on Amazon to deliver the case, I cracked the screen. It was easily repaired, so all is good. Overall, it’s simple to use, has tons of features at a great price. I highly recommend it.

Why pay $800 for a Samsung, when you can pay $400 for a genuine Google and Android experience. Constant updates, no cluttered UI and UNLOCKED! Since it is unlocked NO CARRIER APPS! The camera is the same as the Pixel 3 it has night sight. The plastic back while not as premium as other device, it also won't CRACK! I get all day battery.

Bought it the day it was released. Previous phone was a Nexus 6P. This phone is unbeatable for the price! Very zippy, fast, excellent screen, top-notch camera, and phenomenal battery life. I'm getting 2 days per charge with moderate use. Plus you get 3 years of timely updates!

I've had this 3 months, I replaced my OnePlus 7T with the Pixel 3a XL based on lots of good reviews. The OnePlus, while a fine phone, aggravated my tendinitis to hold and operate. Sounds strange, I know, I think it was a combo of weight and button placement. The Pixel felt amazingly comfortable in my hand. With an Otter Box case, I was good to go. I never used a finger print scanner on back before, but it felt right and very easy to get used to. The phone wakes up instantly and navigating is quick, though sometimes it suffers screen freeze in Wifi and 4-5 bar signal. I put it to sleep and wake it back up to overcome this. Call quality is excellent and pairing Blue tooth to my car was easy. Google maps functions well in the car. Batter life for many texts, some calls, and lots of YouTube from 6 AM to 8 PM gets me down to 15% battery. 2-3 days a week I can go a full day and up late AM the following day before it needs charging. I deducted one star due to the screen freeze issue. Pictures? Wow! great detail. I think this would please most people.

I didn't like the price of the look of the regular Pixel 3XL, and also wanted to have something with a headphone jack. This is an affordable, good looking phone with a headphone jack. It checked all the boxes! I love getting timely Android updated direct from Google, and having the great Pixel camera without having to pay $900. Buy it!

This phone is amazing because of its performance, camera and battery life. Even after a year it performs great, runs smooth. Takes great pictures, battery still lasts all day. Best of all still getting android updates. I'd highly recommend this phone. I am eagerly waiting for the next revision of this phone.

Phone is amazing, granted I'm coming from a Note 4 so almost anything would be better at this point. I really really like the OS and the camera on this phone. Battery life is top notch. The price is super reasonable too and basically will do everything you need it too. Don't game on mobile so I can't comment on that.

Even though this phone is a few years old and is not the latest and greatest, it still holds up. The Google Pixel 3a XL has mid-range specs for those who simply need to check email, browse the internet, and watch streaming movies. I am not a huge mobile gamer so I don't know how well the graphics hold up. My battery life is outstanding and I've gotten a full day of battery life of moderate use. The rapid charging feature is a lifesaver also if you are finding yourself out of juice and in a tight spot. The camera takes the best pictures right out of the box (especially portrait mode) and can't really complain about that aspect of the phone. As for Android, I prefer the stock experience. Since this is a Google manufactured phone, you're getting the pure Android experience. None of that garbage bloatware. Additionally, updates are pushed to the phone and it has the latest version (10). It's smooth with no hiccups or stutters. If you want a high-quality device in 2020, this is a solid choice of a phone.

Only had the phone for a week, but haven't had any problems. Phone does everything it should. So far I get 2 days on a charge, but I'm not a heavy user, don't play games or anything like that. Just the usual social media and YouTube watching. And the camera is great. If your looking for a near flagship phone for half the price then this is your phone. Being a Google phone you also get the updates as soon as Google puts them out, not having to wait on the carriers to approve/put their spin on the update. This is a plus for me as I've always been a pure Google phone person. Only drawback is the screen isn't the brightest until you get over 80%.

