Perfectly sized Pixel!
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Perfect size! I have been an owner of pf the Pixel 5 for a very long time and had been holding off on upgrading since nothing quite matched that form factor. I was long overdue for an upgrade and while this is not as small as the 5, it is fairly close. The camera, screen, battery life and haptics are leaps and bounds ahead of the 5, as I had hoped. I don't plan on using the AI features until they have matured a bit, so my experience of over the last week has been AI-less and I'm still very, very impressed by this phone.

Feels amazing and works (mostly) as it should
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Does everything you’d expect it to do. Awesome feeling phone in the hand, gorgeous screening, stunning camera (especially the front facing one it’s the best I’ve ever used). The problem is at weird points the phone gets ludicrously hot. I open a non-intensive game and after 10 minutes of playing the phone gets to 44 Celsius. Google has got to fix the optimization issues on this processor ASAP.

The deal does exist
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got my phone today. I pre-ordered it August 13th for the the trade in promotion and 200 best buy gift card. I received the gift card and hopefully receive full trade in credit when I send my old phone in. So far the new phone is good, only thing I was unhappy about is that Best Buy said it would be delivered 3 days ago. Hopefully this phone works better than the last Pixel 7 I just got last October which had a screen failure, not happy with Google customer service on that one. Wanted to post saying the deal did work and maybe some didn't order correctly.

Incremental improvement over previous pixel phone
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from a Google pixel 6. The device is a similar size. In this case smaller is better for smaller hands. The camera takes very good photos which is why you would buy a phone like this. The zoom is not as powerful as an s24 but there's not nearly as much Samsung bloat. The device runs well not too different from the pixel 6 but still an incremental improvement. Will it be too different from another pixel only a year or two old? No but I've coming from a 6 or earlier it's a good buy.

Pixel 9 Pro Review after 1 month of usage.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The software on pixel has been always amazing. But the device heats really quick when use it for extensive tasks like taking a lot of photos or gaming. The camera quality is itself good but take about 3 seconds to process each photo. The AI is ok to have but not really useful in day to day tasks. The best part is it comes with free subscription to Gemini Advance for 1 year.

Google pixel 9 review
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Takes a little bit to get used to. But the phone is a great phone. The screen is clear and you can get bright enough. Even in daylights. The camera is phenomenal. The AI is pretty darn good. And there's a ton of features. And 7 years of updates, perfect.

Next Pixel Generation Phone
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Bestbuy offers really nice trade-in deals with Google Products on launch. However, my phone did come poorly packed, better to buy these instore. Large box, ground shipping (slow) phone was bouncing around in the box, expected a lot more for a 1000 dollar phone.

The Pixel 9 Pro Doesn't Disappoint!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Google Pixel 9 Pro is the latest flagship from Google. As a long time Pixel/Nexus user, I’m always excited to get my hands on the latest offering in the Pixel line. The build quality of the Pixel 9 Pro is great, as expected. Google has really leaned into the sleek and premium design this time around. It’s available in 4 distinct colors, Obsidian, Porcelain, Hazel, and Rose Quartz. The polished aluminum frame adds to the premium feel but at the cost of making it a bit slippery in the hands. Google’s Tensor G4 chip promises smooth performance and efficient power usage. The fingerprint scanner is beyond belief. One of the best upgrades to the whole 9 line! The 16GB of RAM and multiple storage options, ranging from 128GB to a whopping 1TB, give you all the options you need. It would have been nice to see 256GB considering the starting $1,000 price tag. The 6.3-inch OLED display is bright (3000 peak nits) and vibrant, with a resolution of 2856 x 1280 pixels and a refresh rate that can go up to 120Hz, it might be the most beautiful screen I’ve seen yet. I’m not a huge camera person, but the specs here are high. It’s a triple camera setup, featuring a 50MP main sensor, a 48MP ultra-wide lens, and a 48MP telephoto lens with 5x optical zoom. The zoom is nice to see and comes in handy when trying to capture your kids on stage or on the field. Google’s AI-powered features are fun and offer some cool real world use cases. The Google Pixel 9 Pro is a fantastic all-around smartphone. The build quality, hardware features, camera setup, and overall performance don’t disappoint!

