    Best Pixel Ever

I knew I made the right choice when at the Best Buy store and I said I was interested in buying the Pixel 4 XL both sales people behind the counter said, "Excellent choice, it's the one we both bought." I figured since they handle and sell dozens of different phones from different manufacturers and selected THIS one for themselves, it was a great starting point. You can read from reviews here about the dozens of cool features this phone has, and they're all true. If the 'notch' at the top of the Pixel 3 XL screen bothered you, that's gone in the 4. I like small things, like the Pixel, being from Google, is getting Android updates and improvements constantly. It's like each day your phone is getting smarter and learning new things, and that's free. The camera is totally amazing. I'm into photography and have always loved my Nikon with its assortment of lenses, but the Pixel camera is SO much easier to use and seems to anticipate what I'm looking to do without constantly changing lenses and fiddling with controls to give me great pictures. The negative, as in any smartphone camera, is when taking a picture in bright sun, your screen is totally washed out and you're guessing about how your picture will look. Buying an unlocked phone means you're free from your carrier's bloatware cluttering up the phone. Usually their apps are put there to sell you stuff. Unless you especially like one of those apps, I have never found a downside in purchasing an unlocked phone. The battery life is excellent for the amount of time I use my phone. I have yet to go through a 16 hour day and not had at least 35 per cent battery left. Bottom line, if you're thinking of purchasing this phone, it's well worth a look.

A great software experience hampered by hardware

When I talk about the Google Pixel I'm torn on how I feel. I really want to love the phone, but some things hold it back from making it an easy recommendation. I'll break down my pros and cons below: Pros: Stock Android experience. Stock android is so smooth and bloat free. You won't find duplicate or bloatware apps like Facebook like you do on other devices from manufacturers like Samsung or LG. Security and OS updates. I love stock android and getting day 1 os and security updates directly from Google. Other manufacturers like LG can make you wait up to a year for an OS update if they even update at all. You get to try out the new android features before anyone else. Camera. The photos you can get on this make even a novice photographer like myself seem like they have awesome photography skills lol Flat display. In my opinion I think curved displays make the experience worse so I'm glad Google has refused to put one in their phones. Now on to the cons: Display brightness. You will find yourself using max brightness all the time, because the display is very dim. It's basically unusable outside so if you work alot outside or spend alot of time outside don't buy this phone. Hardware design. The design of the hardware feels a couple of years behind other companies like Samsung especially with the bezels. The build quality feels cheap and not up to the $900 price tag Google asks. 6GB of memory. I'm not sure what is up with Google and refusing to put a decent amount of memory in their phones, but when every other manufacturer is doing 8 or 12GB of memory Google settles for 6GB. You will experience performance hiccups and app reloading due to the limited amount of ram. No fingerprint sensor. This is a major pain point for me as I unlock my phone alot and using several banking apps. Most banking apps are not compatible with face unlock so you will have to manually type in your password every single time you use the app. Overall I can't recommend this phone at it's original and current asking price of $900. If you can find it on sale for $500 or less alot of the issues I have with it are alot more forgivable.

The gimmicks are actually kind of nice

I'm sure we're all aware this is basically Google's flagship phone with the specs to compete with Samsung and Apple's finest and it's a perfectly serviceable phone, so no reason to waste much time there. As for the new gimmicks, like radar, it's actually kind of nice to have the alarm quite down as you fumble to shut it off in the morning and to have the phone wake up and start looking for your face before you even have the phone in your hand (which makes face unlock nice and quick). It is a little weird to scan when using Google pay and then stare at your phone for a second, but it's not horribly awkward, and you can avoid entirely if needed. If you're unused to the new navigation controls in Android (no home button, etc) it can take a second to get used to, and if you can't adjust, you can always turn them back on. All in all, a great phone for now (and the battery is perfectly serviceable, which may not be the case with the smaller version).

    Not sorry I bought it

I read a lot of reviews and most did not make it sound like this phone was a good buy (& especially complained about abysmal battery life), but the price on this phone has come down so I decided "what the heck". Overall, the phone suits my purposes & I have no real complaints. The battery life can last me most of a day, depending on usage. Some days I don't need to charge it until bedtime, others need a few minutes of charge here and there; but I have chargers everywhere (work, truck, living room, night stand, etc), so a few minutes on a wireless charging pad here and there doesn't bother me- and it's nothing I haven't been doing anyway with previous phones. I half expected more from the camera, based upon all of the reviews about how awesome the camera is... That's not a complaint about the phone tho, it does take some good pictures - it just was crazy hyped I guess. One thing they did fix is the facial recognition to allow you to turn on/off unlocking with your eyes closed. So, all the hysterics in reviews about unlocking with your eyes closed are mute

    Good cellphone, great software experience

In the past I have used another cellphones of Google and the plus of this google brand cellphone is the OS experience (Android 10), in this part the cellphone shines, with the new interface, menus, how you can go back or fordward with a swipe of the hand in some apps (music, receive or hang calls), etc. In hardware area, the screen (90hz) it looks amazing, excellent sound from the speakers (loud, clear, stereo sound) and again the camera is excellent (in the top 5 of the highend phones) It has some flaws (the most know one) unlock the the cellphone with the eyes closed, but I think this one, like other software issues, will be fixed through patches (another good thing, patches and updates, they will always be the most recent ones). I recomend this cellphone to persons who wants a better quality software service (pure stock android).

