Went looking for a new phone when i learned my Pixel 4A was not going to receive any more updates. Decided to go with the Pixel 8 because it will get 7 years of updates. Was happy to discover an end of year sale and a generous trade in offer for my 4A at Best Buy.

Great till another carrier somehow tried to activate the E- sin and now the phone is worthless, since they reported it stolen.

Waited to write this review till I had a reasonable time period of use behind me. I upgraded this phone from a Pixel 4 and so far I like it. The features of the phone are top notch. The camera is great, Android 14 with no bloatware is nice, and not having to fight with other voice assistants (i.e. Bixby) is simply amazing. There's no lag when using the phone. Looking forward to near instant Android updates. The E-sim was easy enough to set up through Verizon's website without needing a representative. So that was nice as well. The haptic feedback in this phone is much better than my Pixel 4. Transferring phone info (photos, videos, apps, data in general) was a breeze. The USB-C to USB-C cable made it super simple and it took about 20 minutes. You can choose what to transfer. Exterior & comfort: The color Obsidian is special and I like it. The visor camera bump looks unique and kinda cool in my opinion. The rounded edge makes the phone comfortable to hold. However, there are some cons. 1) The bump and the glass back make it awkward to place on any flat surface. 2) The bump is a huge dust collector. 3) Although the edge of the flat screen has a bit of curve, the transition to the metal frame is not good, which means the touch of the edge areas feels a bit cheap, definitely not comparable to iPhone 15 Pro. Overall, I think the look is unique but comes with some sacrifices, and the build quality is fairly good for the price. Operating System: The OS on Pixel 8 feels more like Apple's iOS actually. It doesn't have as many customization functions as OneUI and is simpler to use. Kinda like iOS, but in a different style, well, the kinda nerdy Google style. If you like it you like it. Some special Google AI features are cool, but should not be the only reason for anyone to buy this phone in my opinion. I haven't experienced many bugs. Actually, only one when switching between bluetooth audio devices that really bothers me a bit. Overall, I like the system, and I think it is good for anyone but people who have only used iPhone before. Camera: Pixel has always been famous for its camera capabilities. I must say it is true on Pixel 8. It takes very decent photos no matter the light conditions, and the shoot experience is simple and natural. Is it as good or better as flagship phones like iPhone 15 Pro? I don't know, maybe not. But as someone who uses a dedicated camera for street photography, I think the camera on Pixel 8 is more than capable to take nice looking daily photos and capture those little moments into good memories. When it comes to video, it is also good, especially considering the price. So overall, the camera is very good. Battery life: Not much to say here since I don't bother to do any "tests" and have no numbers. But based on my feeling, it is good. Overall, I rate it as a great value compared to the latest flagship phones. If you're thinking about the latest flagship but balking at the cost, the Pixel 8 is a great alternative. Google has become a great competitor for top line phones that cost twice as much.

Traded iPhone 12 for Pixel 8. Best decision it has been. The plain android feels sooo good with without any bloatware! And the best buy in-store experience was good. We faced some issue in the trade-in but the staff sorted out quickly and went through the purchase smooth.

I pre-order the Pixel 8 and was excited for the new features after watching several reviews. After opening the box I was so disappointed! The phone is a lot smaller than my Pixel 7. The buttons on the bottom have beeen removed and you have to learn how to swip instead. The phone felt heavy and bulky in my hand. Unfortunately it cost me $35 to return the phone but I would rather use my Pixel 7. Also, Best Buy would not honor the Pre-order promotion if I traded for a Pro 8. Sad because I was so excited and confident I would be happy with the new phone.

I didn't plan on getting this phone but when my last one had a shattered screen best buy helped me to upgrade to a new phone for under $100.00, I love Google pixel phones.

Pixel 4a died. Insurance replacement was a moto stylus 5g, everything was adequate, loved the size. But the pixel 8 pro was 200 dollars more so got the pixel 8. Great price for a great phone, Got use to standard size and I'm loving everything about it!

Not a big upgrade from Pixel 7. This phone may be a good value option once the price goes down. The heating problem plaguing the other Pixels is also hampering this Pixel 8 device.

It was a wonderful phone until it started to have internal system errors, the camera started crashing, and apps started closing and photos were not being saved after being taken when there was storage. As well as battery draining quickly.

This phone is overall a really good phone but there's 1 thing about it I don't like. 1st, it's kind of slow/laggy when tapping the screen. You have to tap the screen a few times for it to work. Everything else is great about this phone

I bought 2 pixel 8 phones. One was open box and the other was "brand new". Both feel alright, not cheap, but definitely not top of the line quality. I moved on from a pixel 5 and can definitely say the 5 felt more solid. Anyway, a week and a half in, the brand new phone started having touch screen issues during phone calls and then all the time. The open box phone seemed to be working better until about 2 weeks in and it felt slow as well. Traded both for pixel 9s. Pixel 9s feel fantastic, disappointed in quality of the 8s