Premium Upgrade to Pixel Phones
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have been a Pixel Phone user for several years. I started with the Pixel 4, then the 6 and 7. Each new model brought an updated design along with some new features and improvements. This time I decided to get the Pixel Pro 9 when Google offered the Pro model in the 6.3" version for the first time, and WOW! This time Google hit it out of the park. A beautiful design that looks and feels premium. Just the right size, feels great in the hand, and the flat sides allow for a tight grip. In the box along with the phone you get a usb-c to usb-c cable. In previous models this cable would be used for transferring data from your old phone during setup. However, this time the data was transferred wirelessly from my Pixel 7. (Don't know if this would work with another brand of phone.) This was the easiest setup of a phone I have ever had. It even connected to home wifi without any input from me. Also, the phone came almost fully charged, but I plugged in the power cable during setup anyway. During setup you can add fingerprint and face unlock. I also have a Pixel watch which unlocks my phone. Though I never had an issue with the fingerprint reader on my Pixel 7, the 9 Pro comes with an optical fingerprint reader which is even faster and more reliable. The first thing you should do is go to system settings and make sure you have the latest software updates from Google. then go to the Play Store and update all of your apps. The screen is very bright. I live in South Florida and I am outdoors in the bright sunlight several hours per day. As much as I loved my Pixel 7, it was difficult to read the screen in sunlight, especially while wearing sunglasses. With the Pixel 9 Pro I can read the screen in the brightest sunlight even while wearing my sunglasses. Wifi, Bluetooth and cellular connections are strong , reliable and fast. Phone calls are very clear both on and off speaker. Call Notes feature allows you to transcribe a phone conversation so that you can refer to it later without taking notes. I always loved the cameras on the previous Pixel models, but the camera on the Pixel 9 Pro is a significant upgrade. The 42mp ultrawide front facing camera allows you to get more people in the shot. The skin tones and clarity are simply amazing. The back camera also has an ultrawide lens and a telephoto lens. Super close up shots show the tiniest of details that you can't see with the naked eye. NIght Sight takes long exposure pictures in the dark showing incredible details. Video is also markedly improved over my Pixel 7. Watching video is also a pleasure with very sharp detail, accurate skin tones and very clear audio. And as always, the camera app comes with tools for editing photos which are not only fun to use, but very useful. Magic Eraser is a carry over tool from previous models which I used on my recent European vacation. While standing next to the Eiffel Tower I took a selfie with my wife. The picture was ruined by the hundreds of people standing next to us. I used Magic Eraser and now I have a beautiful picture of just the 2 of us in front of the Eiffel Tower. Some new features are Add Me, which allows you to take a group picture and then add yourself to the picture later. You can also take a photo and completely "reimagine" it by changing the background. Videos can be edited by removing background noise. Gemini is the new AI from Google which is embedded in the phone. It has many of the features of Google Assistant and will probably replace the Assistant at some future time. With the Pro model you get 1 year of Gemini Advanced which among other things allows you to carry on a normal conversation with AI. It is absolutely amazing how well this works. You don't have to speak slowly or use certain words. You can even stop and change the conversation. It can help you write emails or find information on your phone. Of course Google phones come with the usual gamut of useful and unique features like Call Screening, Hold for Me, Google Translate for instant translation. When I was in Europe recently I was able to point my camera at menus in the restaurant windows and I could see the english translation instantly on my phone.. There is a wall outside of Paris that has messages in 50 different languages. I was able to point my phone at it and all of the messages were translated to english. All of the people carrying iphones were amazed and asked how they could get that. I told them "Get a Pixel". Also, as with all pixels you can do so many tasks simply by using your voice. There are simply too many features to mention in my review. Battery life so far has been excellent, easily making it through the busiest of days. After several days of use I honestly don't have a single complaint. I am still finding and experimenting with new features. Great job Google! I would recommend this phone to everyone.

Love my New phone
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I recently got my hands on the Google Pixel 9 Pro (128GB, Obsidian), and it has exceeded my expectations. Here are some key points: Design: The Obsidian color is sleek, and the build quality feels premium. The curved edges give it a modern, elegant look while remaining comfortable to hold. Display: The OLED display is absolutely stunning with vibrant colors, deep blacks, and smooth scrolling thanks to the 120Hz refresh rate. Whether watching videos or playing games, the visuals are top-notch. Performance: Powered by Google's latest Tensor G3 chip, this phone handles everything smoothly, from multitasking to running heavy apps and games without lag. Camera: The Pixel’s camera continues to be one of the best in the market. The AI-enhanced photography delivers crisp and detailed photos, even in low light. Portrait mode and zoom are especially impressive, giving professional-like results. Battery: The battery life is solid, easily lasting a full day with regular use. Fast charging and wireless charging make it even more convenient. Software: Stock Android 14 is a joy to use, free from bloatware and optimized for performance. Plus, timely updates from Google are always a bonus. Storage: 128GB is ample for most users, though heavy media consumers might want to opt for a larger storage option. Overall, the Google Pixel 9 Pro offers excellent performance, an incredible camera, and a smooth user experience, making it one of the best flagship phones available. Highly recommended!

