On duty
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the GoPro Hero 12 from Best Buy, and I’m extremely satisfied with it. The video quality is outstanding—especially the 5.3K resolution, which captures incredible detail. The stabilization is top-notch; even while walking or biking, the footage stays super smooth. Battery life is noticeably improved over previous models, and it doesn’t overheat as easily. It’s also fully waterproof, which made it perfect for pool and beach use on my vacation. Connecting it to the app is quick and seamless. Highly recommend it to anyone looking for a reliable, high-performance action camera!

This is my first GoPro but Wow!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Let me start by saying I am not a Go Pro expert, this is my first purchase of a Go Pro. Also, I am not a super athlete or super active adventurer. I wanted to take the plunge on this because I am going to be a new Grandfather soon! Purchasing this was not about trying to upgrade to any new features either and while many may say, you could have purchased an older version cheaper, I wanted to start with the newest version with all the newest features so that this would last me for several years. I really like the blue speckled textured camera coating. We took this to the beach when we first got it and it didn’t disappoint! Its water proof to 33ft but we were just in the waves and the water wasn’t clear so no underwater pics yet but its nice to use at the surf and not be afraid of getting wet. The perspective that the GoPro pics give is so “in the moment”. I finally got to experience the feeling that many GoPro users already know and that is how much you feel a part of the experience that your picture or video is capturing. Setup was simple but only because a bug had already been discovered in the pairing/setup of the new firmware but GoPro provided an update that you just placed on the micro SD card and the upgrade started immediately. First of all I noticed the HDR is a new feature. While I am not an expert on it, you can tell a clear difference in how color and brightness are managed even in lower light. Lower light is ok but not great but not knowing how previous versions were, this must be better. I used the Highest quality video mode for all my current stuff but in playing with it, it says standard quality is still 4k and actually better for those that are viewing on smartphones that sometimes struggle to playback some of the higher resolution videos. Settings are easily changed on the camera. I am still working my way through all these features since this is my first GoPro but if you are a camera expert, this thing gives you the capability to change things like ISO, white balance and other key aspects. As a new GoPro user, you can quickly find new features/usability/setup videos that will help you, that is what I have been doing. There are so many professional and tweakable settings you really do need to review some of the experts that have posted videos. This is truly the quickest way to get the max value out of something without struggling on your own. I really love the small size and portability of this camera. I really love the accessory pack I purchased (not included with camera) as it gives me a high quality selfie stick, tripod and other key pieces. I even plan to use a strap where I wear it on my chest while I bike or do other activities. The quality of the video and pics is amazing. I highly recommend this and will try to update this review as I uncover additional features and functions. I am giving this 5 stars because from a never user view, the quality, the features and the ultimate possibilities of the things I have done and am yet to do are totally worth it.