Best Android Phone Available Right Now

I switched to other Android phones for a few months, and every other Android phone that I've used lacks essential features. The face-unlock is remarkably convenient. The UI is buttery smooth, even more than a year after launch. The extra features such as the smart home functionality with a longpress of the power button are excellent. Also, no smartphone camera quality or feature set comes anywhere close. It's very hard to go to another smartphone camera after using the Pixel camera.

    Great battery

My previous phone was a Samsung Galaxy S8. That battery in that phone I would have to charge twice a day, sometimes three times. Switching to the Google Pixel 4XL, my same type of usage I can get two days out of it! That's the main bonus from me. I always complained about my S8, just seemed to always have issues. I love that my Pixel is unlocked, it doesn't have all that unnecessary bloatware. So far this Pixel has met my expectations. It's very responsive, fluid, just overall a great phone in my opinion. It's easy to personalize to my liking. The preloaded sounds for ringtones and notifications are fun. The face unlock works very well. I love the Google assistant. Pixel doesn't beat when I had the HTC One M8 for Windows phone though, that was the best. But the Pixel is next runner up!

Everything about this phone hits the mark!

I have doubted myself since I've purchased two of the new pixels and out my out 2,000 dollars. Every review put out was just destroying this phone! I agree if you have a pixel 3 I recommend you stay there until the phone goes on a huge sale in a couple of weeks. But I upgraded from the glorious pixel 2 XL which I dropped one too many times and I was due for an upgrade. I'm not a typical consumer as I'm a Google sheep but I am an average user. This battery life thing that everyone complains about is strange as everyday this phone dose great. Yes it sucks that by the time I end my day it's usually around 10-15 percent but it's gets through the day which is what people need. The camera is great, just about as perfect one could get but I do have to agree Google missed the mark with no wide angle. I'm giving this a five star review because (I'm Google's sheep) the phone is a mid range flagship at best and I know the price cuts will be huge on this phone making it worth the 5 or even 6 hundred bucks. Once there everyone will love the phone and tell Google to launch the next phone at this price but they won't listen, they have people like me that'll drop 2 G's on their phones. Though I will most likely not get the P5 because Google doesn't know how to actually UPGRADE which is why I skipped the pixel 3 because my 2 was still excellent so I'll hang on this P4 until I drop and break it again or once Google just drops the perfect phone which they could do every year but the willingly choose not to smh....

The Pixel 4 XL is Great!

This phone is great. I know a lot of people like to talk about the Pixel 4 and how it could have been better but I like to think what they did with this phone was an interesting experiment that works. Trust me when I say that you have to really own it to know what I'm talking about. The camera is superb. The screen is phenomenal. The face unlock is lightning fast and the updates come about every month sometimes with new features added. The list goes on and on. The Pixel 4 does well with it user interaction especially with the Google Assistant. There are bugs that occur here and there but what phone doesn't. The only problems that I have with the phone mostly stem from the low battery life and the ridiculously small battery size. In 2019 there was no excuse for having a phone with a 3800 mAH battery on a phone that is 6.4". Other than the Pixel 4 XL is a great device that deserves to be given a chance.

Best pixel device yet with the best Android experi

Certainly those who are avid fans of using pure Android OS will definitely appreciate this phone to it's entirety. I carry both iPhone and pixel devices and the only thing that I had concerns with pixel devices were the haptic engine. I haven't read much of anyone even professional tech sites mention this, but the haptic engine used on the pixel 4 is GREAT. It's pretty much on par with the iPhone on feel and satisfaction. This alone makes the entire experience that much more enjoyable. The design is superb where many agree is the best designed pixel yet! Battery life I would say take with a grain of salt from those who gripe about it after only a couple days of usage. Adaptive battery does wonders as you use your phone. Whether you get the phone now or wait till Black Friday, cost will not come to your mind when using the phone!

I like Google products, I owned several (Nexus 5, Nexus 6P my favorite, Pixel 2XL, Pixel 3XL ugliest notch ever, and Pixel 4XL). I think this year I will switch to Samsung even thought I hate the luck of updates and the Bixby button. I stopped using Samsung product for this reason (Android versions). But Pixel 4XL isn't that good. Battery life ok, pictures..uhm, maybe pixel 3XL was taking better pics. I really could care less about gesture. No wide angle camera, no fingerprint sensor on screen or the best ever (on the back). You got only 15 apps currently working with Android Face ID and none of the banks I have supports it. I gave it a try and for me it isn't a phone that is worth over 500 dollars for the 128GB.

