Trying to go cellulose free at work....

So after taking the plunge for the high-end Pixelbook, why not toss in a little more to get the pen? The intent is to go cellulose-free and totally digital with notes from classes, meetings, and reminder lists, so the pen is needed to work on the handwriting recognition for note-taking apps. Paired with an app such as Nebo, this makes for the complete Pixelbook experience and functionality. Add in the Bellroy Pen Clip and a nice little Tomtoc carrying case, and the Pixelbook is ready to rise to the occasion without the need for a laptop case slung over the shoulder everywhere I go. This review is ostensibly about the Pixelbook Pen, but it is part of the "complete package" of being loaded for bear with the best Chromebook on the market. The Pen itself works well and note-taking flows smoothly, once you get the hang of whatever app you use to record and/or convert your writing. I have been carrying the pen around clipped to the Pixelbook (Bellroy Pen Clip) and have stopped being concerned about losing the $100 pen - the clip is a must-have if you are getting the Pen. Forget the free "pen loop" that Google is shipping to pen buyers, it looks cheap and is not consistent with the overall top-shelf appearance of the Pixelbook. I'm not an artist, so can't give an expert opinion on all the nuances and intricacies of the pen for drawing, so please look elsewhere for feedback on those aspects of the Pixelbook Pen. Is it worth $100? Puleeeeese... I think not. But what ya gonna do? Buy a Pixelbook, buy the pen. Otherwise you are missing out on the full Pixelbook experience.

Pen Works Well, if you need it

This pen works well. The pen itself isn't used very much by me. I don't annotate anything and you gave to install extensions if you want to sign documents. While I see how it could be useful, mine is hardly ever used. In fact, I usually use it just so I feel as though it wasn't a waste of money.
The built on Google Assistant works well, but again, I rarely use it. For power users who annotate documents or work with graphics, the pen is useful, but for the casual user, it's an overpriced gimmick.

If you're spending the money on a pixelbook, you need the pen. It's very expensive, but in order to fully enjoy the pixelbook you need one.

For what it is it's good quality, It works well and runs smooth on the screen. It's everything it should be, however, it should really be about $25 as that what it seems to be worth, especially when there's only so much right now you can even do with it. If you need it, get it, but otherwise don't spend the money.

The pixelbook pen is great. It's very responsive and works great with all the drawing and note-taking apps I've tried so far. Took off a star because it seems pretty pricey for what you get, and the Google Assistant button function doesn't appear to work at the moment.

One of the things i seeked out after buying the pixelbook. Used this a lot when taking notes for college and it really works smooth with the laptop in notes taking
Never really found a use for it except for taking notes though

Benefits:
1. It's light weight
2. The battery lasts a very long time
3. Pressure sensitivity is excellent
4. Feels good in your hand
5. Works well in a variety apps
Challenges:
1. Does not magnetize to the pixelbook
2. It sometimes rolls off the table when you set it down quick
3. I miss the natural erasing capability of the Ms surface pen.
4. Drawing delays start to occur after consistent use for more than a hour.
5. The plastic head does get brittle after awhile.

This is way overpriced for what it is. It doesn’t even have a chargeable battery in it. You have to buy replacement AAAA batteries about once a year they claim. The features it has are nice to have but not worth $100. Realistically it shouldn’t cost more than about $30 or better yet it should’ve been included with the Pixelbook. Unless you’re an artist or really really want the idea of highlighting things and having Google now look them up this is a pass.

If you have a google Pixelbook this is definitely a device worth getting. The pen works fine, and it pretty smooth to write with. The pen is pretty nice in your hand and does what you intend it to do.
It isn't as good as quality as the MS Surface pen, but is certainly one of the better styluses out there. The only thing I wish this pen had was more of a premium feel to it. When you are paying big money for a device, you want that very premium feel. It feels decent enough, and is fine, but a pen that felt like it was a premium pen would take this product over the top.
Overall, a good device worth picking up if you have a Pixelbook.

My wife loves her new Google Pixelbook and loves using the pen to edit, draw, and basically use the pen as a mouse. It is responsive and easy to use. Also, has Google assistant with the mouse button.

With a slate and generally with the slate types there is a lot of poking to be done. Some are larger images to poke, to start a program for example, and fingers work easily. But some are very small and my fingers have a hard time with small. So the pixelbook pen does the job very nicely. It fits in your hand nicely and the point does the poking job.
It also does the job when writing. Several of the pixelbook programs can handle handwritten into typeface. The pixelpen handles the writing quite nicely.
I have not tried drawing, but it is good at the other two activities so I suspect it does drawing just fine as well.

The pen is overall a great tool to have with the pixelbook. Every so often I catch a little glitch that usually is easily overlooked but isnt bothersome. The pressure sensitivity and functionality is great and has an amazing feel and battery life compared to the apple pen that seems to get all the credit. I think that with some simple updates on the pixelbook and pen, this could easily be a game changer!
