Great Except for one thing...
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone has been a big improvement from the Pixel 7 in nearly every aspect. Here is a list of the improvements over the 7: - Camera: both cameras are improved in the level of detail. The video looks better anhas less artifacting. And the addition of a macro lense mode is a really welcome (and functional) addition. - Face unlock! The fingerprint reader is the same as the 7, so it's mediocre. Being able to unlock using my face for all possible biometric access methods. Seriously, if nothing else changed from the 7 to the 8, this would be worth it. - Smaller (slightly) phone -- they shrunk the size of the phone and rounded the edges more. Just makes the phone feel more comfortable in-hand. - Screen -- 120 hz screen refresh and the improved clarity, color, and brightness of the screen make this the 2nd most update welcome change over the 7 I did mention one thing which knocked the phone down from a 5 to a 4 and it's the cellular (5G especially) reception. With the 7, I had really reliable and strong 5G signal in most of area I live. I didn't have handoff issues, and I consistently got 5GUC (TMobile). With the 8, it seems like the modem in the phone took a step back to the issues that the Pixel 6 were purported to have. I don't know if the issue is just the phone since it has the same modem as the 7, so perhaps it's in conjunction with Android 14 and the new hardware. I'm thinking this may be resolved with software in the future, but I was disappointed to see the network connection struggling in areas where it was strong with my 7. If you are away from wifi, you can expect a reduced battery life as well because the phone is struggling with getting a consistent signal. Overall I'm still mostly satisfied, and this could become my favorite Pixel of all time if they can fix the reception issues.

Better off with cheap Motorola or Galaxy A series!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone is the perfect size and has a great camera BUT it runs hot. It disconnects from Android Auto every minute or two. The battery life sucks and it gets hot when you charge it. My $300 Motorola G Power 5G 2024 never gets too hot and never disconnects from Android Auto when I am working. This is the third Pixel phone that has given me similar issues (Pixel 8a and Pixel 9 also did that). I will stick with phones with Mediatek and Exynos chips as even my Motorola Stylus 5G 2024 with Snapdragon 6 gen 1 was often disconnecting from Android Auto. Even though the Stylus 2023 4G with Mediatek Helio chip did not. Tensor and mid range Snapdragon keep having this problem. I work for Amazon and I depend on Android Auto 6 hours a day so I know what I am talking about.

Great experience!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Juan, Ray and the whole front desk team were excellent. I came in last Friday night to buy a new phone because my old one was having trouble charging. I needed the new phone for work early the next day. I came into the store around 9pm and was unsure if I would get what I was looking for. I enjoyed using my pixel 6 so I decided to upgrade on the same brand to a pixel 8. I saw online there was a promotion going on where the price was $499. I asked if that phone was in stock and the front desk team helped me find just what I was looking for. I explained my issue with the old phone and they offered a trade-in. I went forward with it as they said they could apply the credit to my new phone. Unfortunately I didn't have my driver's license on me that night so I was told I could come back in tomorrow or Sunday to apply the credit to the new phone, while still purchasing the pixel 8 then and there. I went to work the next day and the new phone worked great, had high speeds, and everything got transferred from my old pixel. I went back in Sunday morning to see if I could repurchase the new phone with the applied credit from the trade-in for the old pixel. I was told that Sunday morning the price for the phone went back up to $699, and I couldn't go forward with the return to add the credit. Juan, the store manager, let me know the reasoning behind it, and also explained that a possible option would be if I was a Best buy membership holder I could return the phone, wait until the price went back down, and repurchase it with the added $80 discount then. I appreciated his advice, but decided that $200 off was already a substantial discount and was overall happy with the purchase. I did go forward and trade-in the phone and still received the $80 credit, which I used to purchase a phone case the front desk team helped me find. Outstanding customer service, great team, upper management is definitely running this store with excellence!

An Eye Opener for Pixel
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Pixel 8 the day it came out. It was an upgrade from my Pixel 5. I must say it is an upgrade. The photos are absolutely wonderful! There is a difference when scrolling so it is smoother. Seamless. The fingerprint scanner I don't have an opinion on it. It's just what it is. It works well. I have only had the phone for a couple of weeks. The only opposition at this time is the messages. But I am not sure if it's the phone or my carrier. I am not able to receive them and hard to send. I keep running into an error. But time will tell what's happening. Other than that really great phone. Every phone has it's stumbles at first so you can't get upset.

One of the best and getting better day by day
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Pixels were usually considered best phones for a clean Andriod experience. Pixel 8 takes it further and is probably one of the best smartphones with great camera, clean OS, regular software updates, lots of helpful/smart features and overall very well rounded software-hardware tech. I have been a pixel user for a couple of years now, have had issues here and there since the Pixels started to use their own Tensor chips but every feature seems to be getting better and better inching towards optimum performance. Highly recommend.

replaced old pixel 5 with 8 and works great
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.my 3 yr old pixel 5 started to split apart and its had other issues like volume problems and fingerprint sensor being inconsistent. plus battery life has dropped. Pixel 8 was in stock and easy to migrate to before I lost the display on the old phone. The pixel8 is slightly larger and heavier, but not huge. i value a smaller phone so that's why Went with the 8. camera and photo editing is great. I've used samsung but am happier with the google interface.

Flagship successor to the Pixel 5
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Love this phone. I previously had a Pixel 5 and loved the size and shape. When I upgraded to the 7 it was good but too big and heavy and the fingerprint sensor sucked. Now on the 8 the fingerprint sensor and face unlock are superior to the 7 for me. The 120hz and super bright display is awesome. The size and weight is very comparable to the Pixel 5 but now with the tensor G3 instead of the budget processor of the 5. Overall very happy with the purchase and pre-order/trade in experience with Best buy.

Well done google!!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Well done google !! very good quality phone , the stock android makes it very clean and fast and moreover the software upgrades are available for next 5 years which is really amazing and sends a clear message that google is backing this up. One thing needs to improve is the faceID detection , it does not work well in low light so you will have to switch to fingerprint, but if you have moist/oily fingers then you will have hard time . The camera quality and voice quality are very good , the screen refresh rate is 120hz (you must enable it) . Overall very impressive phone.

Even pixels Rock
||Posted . Owned for 6 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The 8 is just the right size it feels great one handed. Battery life could be a bit better however it changes so fast if you have a long day it's easy to get a quick 5 min charge in. Screen brightness is very good one of the brightest phones I've seen. The OS is perfect with the Google ecosystem I replaced a pixel 7 that I hated before read a pixel 4 and loved it so maybe go with even pixels.

Best phones for me!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been on an annual Pixel upgrade since they introduced wireless charging into the Nexus/Pixel lineup. I upgraded to the Pixel 8 from the Pixel 7 and am extremelly happy. Everything works perfect for me and it is a pleasant upgrade. I am not a power user so I get plenty of battery life, the underscreen fingerprint sensor works great for me, and the improved facial ID is great. Not to mention, the size is perfect! I dont like big phones, so the non-pro Pixels are my go-to.
