I upgraded to this from the Watch 2, and I appreciate the improvements made from the previous generation(s). The biggest improvement is moving the charging contacts to the side of the watch. This lets you set the watch down in a more natural position (resting on its side) while charging, instead of trying to prop it up in an awkward position or resting it on the watch face for charging. Both scenarios I've tried and frequently end up with something bumping the charger or watch and they it would stop charging. On this watch, I can just place the charger flat on my desk, rest the watch on it, and makes a nice solid connection and much less likely to fall off if it gets jostled around. It also gets to about 80% rather quickly, with overall charging taking 30-40mins. Also nicely, the display rotates so it's still upright while on the charger, so you can still see the same and amount charged. The watch face itself is only marginally larger than the Watch 2, but what they're calling the 'domed' display, it makes the display appear much larger and they are able to fit more on it. The domed display is sometimes noticeable, but not distracting or disorienting. Also, the glass of the watch itself is NOT domed, it is flat, so you can't tell they're doing anything creative by just looking at it. I also haven't noticed any OLED burn-in. It's always going to be an issue with OLED tech, but this display seems to be high quality enough, plus any hidden anti-burn-in tricks have minimized the problem. The only thing I don't really like about this, is the battery life isn't really any improved over previous models. Especially if you use the GPS for tracking a run/walk/workout. If you track a workout that uses the GPS, charge it beforehand, and anticipate needing to charge it again at the end of the day.

Best watch for android phone users

I'm a current owner of the Pixel Watch 2 that I've worn for the last 2 years. I like that watch but I have to use battery saver mode all the time in order to keep it running for a day. The pixel watches have a deep integration with FitBit and I rely on the sleep tracking as part of my overall health so the battery on my smart watch HAS to last for 24 hours so I'm not charging overnight. The pixel watch 2 was OK - it provided a lot of the capabilities that I looked over my shoulder at Apple Watch users and was for the most part reliable, but I always had FODB (fear of dead battery). The Pixel Watch 4 is a notable upgrade over its predecessors - because of the decrease in bezel there is a larger watch face in the same package - the charge on the side has a much more reliable set of contacts and charges super fast, making it easy to get the charge you need, more options have been added to configure customer watch faces including a number of internal metrics. Overall this watch has a snappy response, a lot of smart upgrades to the OS that make it easier to do the things that you use your watch for every day and most importantly - it offers that high performance will 24+ hour battery life, no battery saver required. I've used a number of smart watches and this is hands down the best one I've ever had on my wrist. If you have an android phone this is the best choice for you.

OVERALL I've been in the market for a fitness tracker recently. My requirements were fairly simple, 1) no sub for basic data, 2) minimalist/discreet, and 3) not locked to an ecosystem. Initially, I was set on a ring as that was the most minimalist option that may draw the least unwanted attention. However, as time went on I found a number of unsavory features/details with most. I eventually shifted my attention to watches and instantly eliminated devices that didn't meet the requirements. Eventually, the Google Pixel Watch 4 came into focus and into my possession, and I can say it's everything I needed in a fitness tracker. It's stylish without being overly flashy where it looks like a fashion designer item worth 1 - 6 months of an average workers salary. KEY TAKEAWAYS + stylish, modern design + bright and responsive AMOLED display + lightweight, comfortable build + fluid and snappy GUI with Wear OS 6.0, offers fast app launches and smooth animations + powered by Snapdragon W5 Gen 2 + speaker is loud enough for conversations + offers excellent health tracking + IP68 rating + emergency satellite communication + exceptional battery life of 30 hours with normal use and 60 minutes quick charge to 100% HANDS-ON Getting it out of the box and on your wrist, setup with an account to use is a simple process. The most troublesome aspect is physically attaching it to your wrist with the default band. I ended up using a chain style band, similar to a typical watch, with an overlapping latching clasp. This made attaching it incredibly simple. You'll need a Google account and the Google Pixel Watch app to pair with your phone. Pairing with a specific/compatible device unlocks additional functions such as raise to talk, or the feature that allows you to bring your watch near your mouth and begin talking to it. No wake word or pressing any buttons to get the assistant listening to you. Unfortunately, with an older Pixel device, this feature does not work and is not present in the app to enable. Interestingly, a non Pixel android device of the budget price range, does enable this feature within the app, it just doesn't enable it on the watch itself so it isn't a function I can really speak about. Tracking health/fitness metrics seems incredibly accurate. From your fitness routines, sleep, calorie intake, step/distance measurement, and more. Besides health metrics, the smartwatch adds some safety features such as crash detection, fall detection, abnormal/no pulse detection, and safety check. All these can notify personal contacts of a potential issue including emergency services in case you are unable to do so yourself. The only odd metric that I'd point out is the calorie burn metric. I can easily hit over 2000 calories on a busy day but I cannot explain how it comes near that on off days where there's little planned. Days where that schedule goes from sitting at a desk for some stationary work to sitting on a couch for leisure, the motions in between couldn't possibly hit anywhere near that. One possible other nitpick to point out. No wall adaptor is supplied, just a specialty charging dock with type-c end connector and band. CONCLUSION The Google Pixel Watch 4 is an incredible device capable of many useful features. Not only does it serve as a fitness tracker, but a personal safety wearable making it useful for younger and older individuals. The watch looks stunning without being over the top which could draw unwanted attention for tourists in foreign locations or individuals in less privileged regions. This is worth 5-stars.

