If you're looking for the best do anything camera, this GoPro Hero 11 Black certainly fits the bill. It includes a lot of the features you'd expect from a large professional rig and fits it into a tiny ~4CuIn frame. The Hero Black is in its 11th iteration notably visible by the 11 on the side of the frame. Knowing this tells you its perpetually gotten better and to this level, improvements over previous models have been assured. I am coming from a Hero Session I purchased a few years ago because I needed something waterproof and small to capture all the fun beach moments going on cruises every year. It was very basic with a tiny lcd on top with 2 input buttons. So upgrading light years ahead with the Hero 11 has been an absolute dream I never realized. I have looked at previous models over the years, but didn't have any desire for them until the Hero 7. I became more intrigued with the Hypersmooth image stabilization and larger image sensors over the years. I came real close to getting the Hero 10 before hearing of the newest model in the pipeline. I'm so glad I waited, though not much of a departure from the Hero 10, it nonetheless improves upon the already stellar features like Hypersmooth 5.0, boosting the image size from 23 to 27mp and offering 10 bit color across all shooting modes. Superview (now Hyperview) uses the image sensor's full 8:7 aspect at 5.3K and automatically scales it to 16:9 ratio letting you play with FOV. The new image sensor is now bigger than a half inch at 1/1.9 allowing for better Horizon Lock at full 5.3K recording and allowing full frame recording at essentially the actual size of the image sensor at 8:7 aspect which can be resized later to either social media friendly ratios or wide cinematic sizes while maintaining the same great quality. Upon receiving, I set it to charge and realized after turning it on that it didn't come with a memory card. I fortunalely had a 128GB v30 sitting around for just such an occasion. I also had an extra tripod mount accessory from my old Hero Session. It was clearly evident with the first video captured (default is 5.3K/60) how Horizon Lock helps you realize how well the Hypersmooth image stabilization is actually working. It looked like I was using a gimbal instead of having it attached to a normal mini tripod. Low light shots were commendable for a camera with such a small aperture, though lighting was accentuated, shaded portions were slightly blurry. I like how you can slow down your video for cinematic effect, really impressive. Hyperview will come in handy for those times when a drone is inadmissible and you really want that view from above. Hyperview gives you that ultrawide angle, so mounting it to a tripod stick and hoisting it over my head and with Hypersmooth to mimic gimbal steadiness, will give the appearance of drone footage (only with sound). The battery is said to be longer lasting, but with 2 screens and use of both WiFi and GPS, I don't see much difference. I managed about 80 minutes; I suppose deactivating the front screen and turning off one or both antennas might give you longer life, but I haven't tried. Competition truly brings out the best effort and with prominent companies striving for market share in the action camera market, it's not hard to see how impressive things have become. GoPro still seems to offer that extra edge though typically being more expensive than rivals. The subscription service allows for so many cool editing features. I think it might be worthwhile to get the yearly service if you're a content creator or if you like to get snapshot highlights sent to your phone when you plug in to charge it. But it really is a great way to insure your device if you will most likely put it in precarious positions risking breakage. The best camera to have with you wherever you go should be the Hero 11 Black.

I recently purchased the GoPro HERO11 Black Action Camera, and I must say it has exceeded my expectations. The 5K video quality is stunning, providing crystal-clear and detailed footage. The improved stabilization technology ensures smooth and professional-looking videos, even in challenging conditions. The HERO11's user interface is user-friendly, making it easy to navigate through settings and modes. The touchscreen is responsive, allowing for quick adjustments on the go. The addition of advanced features, such as TimeWarp 4.0 and HindSight, enhances the overall filming experience, giving me more creative control over my content. The rugged build of the camera instills confidence in its durability. I appreciate the waterproof design, as it allows me to capture underwater adventures without the need for additional housing. The battery life is decent, and the camera's compatibility with various accessories adds versatility to its usage. Having said that, While the GoPro HERO11 Black boasts impressive features, it comes with a hefty price tag that may be a deal-breaker for budget-conscious consumers. Some users may find the learning curve steep when navigating through the various modes and settings, especially if they are new to the GoPro ecosystem.