I love my Pixel 4 XL! Fast speed phone all the way around and has great apps. The speaker volume and quality is excellant. The cameras are awesome. Excellant quality; regular and zoomed photos, The photo turn-outs are amazing. I like the phone dimensions. I have small hands and it fits comfortably in one hand. The New Google Assistant and wave feature are both a huge bonus, Both work awesome and are fast. After experiencing these features on my Pixel 4 XL, I do not want to be without them. I was very fortunate to land an "OpenBox" phone. I paid less for phone due to this and have had zero issues with my phone. Thank You Best Buy! I have Google Fi for a service provider and so far I am extremely pleased with my reception, plan, updates and support.

    Awesome Phone!

I heard a lot of really negative reviews for this so was a little worried. That worry was unfounded. My last phone was a Samsung S9 (also, the S7 and S8) so my comparison is to that phone. Battery life, this phone always gets me past a full day (past midnight). The Samsung usually died on my way home from work. Screen, for me, the screen is good but not great in full sun. App... this is where it is awesome. Everything just works. Text to Speech is great with Google Books. Camera takes awesome pictures, Movies/Netflix play really well. Chomecast cast connects really well. Games play well as well. Face unlock is good. I didn't think I would use it but I use it all of the time now. Phone swipe is cool. I am starting to use that more often while playing songs while driving. I can't tell you how nice it is to just wave your hand in front of your phone to move past a song you are not interested it or even to the next podcast. Really hoping that Google finds more uses for this tech. Overall, really good phone. Never going back to Samsung again.

Coming from a line of Samsung then Pixel 2, the Pixel 4 is a terrific phone. It keeps much of the same features of previous Pixels that have made them a force in the mobile market, and improved the line in many areas. The great thing about Pixels is that the only real differences between the sizes is the screen size (duh) and the battery. With the 4XL I can use my phone for a variety of things all day (including extended periods of gaming) and still have battery left over at the end of the day. And the camera is fantastic and can even improve over time as Google puts a lot of their camera tech into software, so updates to improve the phone's photo capabilities are in store.

    One tough phone.

I realized it was in my pocket AFTER being in the swimming pool for a half hour. Only because I saw it laying on the bottom. Fished it out and it was fine. a month later I Left it in the sun to long and it shut itself off. Still works great. Fell hard in a bike crash, smashed the laser grips off my 1911 in my pocket. Broke the screen protector. The phone was fine

Best Android experience I've had in a phone. I went from Samsung to Pixel and I haven't had a regret yet. Camera is amazing specially Night Sight. Feature Drops are a great bonus. I haven't had any bad experience with the battery life (I have always had to charge any phone I ever had at least once a day). The fast charging is awesome. Overall the best phone I've had.

I've been a google nexus fan since and this pixel 4 xl is an excellent addition. The design looks funny but the Google integration is excellent.

I bought this phone as a replacement for my OG Pixel XL and it's a pretty phenomenal improvement. It's super smooth and has a pretty stunning battery life when paired with the adaptive battery feature. Of course, the camera is also fantastic. The color and detail of the pictures honestly surprises me at times with how good it is. I haven't run into any issues with its functionality at all. I've seen a lot of other reviews saying it's not that great since it doesn't have every possible bleeding edge feature, but for me, it's just about perfect. I do wish I could do more with the new motion sense feature, but it's a pretty cool additional bit of new tech that was thrown in. I actually use it every day to snooze my alarms and change music tracks. I really hope it gets better. If you are interested in this phone, I highly recommend it, it'll totally be worth it.

Most cohesive Android experience you can get

The Pixel 4 XL won't win any competitions based on specs sheets. It doesn't have a wide-angle camera or 2 day battery life, or a fancy bexel-less design, and the storage options are stingy. But it does have a phenomenal 2x optical zoom that still looks amazing at 8x zoom (great for Kindergarten plays), and the camera is simply jaw-dropping to people when I show them photos taken in daylight and low-light. It has all-day battery life, and a beautiful 90hz display which is rare on smartphones. I enabled Smart Storage in settings and haven't had an issue with running out of space. In fact, Google has infused this phone with machine-learning and features that make it a joy to use everyday (check YouTube for tips and tricks!). The Face Unlock works effortlessly with the radar, and the Motion Sense features are just extras. The entire experience just feels much more cohesive than Samsung phones and other vendors, and even feels to the level of i-Phone cohesiveness. Get this phone if you want direct-from-Google quick updates for at least 3 years and the best Android experience you can get.