Want the best camera? Want a great looking screen? Want amazing battery life? Want great simple software? Yes exactly, that's why this phone is great for 99% of people. Now if all you care about is specs, just walk away, it's not a flagship, but you won't notice unless you're reading a specs sheet. If your just a regular phone user, takes some photos, watches some videos, strolls through social media pages, and does some emails and web browsing, this is the phone for you, save your money. Some more pros, Google photos back up is unlimited, 3 times the amount of cloud storage for free as apple, and they keep pictures completely separate. If you use any type of voice assistant, you'll love having a Google phone for the best assistant experience. Lots of Pixel only features, screen calling in the US is an amazing benefit.

Listen! I've given it 5 points for this machine considering some folks did hard work for designing and selling it but there is something to consider seriously! First, I am not totally satisfied with this crazy phone! Space is not enough, too much confusing compared to my prior experience with the Samsung 7 edge. What to consider? a) do you need greater space if you take tons of pictures and videos every day the way I do here? if so, don't buy it! b) do you upload and use Gmail or Google accounts for pictures, videos, etc? buy it! c) do you need many apps and video editing? this may work but find another better phone! d) do you need high-quality pictures? don't buy it. I was super pleased with Samsung edge earlier with picture quality. e) do you need a phone for Facebooking and checking emails? but this phone! f) do you need a cheap phone for a year or so? go for this Pixel phone! Anyway, the name, Pixel, sounds cool!

So me and my wife finally decided to buy the Pixel we've been drooling over the past couple of months. Unboxed them, and then ran into some issues. My phone had a completely flat battery of the box. I thought it was a little strange, so I let charge for a bit. My wife's had about a 76% charge. So we finally started setting them up and all was well. Then out of nowhere, her phone shuts off and is unresponsive. Finally got it back going and the battery had lost 60% of it's charge ( keep in mind weve only been using them about 30 minutes). She wasn't very impressed with what happened so she decided to return hers. I wanted to give mine a chance. I'm on day 4 of using the Pixel, and I'm super impressed by the camera, I don't think I've ever seen a better picture from a smartphone. It has a decently sized battery, beautiful display, and the speakers sound incredible as well. The only complaint I have is the absence of expandable storage. I don't think I will need it but it's nice to have the the option. Over all I'm impressed with the Pixel, and I can't wait to see how it performs from here on out.

I moved from a Note 5 (yeah, ancient in cell phone terms) to this pixel 3a XL and the size is nearly the same, but the features and speed of this phone clearly outclasses my older Note 5. Better camera (front and back), faster processors, and unbelievably good battery life. I was charging my Note 5 at least once per day, but this phone can last 5-6 days between charges with moderate use. Plus Google is cool enough to guarantee support and updates for 3 years. Very cool. 10/10 would buy again. Really great value for a current phone. The only real downside is that I couldn't find a case that I was in love with (accustomed to otterbox) that was white like my phone. I ended up getting a speck case that is kind of a slight off-white color, and that's been working great so far.

So, I've had this phone for about 2 weeks now and here are my observations. Like it's regular more expensive brothers, the phone takes amazing photos! Probably some of the best pics I have taken on a phone. My previous phone was the Samsung S10e and there are subtle difference. The battery life has been very solid. I've been getting the phone to last a good 2 days. Very little drains over night. If I have one complaint is that I wish the phone had a slightly more powerful processor. The Snapdragon 670 is good but under heavy use and multitasking, it can stutter. It would have been better if they would have included the 675 or 710 instead. It is what it is...

The Pixel 3a XL is either Google's attempt to meet the average smartphone user's need or they stumbled on the right combination of features/price because the flagship phones are not selling like they used to. Either way, this is a win/win for this phone. I have owned iPhones, Galaxys, etc. A few years ago there was a huge gap between flagship phones and mid tier phones as far as features. That's not true anymore. I wanted a good camera and a phone that runs smooth with a decent screen. This phone checks all the boxes for me. It just works. If you are coming from the Pixel 3 or other top tier you will notice a little performance lag on opening apps or scrolling fast. $400-500 difference? No. Battery life is better than I expected. 3 years of operating system upgrades, Pixels first in line for those. Very happy with this phone.