GoPro HEREO11 is a huge upgrade from my HERO9. In the box, it came with GoPro HERO11 Black Action Camera, Enduro battery, carrying case, curved adhesive mount, Mounting buckle, Thumb screw, USB-C cable, and Owner's manual. Setup is quick and easy. After a full charge, I turned on the camera and it was showing the HERO11 in the Quick app to pair. The latest firmware was available and updated immediately. It is the world’s most versatile action camera and the video quality is incredible with resolutions such as Cinematic 5.3K60 + 2.7K240 and a whopping 24.7-megapixel high-resolution photos. The new larger image sensor delivers and breathtaking extra-large field of view. The HyperSmooth 5.0 video stabilization with horizon lock is added feature. I took this camera for a mountain bike ride and the videos are very stable with HyperSmooth 5.0 video stabilization ON setting. The long-lasting Enduro Battery is a nice upgrade and extends recording time up to 35%. With GoPro yearly subscription, the videos and phones will be uploaded to the cloud. Like other GoPro cameras, HERO11 is waterproof to 33ft. It worked flawlessly in snorkeling on our trip to Hawaii, Kauai. The Dual LCD screens are cool, and the front screen is perfect to take beautiful selfies/videos. The built-in horizon lock is a great feature to stay horizon level even if the camera tilts while recording. The video resolution is stunning with cinematic 5.3K video at 60fps with capturing 10-bit colors. The new HyperView is an excellent feature where the lens takes 8:7 aspect ratio footage and delivers it as a wide-angle 16:9 shot. It is easy to take high-resolution 24.7-megapixel photos from recorded videos. It supports up to 8x Slo-motion with a resolution of 2.7K or 4K at 4x slo-mo. Three new night modes will allow the taking of amazing night photos/videos. I have tried Star Trails recording and it was simply superb and a totally different experience while watching star trails recording. There is a schedule option to take sunrise/sunset and the camera will start the recording within a specified timeframe with the Duration capture option. Like Star Trails, a vehicle light trail is another amazing feature. HERO11 is compatible with 40+ mounts, mods, and accessories and I was able to all my existing accessories including Max Lens Mod, Media Mod, and Light Mode used for HERO 9 without any issues. GoPro HERO11 is the world’s best action camera for now with a lot of features and delivers beautiful videos and photos.

GoPro 11 is the go to action cam!

GoPro philosophy this year with the 11 appears to be keeping it simple and giving your action shots the image reproduction they deserve. I started with the 8 and then moved to the 9. Skipped the 10 and now have the 11. I use my gopro to get volleyball shots and mountain bike videos. The picture quality 11 vs 9 are very much improved. Color reproduction indoors is better. The 9 looks darker and not as brilliant. The 11 just looking at the color red during an indoor lowlight shot was night and day difference. On the 11 the red was actually red. With the 9 red looked more orange. Gopro has kept the form factor the same since the 9. That was a great move. I can use all my same screen protectors and rubber sleeves. They went with the enduro battery on the 11 out the box. Much needed improvement. The only complaint is that they didn’t make a higher capacity battery. I would have loved that. Well at least battery is removable. If you use instagram you will find the images scale better. With the new sensor you get more area in the photo. I don’t see any distortion either at the corners. This is an added improvement. 11 vs 9 with image stabilization I see the software has made video smoother. Everything shakes when you are on a mountain hitting jumps or just going over bumpy terrain (except the video). It’s amazing how the GoPro keeps everything level and smooth. Video playback in 4K looks amazing. If somehow GoPro can develop a depth perception function just so people watching can see the scale of the mountain drops or climbs would be awesome. I feel like I am watching playback at the IMAX when I watch playback. This camera really shines when used outdoors. I am able to grab video stills and use them as the thumbnail for my vids. Or grab video stills and use them as wallpaper with no loss of image quality. Being able to shoot raw as well gonna make me almost say by to my Canon DSLR. Last thing HDR in lowlight works well. Audio quality is the same. I use a cotton ball to muffle the wind. Gets hot while charging but not during use. Same greatness from GoPro!

GoPro HERO 11 Black Summary: An improved iteration of the GoPro HERO family. Pros: * Image quality is unsurpassed. At 27 megapixels you can bet every detail that can be captured is captured. * Optical video mage stabilization has always been a strength of GoPro; this iteration offers an even more fantastic jitter free video quality while on the Go. * Extra wide field of view sensor allows for capturing special moments in their entirety. * Touch screen controls. The unit is responsive and easy to use. * GoPro Quik iOS app setup is fast - just be sure to enable Bluetooth. The app detects the GoPro and boom! The app continues to provide easy to quick editing capabilities including adding text, soundtrack, transitions, and filters. It even offers templating to get you on your way to making cool quick video. * Waterproof to 33 ft. Have underwater adventures to capture? Not a problem! * Existing GoPro accessories are compatible. Cons: * I can't think of one. Use: I have the former GoPro HERO 10 that we used to document our hiking and biking adventures. That unit was lost to an unfortunate accident, and the GoPro HERO 11 is a perfect replacement. The standout features are the larger sensor, the stabilization/horizon correction software, the camera timer and control capabilities, and the light trails feature. There are so many enhancements beyond the improved sensors that its going to take some time to learn and master them all. To help users towards that end, they have different use "modes." Having owned two other GoPro products I can say that this is a fun iteration on a tried-and-true product line. I can't wait to capture more moments.