A Delightfully AI-powered Phone
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.📦 UNBOXING: Inside the box, you’ll find the Pixel 9 Pro, a USB-C to C cable, a SIM ejector, and some basic documentation. No wall adapter is included, which I’ve come to expect at this point. I do want to point out that the box for the Pixel 9 Pro was surprisingly very small, and they use a lot of recyclable packaging, which I actually appreciate. In fact, a case that I purchased for my Pixel 9 Pro came in a larger box than the phone, so I think it’s worth celebrating Google’s efforts to be more eco-friendly. 💪 BUILD: The Pixel 9 Pro feels great in the hand. It has an aluminum housing with gorilla glass, and the weight feels great in the hand. I don’t find it to be unwieldy to hold, especially considering I came from a larger phone and wanted to try a smaller phone. The power button and volume buttons are on the right side of the phone, making it harder to take one-handed screenshots by thumb for right-handed users. Left-handed users can take one-handed screenshots with multiple fingers. As a right-handed user, I tried to enable the quick-tap gesture for screenshots by tapping the back of the phone twice, but this was incredibly unreliable. Hopefully this can be fixed in an update. At the bottom, you have a USB-C port that supports USB 3.2 gen 2 capabilities, and a speaker and nano SIM slot. The phone also supports e-SIM, which is how I ended up using it, but it’s nice to have a physical SIM if you need to buy a prepaid SIM during international travel. And on the back, you have 3 cameras housed within an elegant camera bump that lets the phone rest flat without rocking. And of course, Qi wireless charging is supported, but not Qi2 support, so if you have Qi2 or MagSafe accessories, you may want to get a case that will add these magnets. And of course you have the high resolution OLED display on the front with a selfie camera and a fingerprint sensor under the display. Both the selfie camera and fingerprint sensor can be used to unlock the phone, making unlocking a very frictionless experience. However, I do want to point out that adding a tempered glass screen protector genuinely seemed to inhibit the fingerprint sensor’s accuracy to a significant degree, and re-calibrating my fingerprints did not seem to help. While this might not frequently be an issue if you allow face-unlock, it is more likely to cause you problems when you try to unlock your phone in dark environments. I woke up in the middle of the night, and because it couldn’t unlock by face due to the dark environment, I had to unlock it by fingerprint which was very finicky with a tempered glass screen protector installed. But because it uses Gorilla Glass Victus 2, you might find that going without a tempered glass screen protector is something you’re willing to do. 📱 DISPLAY: The Pixel 9 Pro has a 1280 x 2856 LTPO OLED at 495 PPI, so it’s very crisp and clear, can reach an insane 2,000 nits of brightness for HDR and 3,000 nits for peak brightness, and supports refresh rates between 1Hz and 120Hz. In my unscientific opinion, this is an excellent display. I took it to the zoo under the bright outdoors and never had an issue with visibility. I’ve been running it under the out-of-box High Resolution mode instead of the Full Resolution mode, especially because it’s already very crisp while also saving on battery. Animations and motion look very fluid, especially because of the high refresh rate support, but the display will also save battery by dropping down to as low as 1Hz when there are only static elements being rendered. 📷 CAMERA: The camera system has to be one of the most sought-after aspects of Pixel phones. In my testing, images were sharp and vibrant with excellent contrast thanks to Pixel’s image processing pipeline. The 5x optical zoom produces impressive results, and even the digital zoom can produce impressive results at far distances thanks to computational photography. I also enjoyed the video boost feature that improves lighting, stabilization and reduces noise. But more than that, Google has introduced so many new photo features that there is likely to be something that you may not find on competing products. Whether it’s the photomoji, pixel studio, the “add me” feature that lets you add yourself into a picture so you never have to be excluded, and much much more. Those who want more refined controls over the capture process will also appreciate the Camera app that gives users much more control over things like aperture, shutter speed, ISO and exposure. And there are many more advanced controls that can help you capture excellent photos and video. 🔋 BATTERY: Battery life on the Pixel 9 Pro has been fantastic. As someone who has typically been using larger phones for a while partially because they often deliver more battery life, I decided to downsize to the Pixel 9 Pro, and I’m glad to report that I have had an awesome experience with the battery life on the Pixel 9 Pro. While I don’t have scientific tests to share, I can say that the Pixel 9 Pro can get me through a full day of mixed usage, and I also really appreciate that it is quick to top-up. Google claims that they can charge to 55% in about 30 minutes using Google’s own 45W charger. However, Google says the phone can charge at a 27W rate over USB-C PD, which typically means a 9V/3A charger. Unfortunately, because they don’t include a charger in the box, this may leave a number of Pixel 9 Pro owners without fast charging. Moreover, if you want to charge wirelessly, you’ll be able to achieve up to a 21W rate only with Google’s 2nd generation Pixel Stand, or a 12W rate with Qi-Certified EPP chargers. 🧠 SOFTWARE / PERFORMANCE: During my time using the Pixel 9 Pro, I never felt it slow down. It was very responsive, and that’s one of the most important elements of using a phone for me. Seldom did I run into crashing apps or weird UX glitches, and I think it’s fair to expect a handful of occurrences. It’s been years since I’ve come back to experience Android for my daily phone, and I’m delighted by what I have experienced on the Pixel 9 Pro. There are so many AI features on the Pixel 9 Pro that it’s frankly hard to list them all, but I think it’s hard to deny the value that Google is bringing to the table with features like Call Notes, Call Screen, Spam Blocking and so much more. Honestly, the hardest part is discovering all of these features, but I highly encourage using the Pixel Tips app to discover the many Gemini-powered AI capabilities that the Pixel 9 Pro brings to the table. 🧐 CONCLUSION: Overall, the Pixel 9 Pro is a superb Android phone in my experience. It delivers on all the basics, and then packs a punch with a ton of AI-powered features that bring meaningful improvements to people’s lives. And as someone who has been mostly outside of the Android ecosystem for around 6 years, there’s no doubt that this experience has left a very positive impression on me.