1st Time user of a GoPro
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GoPro Hero 12 Black: I was excited to test out the new action camera from GoPro. I’m familiar with the DJI action camera, so I assumed the GoPro would be similar and just as easy to use. I opened the box and quickly charged up the camera so I can begin using. While the battery life claims to be longer than the previous version, I wish the camera came with more than just one. I knew I had to purchase my own micro sd card and any other accessories I might want. Once the camera was charged, I went to insert the micro sd card into the camera and broke the camera. To protect my fingernails from chipping, I inserted a paper clip underneath the drain microphone and popped off one side. The panel didn’t move enough, so I popped off the other side not realizing that this section of the camera is not removable. GoPro really needs to redesign this feature. I’m familiar with my other action cam having the battery on one side and the sd card inserted into another. After further reviewing the camera and some YouTube videos, I realized the sd card goes into the same area as the battery. I know many products no longer provide a user manual, but I think GoPro should publish a better diagram of the camera layout and some basics to get you started. My new $400 action camera is now broken before I was ever even able to use it. From what I have found on YouTube, the broken cover to the drain microphone will not interfere with the quality of footage or the fact of water-proof. I’m still upset that the camera is broken, though. In order to use the camera, you must download the Quik app. After several attempts to download and follow the prompts for set-up, I was finally able to use the new GoPro. The app is kind of cool since I can view what the camera can view. I can start and stop recording, and I’m able to change modes to take a photo. I’m still getting used to using the app to create a video of the footage I record and the photos I take. The quality and clarify of the videos seems great. You can record in a lower quality mode, 4k mode, and even record in 5k mode. The higher quality of video, the more space used on the micro sd card. So long as you have plenty of space on the card, I’d suggest to record in a higher quality mode. The higher qualify makes zooming in the editing process worthwhile. The quality and clarity is still visible even when you zoom in a little more than the raw footage. I have tried recording an outdoor concert at night and it seems to capture some of the scenery instead of just a black screen. I don’t like to talk in my videos, but the microphone pics up music and vocals well. I do like to use music in the background of my videos, so being able to capture the sounds makes for a great background for my videos. I do a lot of hiking and I feel that the stability of the footage is more controlled than before. The video doesn’t look shaky or distorted. My other action camera seems to “move” in the rocksteady mode and the GoPro seems to be less moving while walking. I also do a lot of bicycling. I have a bike mount to hold the GoPro and the stability is just as good. The full screen mode is another great feature. In this mode, you can capture an extended view of everything surrounding you. While it’s not a 360 view, it captures more than just a “flat” picture ahead. There is a slight fish-eye look to the video or photo. When you edit and crop the photo to fit the screen or the section of the area you want to zoom in, you get a much more quality photo. I think this is a great feature if you intend to edit the outcome. If you have no intentions of editing, I would suggest to use the regular mode to avoid the fish eye look of the picture. The side button of the camera quickly moves the setting from photo to video to time lapse, etc… I don’t believe those setting could be set to my likings for each mode. The top button quickly turns the camera on to the last setting which is great when I want to capture a quick video. A quick click of a button will stop the recording and turn the camera back into the off position. I was able to use the camera without having to recharge for a couple of days. While I didn’t use the camera continuously, I did use the camera for several trips for several minutes at a time. I feel that the battery life of one battery was longer lived than what I’m used to. Although, I will probably purchase additional batteries for backup. I don’t want to get stuck with a dead battery in the middle of a trip. I also feel that the batter took a little longer to charge than what I’m used to. The battery was down to 20% and took longer to charge than a completely dead battery that I’m used to. Charging the battery is fairly easy. The hardest part is taking the battery cover off. While I can’t stick a paperclip under the cover, I could use the ledge of the cover to push my thumb against to slide the cover open. The charging cord fits right into the micro-usb type c port underneath the cover. The red light turns on to show that the camera is charging. If you enjoy being active and like to capture your adventures, I think the GoPro Hero 12 Black is a great option. It’s very comparable to the other action camera that I own, seems durable, has a cool “built-in” looking cover, and has blue specks all over. I would still suggest to purchase a separate case to protect the exterior of the camera from damage in case of rugged spills. I would give this product 4.5 stars. If they could fix the drain microphone cover so it’s not so easily damaged, I would improve my rating.

Very good
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As someone who loves outdoor adventures and vlogs, the GoPro Hero 12 Black has been a game-changer for me. The video quality is phenomenal—5.3K at 60fps is super smooth, and the stabilization is unbelievable. Whether I’m hiking, biking, or even doing some watersports, my footage always comes out clear and steady, even in rough conditions. I also love the new horizon leveling feature. It keeps everything perfectly aligned, no matter how much I move the camera. Low-light performance has also been improved, so night shots look way better than before. The battery life is noticeably longer, and I’ve found it lasts through an entire day of shooting. Plus, it’s super easy to use—whether I’m taking quick shots or recording longer clips, the Hero 12 just works. If you’re into action sports or travel vlogging, this camera is definitely worth the investment!

