GREAT UNIT - LOTS TO LEARN/consider BEFORE buy

Bought this as my first GoPro - have used it 5 times now snow skiing in the Sierra mountains near Lake Tahoe. It has performed flawlessly - once I figured it out.
In the start up paperwork it said to go to the GoPro website to find getting started information - not sure where, all I could find was mostly what looked like advertising video's on why to buy one.
The "beep" (single beep - ON) when you turn it on is hard to hear and multiple beeps (off) at times with a ski helmet on!! So anyone getting ready to buy it - remember this comment!!
Biggest issue I have is how the battery runs out so quickly. I turn it on right before, and off right after a ski run, making a 5 to 7 minute video depending on the length of the run and can only get about 1 hour's worth (give or take) of video per battery. Good thing I bought two batteries to start with but should have bought 4 or more probably. I can't imagine what I'd do if I went on a camping trip or some other long duration trip, like mounting it on my motorcycle for a 3 -5 hour ride knowing I'd have to pull over and swap out the battery every hour or so, OR, I guess I'd have to chose a much lower resolution to video in and if so, what was the point of video'ing the ride??
ALSO, I'd have to remember to bring and charge up the batteries - swap out the video cards a couple of times a day, etc., etc...so again, anyone thinking of buying a GoPro, remember this is not a basic camera - it's shooting tons of data VIDEOs so expect to plan for enough batteries and vid cards for what you have planned or you'll get only a snippet of your event when it runs out of juice!
So apparently there's a lot of trial and error involved with the use of the GoPro so biggest suggestion to GoPro would be for them to put in some sort of chart in the paperwork to give us a clue about what resolution is useful for what kind of videoing and for how long that would last.
Still, all in all - those comments are not the camera's fault - they show me how much work I have to do to learn how to fully use it - still, GREAT camera - KILLER video later - totally with the price- but the extras are definitely NEEDED but add up to LOTS MORE $$$ - even more than camera price VERY quickly!!! (ONE memory card $100 EA!!!- you'll need MANY - MANY - MANY of them to film for a whole day!!!)

This is a great video camera that can fit in your pocket. Great video quality and easy to use. The camera is waterproof and takes amazing videos under water with proper casing of course. Only downfall is the battery life. Could be a bit longer but still can't beat the quality and ease option of pulling stills from video with gopro app. Takes micro SD, does not have zoom, and only uses GoPro adapters to attach to external tripods etc.

Bought this camera before our trip to Mexico. Very easy to use and download the photos or video to our tablet was also very easy. Wasn't sure if the LCD screen was going to be necessary, but found it to be very helpful for me.
I have an I-phone, so I downloaded the App onto it. I then used the phone on occasions to operate the camera. This was a very cool option for me. I could see exactly what the camera was recording and was able to make changes to camera if I so desired.
Next I need to download the video editor and start playing with it.

Been researching the GoPro Hero 4 Silver for a while and finally took the plunge. This camera is super small but packs a lot of punch! Great quality and easy to use. A little frustrating that it doesn't come with a wall charger and you have to charge while the battery is in the camera. I bought an extra battery so this makes it impossible to charge more than one at a time. So I had to purchase a wall charger as well. I also wish they included a little bag of some sort to keep all the pieces they include. I just ordered a case from Amazon so I don't lose things. Some basic instructions on the camera would be helpful so I recommend heading to the website before you even try to take it out of the box. I was afraid of breaking things and the video on the website shows you exactly how to remove it quickly and easily (wish I knew that beforehand). Like all the extras features like being able to turn off the LED blinking lights. Paired super easy to my phone with the app and love the fact I can control the camera from my phone. Makes it so much easier when the camera is mounted. Anxious to start experimenting more.

I originally bought this for my my baby shower a few months back and I gotta say I am very impressed by the amount of space and versatility this tiny camera has. I bought a cheaper Chinese brand online to try to save money, but their camera ended up breaking on the first day I got it, and was a pain to try to ship it back to have it replaced. In all honesty this camera has so many things you can use it for the possibilities are almost limitless. I really enjoy that the back has a small screen in the back. Even though it may take a bit more battery life I haven't had any problem with it. Just buy some extra batteries if needed.