King of the Hill - for the moment?
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Competition in the phone market is intense; and dominance is fleeting. A new model comes out with features surpassing the last generation; but before the ink is dry competitors are out declaring their next model will outshine the rest. So, no surprise the Pixel 9 Pro is launched with much fanfare, and the Apple folks are shouting "Hey, hold on - wait'll you see what we got!" I have to say, out of the box, the 9 Pro was impressive. It's sleek, smart, a definite gem in your hand. Given its size, it's got heft - unexpectedly heavy to the hand. A very impressive build. Startup was excellent - within 15 minutes it had copied my sim, duplicated all my programs, restarted and was on the job. The hardest part was redoing my passwords - it's really about time I got myself a password app. The "Super Actua" display was brilliant, by default it's not on its highest setting for battery saving, but easily changed in settings if you need the detail. My first experience with the Tensor G4 chip was offered by the fingerprint reader - it's just flat out instantaneous, as are screen changes and app response. Over the past few days, my focus has been on the camera features.I was anxious to try the 5X telephoto feature. During the week prior, my wife & I had taken shots of the vent fan on our roof, seeing something that appeared strange. Comparing the 9 Pro's closeup shot against a five year old Samsung, it's as if we jumped an entire generation in processing. It actually caused me to lose control of my phone for the time being! Being a photo buff, my wife took control. She snapped photos of our dogs, and upon blowing them up, was amazed at being able to discern the individual hairs on their coats. That was the appetizer to the camera's ability. Where the Pixel really shines is in the dark. We started taking side by side shots in low light, and the image quality far surpassed what has been available in the market to date. Our fascination with the camera's abilities continued into the night. My wife took the Pixel for some outside night shots which I've included below. These photos were not taken at dusk, this was dead of night, the only yard lighting are a couple of 60 watt LED's on the house, and garden path lighting. It's just amazing what this camera can see that's invisible to the human eye. There's definition to the clouds in the night sky. We tried the AI enhanced photo features such as the "Add Me." You basically do a short pan of the area, leaving enough room to fit yourself in the photo. Then hand the camera to someone else in the party, take a shot of you, and the AI will incorporate the new photo into the original. Works well. I used the Magic Editor on a shot of the dog. I have a white dog, I simply said "brown"; and a few seconds later the pup had a very impressive looking dye job. Other things I noted along the way was the speaker was very good for a phone. Sometimes, when a ring tone comes on, it's almost as if it "throws" the sound. The Pixel has also been very helpful during the first few days, offering a lot of suggestions of the "do you know we can do this for you type?', highlighting features you may not be aware of. So yeah, as I said at the start, top of the hill phone features are fleeting, what comes next we'll see. I know I'm not one to change phones with every iteration, so it's nice to know Google has guaranteed updates for this phone for 7 years - I may have to take them up on that!