Another Fantastic Entry by GoPro
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.GoPro really made a name for themselves as the first action camera in the industry for consumers, and one that provides video recording in a small capable device. The latest Hero 12 is a great addition and has been really fun to use so far! PROS: - Unboxing I immediately like the look of this GoPro. It has a great blue-speckle to it and just has that signature GoPro compact look with a lot of tech built in. - I did have to update the camera right away out of the box, which GoPro will help you with via the Quik App. However, if you have issues with the App just reach out to GoPro and they should be able to provide you an update file you can drop directly into an SD card. - Once booted up, this camera really is awesome to use! It has insane specs you want like 4K 120hz video recording or even 5.3K at 60hz! Or you can opt for an even faster refresh rate at 2.7K at 240hz. Really is awesome and the high quality video recording you want! Of course along with that it has even better video stabilization tech for smooth views in bumpy conditions. - I nice forward thinking move was the addition of a Vertical Video mode which should be helpful for those who are creating content for that vertical style (TikTok, YouTube Shorts, Instagram Reels, etc) which is of course a big way most creators and businesses want to showcase their content. - The screens on the front and back are beautiful, bright, and really helpful while filming to make sure you have the right view you want! Especially when you add mods to the camera where you might be holding it with a selfie stick or something like that. - Per usual, the GoPro is always packed with a strong make as it can go under water for 33 feet deep and can be dropped without breaking. It's meant for the outdoors and GoPro will always make sure of that. - Lastly my favorite update is the vastly improved battery life on the GoPro 12. Very useful to not have to charge it as much! CONS: - The Quik App by GoPro is just okay. It has a lot of promise but I find it laggy and not always the easiest to use. Lucky software updates are easier to fix than hardware so all good! BOTTOM LINE: - GoPro is once again the king of action cameras. The Hero 12 is no exception as it offers crazy video rates of up to 5.3K (that's right, even more so than 4K) great video stabilization, vertical video recording for content, and loads of smart features. I think you will not be disappointed in the latest from GoPro and should be a lot of fun taking on your next adventure!

Another Great Camera in the GoPro Lineup
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first GoPro was the Hero 9. Going from that to the Hero 12 is a bit of an upgrade. The chassis has remained almost exactly the same and I’m glad. The small form factor of a GoPro makes it easy to stash and take on any adventure. I do really like the blue speckled appearance of the 12. I think that will help to hide scuffs and scratches as the camera ages. Other notable improvements/features include: - Improved image sensor for up to 5.3k60 video and 27MP photos. - Improved Hypersmooth 6.0. This was already a standout feature on previous GoPros. - Vertical framing for seamless video sharing to social media. - Inclusion of an Enduro (1720mAh) battery in the box for improved recording time. - Tripod mount between the GoPro accessory attachment legs. SO happy to finally see this on a GoPro. For those with other cameras who already own a tripod or monopod, it’s nice that an adapter is no longer needed if you want to attach your GoPro. The way this was integrated is so seamless…it probably could have been added years ago. - Ability to switch between easy and pro controls. Something that I think is a deterrent for many older folks or novices from using cameras other than the one on their phone is the fear of its complexity. Easy controls allow you to simply choose between basic, standard, and highest quality video modes. The camera explains each, but does the rest. Simply choose which mode you want, point, and shoot. While I am comfortable changing settings on my own, I find myself using easy controls for convenience. - Not a new feature, but I appreciate that GoPros are rugged and waterproof out of the box. Other action cameras that I have used require the use of a waterproof case and this is a hassle and a half. I love being outside in the summer and my new GoPro will be spending many days with me jet skiing on the lake. I’m also looking forward to taking it with me on vacation next week. If you want to capture photos and videos outdoors or in environments that make you nervous to pull your phone out, consider getting a GoPro. Be sure to do your research for the one that best fits your needs if you’re being budget conscious. If you’re going for the best of the best, the Hero 12 is an excellent choice!