    GoPro 11 vs 10

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

GoPro 11 has a slightly larger 1/1.9-inch sensor. GoPro 10 has a 1/2.3 sensor GoPro 11 allows a 8:7 aspect ratio, so if you want to crop later for different social media platforms, then that is an added benefit. GoPro 11 also offers 10-bit video for those who do color grading. For those who own a 10, it probably isn't worth upgrading. If the 11 is on sale for just $50 more, it's better to go with that. If you're not going to be doing much edits and on a budget, the 10 is perfectly fine. GoPro 10/11 has an amazing stabilizer. The lens can easily twist off to attach different filters. The negative about GoPros are the battery life is terrible; it's less an hour. If you're going to capture memories on a trip, you DEFINITELY need backup batteries/charger.

The GoPro Hero11 Black! In the box you get the GoPro Hero11 camera, a mounting screw, a mount, a USB Type A to Type C charging cable, and an Enduro battery! Coming from the GoPro Hero10 Black and looking at the specs of the Hero11, i was not too impressed until i actually starting using it. I love playing tennis and occasionally will bring out the GoPro Hero10 with me to record myself so i can work on my form, technique, and footwork. With the Hero10 and Enduro battery, i notice that the hot weather usually causes it to overheat around the ~30 minute mark, more or less due to the temps outside. With the Hero11 and the Enduro battery, i encountered overheating issues around the ~45 minute mark when shooting side by side with the Hero10 in ~95° weather… At first glance, it appears that the Hero10 & Hero11 are identical in terms of the body, so there may be something else that is affording better heat management (perhaps a more efficient CPU). When reviewing the footage, i did notice that the color reproduction of the Hero11 was much more rich, and this is due to the 10bit color recording feature! Just wow! The banding is just so much more smooth and very evident, especially if you are recording backdrops with gradients. Another great feature that i appreciated was that the Hero11 has full horizon lock, meaning regardless of the tilt of your camera, the video would be locked per the horizon. On the Hero10, i bought the Max Lens to achieve this same effect as the tilt limit was ~45°, but no more need for that on the Hero11! This was a very much appreciated feature because when the balls come flying into the fence where my GoPro is mounted, it may tilt due to the sheer force but because of the full horizon lock, video footage still appears as intended! Hypersmooth 5.0 on the Hero11 also faired very well on this particular shot as well, as there was much less noticeable camera wobble/shake when the tennis balls made contact near the fence where the GoPros were mounted compared to the Hero10. Because the Hero10 & Hero11 are practically identical, i was able to use all my mods from my Hero10 on the Hero11. Technically, if you have any mods/accessories for the Hero9, it’ll work with the Hero11 as well :P As i mentioned before, from a specs to specs comparison with the Hero10, the Hero11 seems a tad bit underwhelming as it’s appears to be small spec bumps here and there. However once you try it out for yourself, there is no doubt the Hero11 is indeed the best and you can’t help but just marvel at how GoPro manages to keep bringing great improvements to what it always seems an already awesome action cam! I would highly recommend the Hero11 for hardcore active users! If you’re on a budget though, the Hero10 is still a great option for $50 less :)

For the last week, I've been testing the GoPro Hero 11 Black. It is hands down the best action camera made by GoPro. Prior to getting the Hero 11, I was using a GoPro Hero 5. So, I was in desperate need of an upgrade. In the past, I wasted time retaking a video because I couldn't center myself in the shot when I turned the camera toward myself. So, the first feature I like about the Hero 11 is the front facing display. I also love the Hypersmooth 5 video stabilization and horizon lock. Which keeps my videos stable while I am moving and almost eliminates the need to use a gimbal. I also like that the mount is integrated into the body of the camera. Making it more pocketable instead of being a separate enclosure. As for performance, the camera starts up significantly faster than my old one. As soon as I press the record button it immediately starts recording. Which is great because sometimes those precious moments in the beginning of a recording are critical to capture. The touch screen controls are exceptionally smooth and easily navigable. The sensor on this camera is excellent. In bright scenes the camera quickly adjusts to the lighting conditions and captures scenes with amazing color accuracy. The microphone is also excellent. It did an excellent job of capturing voices and minimizing wind noise. While I love the camera, there were a few things I did not like about it. Still photos looked good but were lacking in quality when compared to photos from a modern phone. However, I was able to get better photos by extracting them from the recorded videos. Also, the battery life was acceptable. But I would recommend picking up extra batteries and an offboard charger because the GoPro itself takes about two hours to get a full charge. With all that said. If you are upgrading from the Hero 5, like I did. You will be impressed by how good the Hero 11 performs. I highly recommend it.

