Great phone EXCEPT none of the password protected apps (banking, medical) work anymore, and nothing we've tried works to fix it. Would be better if Google had a help line. I am assuming that we will be able to get it fixed at some point and then it will be a 5 star phone.

Without question, this is the Android phone to get for people who prioritize photos and videos. Pixel phones have always taken excellent shots, but the new software features like Best Take and Magic Editor give you easy to use tools to produce pro grade photos with just your phone and a few taps. Audio Magic Eraser is fun, too, and a great option for users who make a lot of videos. There are some other pretty nice features included, like Read Aloud and Summarize, but these aren't as strong selling points as is the top tier photo lens and editing tools. Other than that, there are some significant quality of life improvements for anyone who has an older Pixel. For one, this device finally hits the sweet spot for size. This is a flagship grade phone experience in a more reasonable form factor. Battery life also is a little better but Pixels have been great with battery life from the 6 onwards. The most important quality of life upgrade, however, is seen in better cellular connectivity. I live in an urban area, so have a one signal coverage, but I still had issues with previous Pixels not playing nice with certain carriers (I'll just say the most expensive carrier specifically). This doesn't seem to be problem at all with the Pixel 8. I can maintain a strong cell signal anywhere, with only minor dips in frequency strength. If you're thinking about upgrading and are concerned about cell reliability, don't be; the Pixel 8 will connect you reliably. And I had zero problems with the phone overheating. The phone barely gets warm with regular use. Regular users will not have an issue with overheating, so ignore any nonsense about this being an issue. The only way in which this phone might be a disappointment to some is with the way the Tensor chip works. Make no mistake, the G3 Tensor can handle social media, web browsing, multiple apps, and just a out anything with no problems, stutters, or heat build up. I did, however, see some reduced performance with some cell phone games. We're talking the same ones available on consoles, not ones specifically built for cell phones. The Tensor is powering all the AI features and is geared towards the making the user experience excellent, so if you absolutely need a phone that can also play console-grade games, you might want to look at a different device. Of course, if your primary concern is gaming, you should probably just get a handheld gaming PC anyway. Emulators and emulation, I should say, run fine on the Pixel 8, or at least as well as they do on other flagships. In short, if you're an Android user, you need a comfortable device that handles 99% of tasks exceptionally well, and great photos and videos are the most important thing to you, this is the phone you should get. It may seem like there wasn't a major leap with this Pixel generation, but the better size, improved screen, and better battery life make the purchase worth it. The last generation of Pixel phones was about improving the phone gradually, and the Pixel 8 continues that trend. The differences are more subtle, but for veteran Pixel users they are noticeable and well-appreciated. My wife literally just held after I used it for a few days and insisted she get to take it over. And her photos already look professional with the previous gen model (and put a certain major rival that the kids are all excited about to shame). Now she's tinkering with the new photo editing tools and having a blast. Big on cell phone photography? Get the Pixel 8. Android purist? Get the Pixel 8. Want an excellent phone with flagship performance that you can put in your jeans pocket easily and still kneel? Get the Pixel 8. The Pixel series just keeps getting better.