A great phone for many, just not for me
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I struggled with this review. I’m a real fan of the Pixel phones as well as a fan of Google as a platform. And my last phone – the Pixel Pro 8 – was the best phone I ever owned so far. But I’m always honest in my reviews and I have to say that while the Pixel 9 Pro is a very good phone, it’s not for me. What should have felt like an upgrade seems more like a downgrade from my Pro 8. The Pro 9 solves a lot of issues that users have had in the past; its new design provides better thermal shedding and prevents overheating. The new fingerprint sensor is super-fast and the screen is ultra bright, even in direct sunlight. And of course, there’s the new 50-megapixel front facing camera as well as the ability to use Satellite SOS services. Not to mention all of the new AI software features, some of which are truly astounding. Gemini Live is genuinely impressive and some of the camera features like being able to reimagine portions of a picture was not only a lot of fun, but also produced remarkable results. The problem for me is that I never had any issues with my Pro 8. I didn’t experience overheating. The fingerprint sensor worked for me more than 98% of the time. I don’t ‘selfie’ nor do I use video calling that frequently so the front facing cam was never something I gave much thought. Satellite SOS is a comforting thing to have in an emergency, but I never really go anywhere that it would come into play. And software is something that can easily be updated and upgraded through Pixel’s feature drops. Comparing the specs, there’s really nothing the Pro 9 does that the Pro 8 isn’t capable of already or couldn’t do with a software/system upgrade. I tried Gemini features like Gemini Live on both phones and I really couldn't see any measurable difference in performance. The nine core Tensor G3 performed just as well as the new eight core G4 in my tests. And a lot of the features exclusive to the Pro 9 like the new Pixel Screenshots app (which is an awesome idea) will almost certainly be available to the Pro 8 in a future feature drop. So, I’m left with two ‘improvements’ – the smaller overall size and the new styling. I’m sure that there were a sizable group of people out there that wanted the power and cameras of the pro phone in a more pocketable package, but I’m definitely not one of them. Yes, the Pro 9 does fit nicer in the pocket, and I DID carry it with me more often, but that honestly didn’t result in me using it any more than my other phone. That’s why I have a smart watch with LTE; so I don’t have to whip out my phone for basic tasks. And I really missed the larger screen! Of course, I’d have to buy a new case – that’s expected with most new phones. But it also would have required a new mount for my car; the current mount pressed on the volume buttons no matter how I adjusted it. As far as the styling goes… well, if I wanted an iPhone, I would have bought one. One of the things liked best about the Pixels was that it DIDN’T look like an iPhone. I’ll admit that it’s very subjective, but I never cared for Apple’s phone design and now it’s almost hard to distinguish between the two without turning it over. While I could get the Pro XL and have my larger screen back, it’s not going to help with the styling issue. Would I recommend it? If you have no issue with the style and you’ve been looking for something that fits in your pocket better, then the Pixel Pro 9 has a lot to offer. But if you thought that your Pixel Pro 8 was your best phone ever like I did, I’d suggest thinking about it more and seeing the phones in person. Personally, I’m in the process of reactivating my Pro 8 and keeping the Pro 9 as a backup.

