I like it, but if I had an iPhone, I would have gone with the Apple Watch. It's too bad the Apple Watch doesn't work on an Android device.

One reason I picked the 41 vs the 45mm Pixel watch 4, I have big forearms but slim writs. While 45mm give more real estate, the 41 fits more like a normal watch on my wrist. My old Pixel Watch is a 2. I've never had battery issues with it and use it for around 12-14 hours a day. I recharge ever 2-3 days. I don't really use it as a fitness tracker since I mainly do stationary biking and weight lifting. Biking is tracked through TrainerDay and QZ while weights are tracked through FitNotes. I wouldn't even think of wearing an expensive watch while handling weights anyways. My biggest used for a watch is for data, not tracking. Email notifications, home alarm alerts, reminders, etc. These are why I use a smart watch and I wish they'd focus more on the data than fitness tracking. It's hard to find watch faces that exclude useless steps, heart rate, and such. I just want data - which the watch does perfectly, it's just the skins keep forcing fitness tracking on you. One thing I love abut the watch is the beveled face. I have flat watches but that bubble on Pixel Watches just feel nicer when navigating. Having a big bubble of glass can get worrisome, but I've had my 2 for a couple years with no protector and only have one minor scuff. This even included a brick laying test when I want to see how it fared while dealing with mortar and brick dust. As good as 2 was, Pixel Watch 4 is even better. More use between charges, brighter screen, a curved OLED screen instead of a flat screen with a domed glass, faster processor. There's no mistaking that this is one major upgrade! The two things I hate about the Pixel watches is that you can't sync DND with any phone other than Pixels and you can't set an hourly chime. The only way to get both features on non-Pixel phones is to resort to 3rd party apps. I haven't delved too deep into the Gemini integration other than telling it to turn on/off lights or other home automation. I just haven't found any use for AI in the house for anything else. On a computer I've used LLMs a good bit. The Pixel Watch 4 is a huge upgrade over the Pixel Watch 2, but the 2 still holds it own. But if given the choice I'd snatch up a 4, lol.

Super Accurate Fitness Tracking And Fast Charging

I’ve already owned a smartwatch that I paid about $650 for and have been using it for around seven to eight months. No matter how hard I worked out, the highest heart rate I would ever see on that expensive watch was about 140 BPM — even when I knew I was pushing much harder. With the Pixel Watch 4, it’s completely different. It clearly shows how much effort I’m putting in and how many calories I’m actually burning. The accuracy really surprised me and changed how I view Pixel as a brand. The watch feels very comfortable — light, smooth, and easy to wear all day. Compared to my more expensive smartwatch, the Pixel Watch charges extremely fast. A quick charge and it’s ready to go again. The only things that frustrated me early on were attaching the wristbands (not as easy as I expected, took me a while to figure out) and pairing it with my non-Pixel phone. Setup took longer on my phone, though that could just be my specific device. Once everything was set up, it worked great — smooth performance, instant notifications, and reliable tracking. I got the 41mm version, which looks nice, but I wish there had been a larger size available at the time. For a bigger guy like me, the larger one would’ve fit and looked better. The emergency features are also a huge plus. If you take a hard fall or get into an accident, the watch can automatically call 9-1-1. That’s something you don’t think you’ll need until you really do — it’s a great safety feature to have. One thing I wish they’d improve is charging convenience. I’d love if they invented a small plug or magnetic charger that lets you charge the watch while you’re still wearing it — like when you’re sitting down or relaxing. It would save the hassle of taking it off all the time. Another thing I don’t like is that when the watch is charging, it doesn’t give you credit for steps through the phone. I’m not sure if that’s because I’m not using a Pixel phone, but you lose out on a lot of steps while it’s charging, which can be frustrating if you’re tracking your fitness closely. I also noticed that my more expensive smartwatch tends to be a little more generous with the step count. The Pixel seems to be more accurate — I usually see about 2,000 fewer steps on the Pixel compared to my other watch, which makes me trust the Pixel’s tracking more. **Pros:** * Extremely accurate heart rate and calorie tracking * Charges extremely fast * Comfortable and lightweight * Excellent safety features (fall and crash detection) * Smooth and responsive performance * More realistic step and fitness tracking **Cons:** * Wristbands are tricky to attach at first * Setup took longer on my non-Pixel phone (might vary by device) * Battery life could be a bit better * Would have preferred a larger size option * Can’t charge while wearing it * Doesn’t count steps while charging **Bottom line:** Once you get past setup, the Pixel Watch 4 is an excellent smartwatch. It’s comfortable, accurate, and fast, with safety and fitness features that actually make a difference. For someone into fitness, it tracks your effort better than most expensive watches I’ve used — and it honestly changed my opinion of the Pixel brand.

The interface with the Pixel is great but I'm having to charge it every day. Sometimes multiple times a day. The stock band is uncomfortable. Just ordered a few replacement bands to see if that helps.

Hey there, HeatherR. While we’re glad you enjoy interacting with the Pixel Watch 4, we hear your concerns regarding battery life. Here are some tips to reduce battery consumption and get more daily use out of your watch:

Shorten the screen timeout: Swipe down, tap Settings > Display > Screen timeout, and choose a shorter time, like 15 seconds. This means your watch goes to sleep more frequently when you're not using it.

Turn off Always-on Display: Swipe down and then tap Settings. Tap Display and then turn off "Always-on Display".

Turn off the Tilt-to-wake feature: Swipe down and then tap Settings. Tap Gestures and then turn off "Tilt-to-wake".

Best Android Watch? Solid upgrade. Just Plain Good

I am watch guy. That said, on some level for that reason, I have struggled to be a “smart” watch guy over the years. I have had them, used them, and liked them, but I think I may finally move to and stick with this one. I am also a Google guy, and I really like how this fits into the ecosystem and makes everything seamless. Beyond that, this watch is just plain good. Design wise, I know some people may prefer the square look, but I just love the round display as well as the fact that it has a rounded dome. It just “looks” like a watch to me. Further, the screen is fantastic. A good size, clear, and very bright. Easy to read night…or day. Additionally, both the screen as well as the crown are not only responsive, but also intuitive and easy to understand and use. Lastly, I like the band. It’s comfortable for me, and while I may explore some other options down the road, it is good enough out of box that I don’t feel it is needed. Battery life was a concern for me going in, as it has often been one of the things holding me back in the past, but it’s not an issue here. I have easily been able to get a day+ and the charging design and speed have made the whole process quite easy for me. Software for me is where I think this really shines. It is quick and easy to navigate. Since I am so invested in Google services, it is nice to have that integration on the watch. I think the software is fun and functional. There are tons of watch faces and customizations which are nice to have it looking like I want, but having access to my accounts, data, fitness stuff (although I really need to dig into this more), home stuff and Gemini is what I am really liking. Beyond that, it has some nice haptics which I always appreciate, the speaker is good, and the satellite SOS feature gives a nice peace of mind. Ultimately, I think this is a fantastic smart watch. It looks good, is built well, is comfortable, has good battery life, and performs very well. The fitness tracking has been reliable, and it fits perfectly into my device ecosystem. I think it is probably the best Android watch out there now, good for most people, and solid value for all that you get.