Best Android Watch? Solid upgrade. Just Plain Good

I am watch guy. That said, on some level for that reason, I have struggled to be a “smart” watch guy over the years. I have had them, used them, and liked them, but I think I may finally move to and stick with this one. I am also a Google guy, and I really like how this fits into the ecosystem and makes everything seamless. Beyond that, this watch is just plain good. Design wise, I know some people may prefer the square look, but I just love the round display as well as the fact that it has a rounded dome. It just “looks” like a watch to me. Further, the screen is fantastic. A good size, clear, and very bright. Easy to read night…or day. Additionally, both the screen as well as the crown are not only responsive, but also intuitive and easy to understand and use. Lastly, I like the band. It’s comfortable for me, and while I may explore some other options down the road, it is good enough out of box that I don’t feel it is needed. Battery life was a concern for me going in, as it has often been one of the things holding me back in the past, but it’s not an issue here. I have easily been able to get a day+ and the charging design and speed have made the whole process quite easy for me. Software for me is where I think this really shines. It is quick and easy to navigate. Since I am so invested in Google services, it is nice to have that integration on the watch. I think the software is fun and functional. There are tons of watch faces and customizations which are nice to have it looking like I want, but having access to my accounts, data, fitness stuff (although I really need to dig into this more), home stuff and Gemini is what I am really liking. Beyond that, it has some nice haptics which I always appreciate, the speaker is good, and the satellite SOS feature gives a nice peace of mind. Ultimately, I think this is a fantastic smart watch. It looks good, is built well, is comfortable, has good battery life, and performs very well. The fitness tracking has been reliable, and it fits perfectly into my device ecosystem. I think it is probably the best Android watch out there now, good for most people, and solid value for all that you get.

This is my 3rd Pixel watch that I have ever owned. I had the original, the 3 and now this one. I have to say, with each generation, these just keep getting better and better! I got the 41mm version which is definitely better if your wrists are on the smaller size. They also offer a 47mm size if you want to go a little larger. Out of the box this watch just looks beautiful. It virtually has no bezel and almost looks like the glass just wraps around the edges. Time will tell if that means you will pick up more scratches or cracks or not, but so far, mine has been holding up very well. Getting it connected to your phone is very easy via Bluetooth using the Google Watch app. There you can set up all of your settings, choose different watch faces and more. There are lots to choose from, so you are sure to find a watch face or 2 that you will love. The screen itself looks amazing and the touch function I found to be very responsive. Also, the software on the watch I found to be very quick and responsive as well. There is no lag between swipes or taps before the watch does something. So there is enough power under the hood to run the software very effectively. I find the software to be very intuitive and easy to navigate. After using it for a day or two you will be very familiar with all the controls and how to get to where you want to be in the watch menus. There are also plenty of add on apps that you can get in the app store if you are wanting to customize your watch even more! For sensors on the watch, you get Blood oxygen, Activity vs. inactivity, Duration of exercise, Distance traveled, and Calories burned and it also does sleep tracking as well. If you are getting this to track workouts and like to have your basic data tracked, this will work very well for you. It is also water and dust resistant and they say you can go up to 164 feet underwater with this watch. I’m not a swimmer, but just putting the watch in a glass of water or wearing it in the shower, I can confirm that it still works perfectly. There are also some amazing safety features on this watch as well. It offers SOS satellite communications, meaning if you have no cellular or internet connection, you can still get help if you need it. It also has a loss of pulse detection which can detect if your pulse stops and then call for emergency service if needed. This would be a great feature for seniors to have, especially if they are living alone. There is also fall and crash detection as well and it can also notify the authorities if either of those occur if you set it up. So, its like a lifeline button on your wrist! I might actually get one of these for my elderly mother who lives alone. Just for fun for a day I wore this watch on one wrist, and my Garmin Fenix on my other wrist. I compared the basic metrics such as steps, and sleep and things like that to see how close they were. I found that they were very similar in steps, some of the sleep data was a little different, but I know that can change based on what sensors are available. Overall, I found it to work very well, and track data very well. This can also connect to your smartphone to do calls if you choose as well. I found that the speaker in the watch was loud and very easy to hear. People that I was talking to said they had no problem hearing me as well. I wouldn’t use this feature in a public place where its loud or other people could hear your conversations. But if you are out hiking or something you could easily carry on a phone conversation using the watch. The battery life I found to be OK. You are still most likely going to have to put this watch on the charger every day. The 47mm one has slightly better battery life, but they claim about 30 hours for the 41mm size. Overall, this has been a great watch so far with some nice safety features built into it. I am hoping the rounded glass edges won’t be more prone to scratches or cracks, but time will tell on that. Definitely check it out if you are in the market for a new smartwatch!

This is an amazing watch. The set-up between my Pixel 10 pro phone and the watch was so quick and easy. It basically does everything for you. You just get it close to your phone and then answer questions about what you want to transfer to the watch. The different fitness tracking modes are more than I could ever use. The GPS function can be set up for emergency situations like a car crash or a fall even in very remote locations. The heart tracking function can automatically provide emergency contact if you were to lose pulse. The health metrics tracking keeps many different measurements and helps to manage stress, even. The watch itself is really stylish and pretty much the whole face is used for display. The customization allowed for your apps is almost overwhelming. The speaker is very clear and talking with Gemini is seamless and so convenient. The watch is incredibly durable- I have banged it against a metal door and it didn't even leave the slightest scratch. The battery life says it will last up to 72 hours on battery saver mode, but I think it may last longer than that. Charging is very fast. The touchscreen on such a small device is very precise. I would highly recommend this watch for any Android user.
