My Pixel 6 was freezing up, so I needed to get a new phone. Did not want to spend $900+ on something for couple of year, so got this Pixel 8 which was on sale and the face unlock was a welcome feature which I didn't have on my Pixel 6.

My only complaint is that the screen has a warm tone, and it can't be changed through settings. Also the screen lacks sensitivity on the lower corners, sometimes I can't type the letter A, and the Mayus. Overall not a complete good experience.

She loves the compact size and the face unlock (6a had it too, but not as well integrated as an option for opening other apps). Great phone at a great price!

The screen feels better than an iPhone. The free buds sweetened the deal even more

Sluggish phone

But this was not a good idea. The phone is in general sluggish, camera lag being the most prominent. Thought the pictures are really great. Multitasking with android auto using google maps, youtube music, taking a teams call is a nightmare. It would just restart the phone. Battery backup is another problem. I had to charge twice in a day, starting with full charge. Android 14 has many bugs too, gmail would become non responsive often. Many apps would need to be reset often. I had no other option to give up on the phone. Have had pixel 6, 7 pro and 8 on launch days. And this is the last time. Lesson learnt, You cannot fix things with only software and AI, you also need good hardware to get the basic multitasking first. Got a oneplus 11 at almost same cost, buttery smooth, battery is at 81% as I type where Pixel would be at 30%.

Pictures have been quite a bit clearer than my old phone

It would get hot just using goole maps. The weather app wants to open with Calendar sometimes. All in all, a neat little phone though. Like the updates, ect.