Great little action camcorder!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new GoPro Hero12 has a nice pattern around the body; its overall a dark grey color with blue scattered flakes, and the lettering being the brand and model are of the same blue color. Having a previous GoPro Hero (the 8 model), it is a bit bigger all around, like maybe a 10-15% increase. There is a color front display screen (something new to me) and your same usual rear touch screen, both show what the camera is capturing so the front display is useful when recording vlogs and some selfies. While my older GoPro came with their simple storage case, the Hero12 does not. So, if storing and protection is your thing, there’s their brand case or 3rd party action camcorder cases of course. Out of the box, there is a reminder card stating that updating is necessary before using, which indeed you’ll need the smartphone app GoPro Quik, however I’m more preferred downloading the latest firmware from their site, and copying onto the microsd, to then inserting the card in the camera and turning it on (and everything happens from there). Of course, a computer is needed, and the camera should be charged at least 50% and you NEED a microsd card (whether updating via the sd card with the software or having the sd card in and setting up on the smartphone app. Otherwise the update cannot proceed. I do also have a remote control accessory being the GoPro Remote Control, which I have used with my older GoPro, and was able to use it with the Hero12 and automatically updated the remote flawlessly as I haven’t used it in a while. The menus and submenus differ just in a different order; There is a menu option of camera controls of having either easy or professional (which then shows the option of turning on and changing the level of the boost/smooth action for more stable movement and then changing what levels. I haven’t played much with regarding recording and capturing footage, taking pictures, etc., but I believe the battery life will be much better than my previous GoPro, as comparing the battery sizes, this is a bigger battery and would last a bit longer even with the max settings on. I mostly plan on doing linear aspect ratio recording in the meantime which is good for gatherings and public events. As I do occasionally go cycling, I just may change it up a bit with a common 16:9 ratio. Also, there’s a screw hole at the bottom (along with the 2-fold out hinges for GoPro tripods and mounting accessories); meaning you’re definitely not limited to just the GoPro accessories but can use any single screw tripod or mounting accessory which I even have an old on from the previous camcorder days. So anything of a tripod or a camera mount from way back when, definitely can start putting it to good use!

Amazing little camera, stunning image quality
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’ve had a Hero 7 Black since 2018 and its been useful, but honestly I haven’t used it in awhile. Now that I’m getting back into enduro/dual sport riding I figure its time to upgrade my camera equipment so I got the Hero 12 Black. I read somewhere on the interweb that there are not a whole lot of changes between the Hero 11 Black and the new Hero 12. That may or may not be true, I really don’t know, but I do know this. There is a TON of new functionality between my old Hero 7 and the new Hero 12 Black. And since I haven’t used my older camera in years, I would consider myself and am writing this review from the perspective of an essentially new GoPro user. Upon unboxing a couple of things that were immediately noticeable was the new black with blue speckles finish which looks pretty cool. GoPro also added a 1/4-20 thread on the bottom which will be very useful since I have lots of tripods/accessories with this thread and can now use them all with this camera. Next step is turning on the camera and updating the firmware. Once that was done I began pairing with the Hero12 and the Quik app and it was anything but seamless. The camera will say “searching” and was not connected when my phone say it is paired. Every time I pull up the Quik app to pair with the Hero 12 the status on the camera rapidly/randomly starts blinking and will not connect. After doing some research of others experiencing the same thing, I had to go to the Bluetooth connections on my Iphone and remove the Hero12 (“forget this device”). Then I’d go back to connecting on the Quik app it would connect right away. I’ve doublechecked my firmware and I’m all up to date. At first I was having to do this every time I turned on the camera which did not make sense. The connecting process needed better instructions or something, or maybe it was user error since it had been awhile since I’d used a GoPro. But eventually, and I’m not exactly sure why, the Hero 12 now connects to my phone/Quik app consistently. So then I headed to Utah and went on an epic motorcycle ride. Once done riding/filming in Moab and reviewing what I captured, the first thing I’d say about the Hero 12 Black is the footage/pictures are stunning. The picture quality is amazing. There are numerous modes like Burst that I didn’t get to try out yet, but you can see in the attached photos that the color saturation and clarity is excellent. Similarly, the video is superb. The HyperSmooth 6.0 video stabilization really shined in my motorcycle footage. It is amazingly stable and I was riding some extremely bumpy terrain. I definitely still have some getting used to the Quik app and its functionality. I guess its like any new thing, the more you do it the better you get at it. But again not as user friendly as I thought it would be. I did sign up for a GoPro subscription which lets you “Enjoy effortless backups, limitless cloud storage, worry-free camera replacement and exclusive discounts”, and the first year's subscription is half-price for new subscribers at $25 so I figured what the heck. I have my camera set to ‘auto upload’ my files to the cloud but it definitely takes a long time to upload. If you close the app to do something else like call/text, the app tells you to leave it open to improve upload speeds. That’s a bit inconvenient if you need to use your phone for other things, and I have no idea how long its going to take, you just see a cloud icon and a blue spinning circle but no status like “50% complete” or something like that. I did some research and found “Use the 5GHz Wi-Fi band option in the Connection Settings for the fastest upload speeds.” I looked on my camera and it was set to 2.4 GHz as the default, so changing this setting did help. Going forward I guess I’ll just leave my phone plugged in and the Quik app on overnight or something because it literally took several days to upload my footage to the cloud. Also, after shooting new footage and I would turn on my camera later and the Auto Upload process would begin. But I would frequently encounter an “Upload Error – check wifi connections” message. I have strong/stable internet service so I don’t know why this was happening. I would restart the upload, both auto and manually, but I kept getting Upload Error messages. I did some research and there are many other GoPro users running into the same issue. I guess I’ll just have to keep working on this to find a solution. I also noticed some files uploaded, some did not. I’ve tried over the past few days to upload the files that did not automatically go for some reason. They are large files to be sure but they have not made it to the cloud. They are in the App portion of Quik, just never uploaded to the cloud and I can’t figure out how to get them there. Again, I think this is functionality that I am just getting used to so more experience on my part is needed going forward. I used the GoPro Quik app Studio to make quick edits, ie, short clips from my footage and found that to be super easy, fun, and pretty darned effective for making short clips. Lots of templates, music and editing options to produce very nice looking clips. I’ve already ordered the Media Mod and Volta which will be great additions for other activities like hiking. On my previously mentioned motorcycle ride I can definitely see how the remote would also be useful so I ordered that, too. When I was riding I was trying the voice commands, e.g., “GoPro, take a photo”, “GoPro, start recording”, etc. The camera wasn’t always picking up my voice for whatever reason (or maybe I wasn’t saying the commands correctly, I think I said “GoPro, take a picture” and the Gopro was like “No, I don’t understand what you’re saying”. Again, my bad. Anyway, I had to take off my helmet and take pictures which was cumbersome and inefficient. The Remote will definitely take care of this. At the end of the day, if I could rate the hardware/camera separately from the software I would give it a strong 5. Its been great to use, tons of functionality, many of which I haven’t had the chance to use yet but can’t wait to do so, and photo/video quality is superb . But the app/pairing/cloud uploading has not been seamless and a bit frustrating especially at first. I have learned a lot since initially getting the Hero12, had to research quite a few things, and performance of the camera/cloud and my knowledge are all improving. Lots of updates since the Hero 7 black so I look forward to putting all the new features to work and creating with them, just need to keep learning things I don’t know, and I have a lot to learn about this awesome camera. Can’t wait!