The GoPro Hero11 action camera is an excellent way of capturing various photo or video shots in any condition. The camera is made out of a soft touch plastic type material. The material shows little to no fingerprints. The only fingerprints that are visible are those from the front or rear LCD screen. The Hero11 has a removable battery. To get to the removable battery there’s a door that’s on the right side of the device. The door is quite hard to open for me. At least I don’t have to worry about the door opening and my battery falling out. The Micro SD Card and USB-C charging port is located inside that compartment. The LCD screen on the back of the Hero11 is touch screen, and it also has a screen on the front next to the camera module. The Hero11 does a great job of capturing photos and videos. The video and camera quality is good. It’s right on par with my iPhone 14 Pro Max. My iPhone quality is better, but the Hero11 is not too far behind in quality. The Hero is able to take wide cinematic photos. It also have the ability to take vertical photos for social media if needed. The boot up time of the Hero is fairly quick. When I use the app to view a preview of of what the Hero11 sees, it’s not as quick. The app requires my phone to connect to the Hero11, which takes several seconds to load. It would be nice if the connection speed was a bit quicker. Overall, the Hero11 is great for capturing footage where other cameras or phones maybe susceptible to damage. The Hero11 can handle it with no problem.

This is my third GoPro Camera and I am just as impressed with this camera as I was with the first two. It's been a while since we upgraded - so I I was easily impressed by the quality of sound and video and the ease of transfer to my phone. What you get: the camera, the battery, adhesive mount, mounting buckle and thrumb screw, usb-c cable, camera case. What you don't get: micro SD card (extreme/pro cards recommended), wall charger This was very easy to set up once I had the right SD card. It would not format my micro SD cards that were not pro or extreme (no matter the size). You It takes beautiful video and has excellent sound. The video is 5.3k resolution at 60 fps. You can do slow motion, pause video and take 15.8 MP photos from your videos. It shoots up to 27MP photos. Has great vido stabilizaiton. It is also very rugged. I dropped it from about 8 feet and it didn't do anything. Some of the cool features include voice control, webcam mode and the ease you can transfer and access the data from your phone. You can set it to automatially upload from your GoPro to the cloud eveyrtime you are charging your Go Pro. You can also set it to delete the files from your SD card. This is a fun, easy to use, high quality camera for the extreme sports, vlogging, or anyone who just likes to capture memories!

The last GoPro I owned an actively used was the GoPro Hero 3, so this is huge upgrade for me and was excited to see what GoPro have done. I am impressed. In the box (nice, large, hard case with plenty of room for extra accessories): - GoPro 11 - USB C Cable (yay for USB C) - Helmet Mount You will need to get a U3 High Speed microSD Card (not included). You also need to install the (FREE) GoPro Quik App and sign-up for a GoPro account. You can find the app on the Android and iOS App store. There was a firmware update out of the box and I will add that the GoPro Quik app is friendly and easy to use. Using the GoPro 11 is easy to use thanks to the touch screen. Although I did find the controls a little sensitive. I recommend turning on screen lock. Photo quality is good, but video is where the GoPro Hero 11 shines. I'm going to try and upload some video for the review, because the 4k Video is clean, the lens doesn't flare out with bright light and sun, and it picks up audio clearly. I did some tests outdoors and also at a music/DJ set and the GoPro stands head and shoulders above using your phone. One of the newer (for me) features is that the GoPro 11 shoots vertical video - great if you want to share video on social media. However, I found when shooting vertical video the exported video on my iPhone was still coming out as horizontal, so I had to rotate the video. This would be easy to fix with a software update and is the reason I have deducted a star because it's a little frustrating. Overall, this is a really good upgrade and if you're coming from an older model and have not GoPro'd in a while, definitely worth it. Looking forward to getting outdoors and really putting it through its paces.

