The GoPro Hero camera is a very good action camera that does all the basics. It’s amazingly compact yet still has a pretty full feature set. The device is simple in layout. Two rubberized buttons (power and shutter), the cover for the USB charging port and microSD card slot, and the lens cover, which is replaceable if damaged. There are no external inputs for things like a microphone, so you’ll have to use the internal mics. The battery, rated for 60 minutes at maximum quality usage, is non-removable as well. The chassis is rugged though, and is good underwater to a depth of 16 feet. On the bottom you’ll find the fold out mounts compatible with a seemingly endless number of accessories, and on the back you’ll find a decent LCD touchscreen. You can also do voice controls (toggleable on/off), so you can command it with “GoPro…” for hands free operation. It worked pretty well in my usage. The camera is fairly basic: you get stills at 12MP, 4K video at 30fps, or 2.7K slo mo. No time lapse or burst modes or anything of that nature. It keeps it simple, but for some it may be too simple. Image stabilization is very good, but here’s the wrinkle–it’s not done on camera, but in the GoPro Quik app, so that means you have to import them into the app for IS. While the image stabilization is excellent, I’d overall rate the camera quality as good but not great. Speaking of the app, it’s overall a pretty good experience for importing video and doing quick edits. It’s a bit pushy for signing up for a subscription service, however, which can be annoying. Setup via the app was straightforward, though not without its difficulties: the pairing process repeatedly failed and would not connect. After several tries it finally worked and allowed me to update the camera and use it. Who is this best for? I think given its size and simplicity, it’s an excellent “starter” action camera to get into the GoPro ecosystem. This could be either a very casual user or perhaps for one’s children who might have an interest in using such a camera. And given its size–you can fit it easily in a lot of pockets–it’s very portable. I will be traveling internationally soon and this will definitely be going with me.

This is a great motion camera to learn with. Great app support. Auto upload feature is nice.

I would love to give Best Buy a review of these products, but unfortunately, I have not received my order yet. I have not had a good shopping experience. I visited two of your stores on Black Friday to purchase a few items. I was told by a sales team member that one of the items was in stock but could not be located. He only searched for five minutes. He then asked, "why don't you just order it online". My thought was...because I'm here in store, in person. I needed the item for a work project. I reluctantly agreed and ordered online. There's now a problem with the delivery carrier. Here I am going on a month later, and I have no idea when to expect my products. I understand Best Buy can't control third party delivery services, but I feel like this entire situation could have been avoided by a little effort.

Limited features for an entry level camera. But, it does great, for what I need it to do. Video stabilization in software post, is pretty neat. Definitely satisfied.

Not bad, much better than the 11 mini, but auto stabilization only works once you upload it to the app.

Didn’t get to look at the quality of photos or videos. Camera got lost

I bought this with the intention of recording my family vacation of skiing in Europe. I purchased the camera about 2 weeks before my trip, and did the setup with the Quik app and all that stuff, the camera seemed to be working fine at that time. Once I took it skiing in Europe is when the problems started, the camera worked fine for 2 days and then just completely stopped turning on. I looked online for how to fix it but ChatGPT kept telling me that is a "common" problem with this camera. To say I was disappointed due to not being able to capture footage from my family vacation is an understatement and I will never purchase another product from GoPRO, id give 0 stars if I could!

Let's see. It takes a long time to download footage and to stabilize it to the point where you can use or view it. Won't work without using the app. Requires an SD card which you wouldn't know if you don't read the fine script on the box beforehand. For the cost, there's probably a better alternative.

Honestly just pay a couple more dollars and buy a newer version or different model of GoPro this one is just horrible. Two reasons why are because the battery life is just horrible only last about an hour and a half and the camera quality is just as bad please don’t waste your money on this productz

My grandchildren are thrilled with their GoPro cameras. I only gave 4 stars because the accessories are too expensive.