Video quality is stunning—4K footage is crisp and vibrant, and the stabilization is unreal, even when I’m mountain biking or hiking rough trails. The low-light improvements are noticeable, giving me clear shots at dusk and indoors. The interface is intuitive and makes quick adjustments easy, and pairing with my phone for previews and edits is seamless. I’m also impressed with the improved battery life; I can film multiple sessions without recharging. Whether I’m capturing vacations, sports, or everyday adventures, this camera delivers professional-level results in a compact, rugged package. GoPro nailed it again.

Rough start but works good now
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’d like to give this 5 stars but there are a few things stopping me from doing so. First the bad stuff. The battery cover which also houses the charging port & sd card is very hard to open, you have to press down firmly & then it pops open. I was unable to get the app past the connection screen, it needed a firmware update requiring downloading a folder on a computer & dropping it in sd card & putting back into camera. There was a sheet with diagrams for setup but no instructions. There was a cover on the side which houses the mic & is a drain which is not to be opened. I found that out too late, after calling support , and I broke it. This doesn’t come with a bag like my GoPro Max did, only 3 attachments are included & one is for a helmet. Battery life is ok but I left it in the camera so definitely remove it if not in use! Micro sd card not included. Now the good stuff. Setup in the app went quickly, can power on/off in the app or by mode button, can also view media in the app. Touchscreen makes it easy to navigate . Waterproof to 33 ft., The 27mp camera takes nice, clear photos with 2 modes, super photo & night. I didn’t find the night pictures to be that great. Camera can be turned around for selfie mode with small screen & the screen on back is larger which is great. The lens detaches but doesn’t come with a cover & a 2.0 lens can be purchased separately. The camera has 3 modes , photo, time lapse & video. There is a delay timer In time lapse mode & you can get creative with vehicle light trails, star trails & light painting. Video mode has 3 settings, Basic which is 1080 & saves battery, standard which is 4K & highest which is 5.3k, the videos look great, I used highest quality for my video below & there was some wind noise but I was impressed how stable it was since I was riding & holding it on a selfie stick with no shake. Playback can be done on the camera or in the app & battery charges in the camera. I had a rough start with this & almost gave it 3 stars but after the bugs were worked out I am impressed with the videos & photos.