Great camera. I'm still learning how it all works. My only issue with it is that it seems to overheat after some time. I want to be able to use my camera to it's full potential but it always leads to overheating with time which actually sucks. However, the quality is fantastic. It has amazing feature's and again the quality is great. However, $400+, I wouldn't spend that much again. $300, ok but $400+ for a piece of equipment that overheats, not it! However, aside from that. I do recommend this camera. It's very cool and very useful. Very happy!

With improved low-light performance, 10-bit color for richer hues, and a range of new frame rates and aspect ratios, it’s a versatile tool for capturing any adventure. While battery life remains average, the Hero 11’s new Enduro battery helps extend usage time in cold conditions. I Was using my iPhone to record videos for my YouTube channel, but wanted to step up my game with better video quality. I was not disappointed with the GoPro 11. Huge night and day difference between my iPhone and GoPro 11. GoPro 11 is a cleaner crisp video. Also the plug and play to transfer video to PC is easy. Also, the GoPro app is awesome, you can see the camera live on your phone, control the GoPro from your phone and download the video you record to the app. 100% recommendation for the GoPro 11. Can’t wait to upgrade to the newest version….far into the future of course.

My first exposure to GoPro was about 3 years ago. My daughter went to a swimming birthday party and they all took turns going down the slide while holding the GoPro pointed at themselves with a selfie stick. The next day, I received a youtube link to check out the video they made. It was so cute, so fun, and it had music. I was impressed and bummed because I wanted one, but I thought that it would be too much new tech to learn and master. I'm so glad that is not true. GoPro Hero 11 does not come with a bulky instruction manual. It's so much easier to see it done than to have it written out over a gazillion pages. The web address is provided in the manual, so you can look up the online manual with pictures or view tutorials and chat with experts. There are so many how-to videos you can search up also online.       You must first update the camera before it lets you record video. I had issues connecting with the Quik App by bluetooth. It said it was downloading, but after 30 minutes of patiently waiting, I started over. Same thing again. Luckily, the handy how-to video that I watched showed how to download the update straight to the microSD card. On the website, it had a step-by-step description of how to do it. I did, and I was in business.    The Hero 11 edition has very impressive features. The image quality is blowing my mind. I can't wait to use this in lots of different places and cut my kids loose making videos too. The stability features that come on this camera make the video pleasant to watch. Everything is so smooth. (You can make the stability less effective in the menu options so it can give that authentic bumpy feel if that's what you're after.) There are a wide range of options to pick from when choosing the aspect ratio you'd like to film in. You can do wide cinematic shots or extra tall vertical shots. I love them both! I see one and I go, "Ooo!" Then I try the other and I say the same thing. It just depends on what you're filming. The options for switching between the two is super easy to access, so I appreciate how user friendly it is once you learn what each of the symbols means.        That brings me to my next recommendation, look up the GoPro Cheat Sheet. I found the link from one of the tutorial videos I watched. That would be nice for GoPro of put in their little instruction booklet packet.       My biggest gripe is that it doesn't come with a selfie stick. To me, that seems standard. So, shop around and get one that is compatible. There are lots of options, from super compact so you can keep it in your pocket, to ones that will float in water so your camera won't sink accidentally. I already broke down and bought one. The Hero11 only comes with one stick-on curved mounting attachment. I think buying additional stick-on attachments is in my near future, along with a chest strap. I purchased the one-year subscription on the Quik App so I can edit my videos. It was half price for the first year.       My second gripe is that it did NOT come with a microSD card. Even if it was a smaller memory GB microSD card that would be okay. You can't power on and get going or even do the update unless that microSD card is in place. I will include the microSD card recommendations in the pictures so you can see the chart that GoPro recommends for microSD's. (Not just any microSD will give the quality that you're after.)       I can already tell that I will want a second battery so I can make sure I have plenty of battery life to film throughout the day. It says that the older GoPro's batteries are compatible with the Hero11 too. If you're upgrading to this newer version, that's nice that your other batteries will still work. Overall, this camera is awesome. Yes, I would recommend to anyone who is on the fence. Just GoPro for it!

Camera works fantastic for underwater photography. I utilized this camera multiple times for my scuba diving classes and I am impressed with the quality. However, battery life is lacking and you often cannot record for very long. Other than that it was a great purchase!

By far the best purchase of 2022. The hyper stabilization is crisp. No wonder it’s market leader. I have been taking it to my every single adventure place and it never disappoints me. The video quality is phenomenal, easy to use, far better build quality, literally perfect in every angle.