Great hardware backed by good software... soon.
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Having not had an Android smartphone for over 10 years, it was quite a shock as to how much the Android OS has evolved versus the competition. The UI has a clean polished look, and the learning curve is nowhere near as steep as it used to be. The one thing that stood out to me most about this phone was the quality of the device - despite being the smaller version compared to the XL, the phone didn't feel compromised or cut down. The cameras are very impressive, with all of them being 48 MP. The photos taken were very pleasing, and I was impressed even with the zoom lens. While the stabilization was pretty aggressive using the zoom lens, that is what you would want, as moving the phone even the slightest bit scaled over long distances would result in a significant shift. The screen is very bright and color accurate. The two settings I would recommend for the best experience is that out of the box, the resolution is actually scaled down slightly and the full 120Hz is off, so be sure to set the Screen Resolution to "Full" and enable Smooth display. The speakers themselves worked very well, and charging via USB / Qi charging worked equally well. The battery easily lasted me an entire day with about a third left after moderate usage. The fingerprint reader is lightning fast, and I appreciate that it also uses the camera for unlocking. The only reason why I docked off one star is that the headlining feature of the new Pixels was Gemini, and while Gemini / AI features are very cool, not all of them are available yet until Android 15 launches later this year. Gemini as it is, though, is very useful, offering a more natural interface / interaction for getting the information that you need.

A solid daily driver
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am really impressed with the Pixel 9 Pro version. I like the build quality, and new design of the camera bar. It feels good in the hand. Picture quality is superb. Battery life is okay. It last me a whole day with 20 percent remaining before recharging. The sound from the built in speaker is solid. I like phones with high nits value and this is a phone that has that. The user experience is excellent. Minus one star for the price. It is 1K dollars and I feel it should have been priced less. Also, I experienced heating around the phone when used extensively, but not as bad as the previous pixel generations. My rating is that it is a buy.

Finally a Premium Nexus (Pixel)!!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. There has been a lot of hype around the release of the Pixel 9/Pro/XL series and I am for once glad the phone, in this instance the 9 Pro, is living up to it. Not since the Nexus years do I remember a Google phone that delivered on being the best of both software, hardware, and design; thinking of the Huawei Nexus 6P. Honestly, looking at the Pixel 6 you can see the design language carried over from the Nexus 6P. The 9 series feels like an evolution from that design and one that I gladly welcome. The ergonomics of the 9 Pro and its symmetry makes the device feel every bit of premium and at least this can help you deal with the price point. If you’re a gamer, no it’s not going to beat other chipsets, but the total hardware package in the 9 Pro is working really well. And to my knowledge this is Pixel’s first launch without some issue at launch…if you don’t count the on-stage snafu with AI. I know many want a “mini” Pro/Ultra device and for Android, this is as close as you're going to get; all the features of the XL in a pint size 6.3”. Day-to-day use is mostly my concern and over the years I have come to care less about the hardware specs being the latest just because they are. Rarely does it translate into the real world. With Google designing its own Tensor Chips, I will say the G4 series is definitely a refinement and the modem being used is a huge upgrade. My wife has had the 8 Pro since it came out and it has had horrible audio quality on phone calls. I sent it in for repair as an update never came, thinking it could have been software related, but Google said it was working fine. Our home has a Pixel 5, 7, and 8a in use and the 8 Pro was the worst of them all. Like a car having a 1000 horsepower and all the bells and whistles, if it doesn't drive straight, what’s the point? The 9 Pro drives straight! Call quality is what it should be and overall daily use is fantastic. AI has now taken over phones, which I don’t think I am complaining about…yet, but there is definitely a lot of new AI features that loaded up and while they are nice, I don’t think it really changes how I use my device. Pixel OS has a great list of communicating features, but honestly I don’t use any of them. Where my concern in a device lies, is whether or not it works at the basic tasks with buttery smoothness that a $1k device should and give me minimum real ALL DAY battery life…AND IT DOES! By morning when it is time to charge I am still at 30%. Obviously your mileage will vary based on usage, but for me, it’s great. There are plenty of tech reviewers out there that have all the stats, teardowns, and in-depth breakdowns, so I’m not trying to be that. I can’t answer if it is worth to upgrade, cause your needs may be different, but coming from the 8 Pro, it is definitely worth the upgrade. The smaller screen size isn’t even all that noticeable, what is noticeable is the ease of fitting it in a pocket or purse. If you can budget for the 256GB model, I would, 128GB is barebones these days for the amount of stores, restaurants, parking apps that are deemed necessary these days. Add to it the awesome camera photos and storage will fill up quickly. Can’t go wrong with a Black phone, especially if you're just going to throw a case on it. The 9 Pro is the first phone I can remember not wanting to put a case on because it feels so good in hand, so if you must cover up, find one worthy of the cause. That wintergreen of the base 9 series is pretty sharp looking and I wish the 9 Pro had color that wasn’t so bland…again, can’t go wrong with Black.