Be the Hero of your home videos
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The new GoPro Hero 12 is here, and it looks like we have another winner. Sure it’s a little thicker and heavier that I would like, but overall you get a lot here, a pretty large touch screen in the back, a smaller screen in the front along with a high-quality lens. The battery has lasted an average of two hours while using it at 4K resolution, maybe not the greatest, but it is to be expected after taking such great quality pictures, and videos. Does not come with a microSD so you have to go out and purchase your own, make sure you get one that says v30 on it, my 256 GB microSD card gets roughly 10 hours of 4K video footage. That’s overall very good. Included in the box is a mount for a helmet, any other accessories you’re going to have to buy separately. There’s lots of options to play with on your new GoPro, you can choose different resolutions, whether you want the front screen on or off to conserve battery, you can take pictures and videos in wide screen, or vertical, there’s a Time-lapse feature. The rear screen is also a touch screen so it makes everything a lot easier in terms of maneuvering through the menus. Overall well-built, and very solid, you can’t go wrong with GoPro.

Huge Upgrade from a Hero 8
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am no stranger to the Go Pro series. I started with the Hero 8 and loved it, and then a few months back it took a dive, never to be seen again. And then along came the Hero 12. Now, nothing against GoPro, but the 12 had a rough launch, with my unit specifically getting stuck in a set-up loop and not saving settings and it took some messages to the GoPro tech team and one zipped firmware file later, things were working as intended. If you get a unit and this happens to you, simply reach out to support and they will assist you. A few others had similar issues from what I have read up on, but again, GoPro's support is great! Kudos to the team. The camera itself is INSANE with the ability to shoot in 5.3k resolution. I've heard of 8k resolution on newer TV's but never in a camera, so shooting higher than 4k is possible, just make sure you have a snappy memory card (I don't and the Hero 12 doesn't hesitate to tell me). The video shooting is just as impressive, again able to capture 5.3 k resolution. Whether you are new to photography or a seasoned photographer, the go pro makes it easy for everyone to capture life's moments, via settings in the menu, there is a pro mode and easy mode, pro mode being more control over exposure, white and black balances, and such. A feature I am digging is the front color display, which allows you to do selfies and video, so that you know if you are in frame, etc. The Hero 8 only had a black and white LCD so this is a pleasant upgrade for me. Now GoPro's companion app allows you to adjust all the settings, remote shoot and update the camera, and edit your photos and videos. I'm not an app guy, I have Adobe's Lightroom and Photoshop for all my photo needs, but the app helps when it comes to videos. If you're looking to upgrade or new to the Go Pro cameras, the 12 is a great system for anyone of all skill levels.

Absolutely love this goPro Hero
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. When the goPro arrived it was at 17% charge. I started charging it at about 7pm and it was at about 85% charge at 10pm. I want to say it took about 4 1/2 hours to charge maybe 5 hours max to reach 100%. After installing an update and getting that worked out, the set-up was a cinch. I already had the Quick pro app installed because I have a goPro max, and it was a cinch to add to my profile. Once it was all set-up, it worked beautifully. I love how you can control the camera on the phone through the app so I can be hands free and just press record from my phone while the camera is on the stand or on the attachments. I love how the wide view can catch so much of the area you are recording because that came in so handy during my daughters volleyball tournament. I got so many good recordings and pictures. I was very impressed on how good the video quality came out and how much of the court I was able to capture. The videos came out great! One huge bonus of the app is how you can create a highlight video on all of the videos /pictures you took. The camera is small, but took great shots of the whole court. I cannot wait to use this on many many more volleyball games, bike rides and trips.

Good for your buck.
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.have owned every GoPro since the Hero 3. The cameras have evolved and changed so much since then. Since the Hero 10 however, there have only been minor improvements. I believe this is because GoPro’s have become so refined and proven that there is not a need for big changes every year. The Hero 12 creator edition is the perfect camera for vlogging. It has everything you need built into a small, lightweight, and versatile package. One of my favorite features is the stabilization. It used to be that in order to get super stable video it required a bulk gimble. Even with a gimble it took a technique and knowledge for the video to turn out well. The in camera stabilization that GoPro uses is point and shoot and looks great. Since GoPros are waterproof, the camera audio can sometime be less than ideal. However, using the creator housing it comes with a built in shotgun microphone that allows for excellent audio. If you prefer, you can plug in any external microphone. One of the coolest features GoPro added to the camera this year is the ability to connect wireless earbuds, including Airpods. This allows you to use them as an external recording device or remote voice control your camera. I believe this is a big game changer. The next big thing that was upgraded this year is battery life. I have never had an issue with battery life because I prefer to record in shorter clips. If I run out of battery I just replace the battery with another. However, for some it might not be this simple. For example, if the camera is mounted externally to a vehicle and you cannot change the battery. Regardless, the extended battery times are welcomed. The creator edition includes the battery grip which I highly recommend if you are holding the GoPro or using it for vlogging. If battery life is important, then you can always shoot at a lower frame rate to conserve battery. The GoPro Hero 12 packs so much tech into a small and quite affordable package. I do not think there is another camera on the market that can offer everything it does in a small and versatile package. If you have a GoPro Hero 10 or 12 the new features may or may not be worth the upgrade. The reason I get a new one every year is because it never hurts to have more than one camera anyway. If you do not own a GoPro and are looking for a Vlog camera or simply a camera to capture your adventures, then look no more. Both the pictures and videos that this camera can produce will make people think you are using a much more expensive camera

Fantastic upgrade
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. If you notice anything on this new gopro its the new operating system. Its snappier, more efficiant and will last a bit longer in most cases. I HIGHLY recomend a 256 gig card which will give you plenty of room to shoot everything. Simply turning the camera on is faster, the video feels cleaner, and HDR mode is fantastic. Is this night and day from the 11? No. But if you are looking for the best gopro has put out, this is it. The max lens mod2 is a massive leap forward! Its worth the upgrade for the performance boost if you are squeesing all you can out of your gopro. Everything just feels a little better. Again, not night and day!!!! But enough to make it worth it. Enjoy making films everyone!!! Keep creating!!!

Disappointing and nearly useless.
||Posted . Owned for 3 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The GoPro Hero 12 is a compact camera capable of shooting high-resolution. It has some image stabilization, and it's durable. However, this piece of garbage has failed every time I needed it most. I was recording indoors, in an air-conditioned house, and the GoPro Hero 12 overheated just before the most crucial moment when I needed it. Another time, it overheated right before another crucial moment. After these two failures, I decided that enough was enough and I returned it. I can't have a camera failing to record when I need it to record! The GoPro Hero 12 also fails in low-light scenarios, making it worthless for anyone recording anything other than bright-daylight settings. I can't recommend any alternative products, either, as DJI cameras all require spyware to operate. Maybe if GoPro can work out the overheating and terrible low-light performance, I'll buy another one. But this thing cannot handle recording in an air-conditioned room and it can't handle recording in a shaded area, so what can it really handle unless it's surrounded by water to cool it off?

Thrilled with my GoPro Hero 11 Black
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Just upgraded to the GoPro Hero 11 Black and it's phenomenal! The video quality is stunning, especially in good lighting—crisp, vibrant, and full of detail. I'm amazed by the HyperSmooth 5.0 stabilization; it makes even the roughest action shots look smooth. The HyperView mode is a game-changer for wide-angle shots, adding a dramatic feel to my videos. It's incredibly user-friendly and the app integration makes editing a breeze. Hands down, the best action camera I've owned!