Last year, while on a cruise, my wife and I made friends with a couple. I knew about the GoPro, but when I seen them with one taking pics of their family in the water and on land with a stick. My wife and I decided we need one. This year we are taking our kids on a cruise with us. My oldest and I will be doing some excursions, particularly zip lines. I have been using my GoPro Hero 4 Silver around the house (on my bike, setting it on a table, with a stick down low recording my dogs) and its fun. I find myself looking at accessories a lot. I'll post more once we go on the trip. Looking forward to snorkeling with it as well. What I know. Hero 4 Silver is the only one with a touch screen. The others, including the Hero 4 Black, requires an add on. The apple app is cool, but its a direct wireless connection, so it has some lag time. I got the wireless remote since it is water proof up to 10 feet in the water, but reviews I have seen on You Tube show it doesn't transmit well past 6 feet under water. Still better than using your phone. Get a Stick. Get extra batteries because at best they last about 80 minutes. If your and about this could suck to run out of juice. Im looking at a polarized lens to help with the glare of the Caribbean or any sunny day. So far though, this thing is cool. Post more after the trip.

I use my camera on my motorcycle for vlogging and am experimenting with different angles and mounts this summer. Currently, I have it mounted on the chin bar of a Shoei RF-1200. Works out perfectly. I am looking to add an additional camera in the near future. For now I have to move it around. Software that comes with the camera is easy to use and the setting on the camera are not confusing at all. The touch screen is small but so is the camera. This is my first action cam and I love it. I pull screen shots from my videos with power director 13 editing software. The camera itself takes nice pics as well.

I use my GoPro each week to make highlight videos for my student ministry. This camera has not only made that job extremely simple it has given me exceptional quality video and files that are not too big!
I choose the silver over the black because I don't need 4K and I wanted the lcd screen so I can see what I'm shooting.
If you are shooting in low light you are going to need to get a light. I purchased the silver Knog Qudos Action Camera Light and I am very happy with the results.
There is no camera out there that will give you this quality video at this price point.
My only complaint is in regards to the battery life. It does not hold a charge long when the camera is not being used. I have gone to use it several times now and it will be dead.

So I initially thought the GoPro was very gimmicky and definitely not suited to my needs - I'm not part of the motorcycle riding, surfing, sky-diving, action junky crowd that you see all the great GoPro movies of. But, I do like to travel and see the world. I decided to get GoPro Hero 4 Silver (bundle) and try it out on my honeymoon with my wife to Greece. I brought this, my DSLR and my iPhone. I ended up using the GoPro and my iPhone most due to convenience - but also because it takes some amazing photos. The fish-eye style lens lent a lot to the photos that we took. I didn't absolutely need a selfie-stick - I bought and used the GoPro Handler predominately. I used the GoPole Evo when we went to the beach. It's easy to use and easy to upload photos. No, it's not nearly as versatile as a DSLR when it comes to manually adjusting how you want to take photos, but it definitely suited my needs. I'm now sold on the GoPro and will certainly throw it into my bag for my future adventures.

I thought this GoPro with the touch screen could be hard to use but my Granddaughter had no problems using it & it takes really good pictures !!!
Be sure & get the float if you are going to use it under water or in the water. Battery life is about one hr. so be sure to get a 2nd battery. The advantage of the touch screen is you can review your pic's right on the spot & don't have to wait til you get home. A Great Camera !!!

I've used several brands of action cams and GoPro is top of the line and by far my favorites, with all the accessories you can purchase there's not a spot you can't mount this tiny camera, you can put them anywhere!! Turn off all the LED lights so they are not noticeable! Yes they are expensive but well worth the money, don't try the cheaper brands, you get what you pay for! You want quality then buy a GoPro!!

Recently bought the camera for a trip to dubai. Used the camera in the ocean while swimming and jet skiing, went running and 4 wheeling. The footage came out great to me. I'm not a photo snob so maybe I'm not looking hard enough haha. Very easy to use and setup, seems durable. Would surely recommend this to a friend. My only gripe is that it does get fairly hot after 10-15 minutes of continuous use.

I looked at several different options when purchasing this GoPro and the Silver had everything that I wanted. The camera comes with 3 different case protectors so that you can utilize the touch screen functionality. The camera is very easy to use while enjoying your outdoor activities, especially while wearing large ski gloves :) The Picture resolution is superb! Great Buy!

I love my new GoPro because of how compact and it is and how you can use it for variety of activities...tried it during sledding and the video gave it a different perspective on the angles. The photos were good but wish I could zoom it in. No big deal! Burst photos are good for action shots.
I would have given it five stars if it wasn't for the battery draining when the unit is off. Even when I recharge my GoPro and full capacity and I shut it off and turn it back on, my GoPro is dead. It's such an inconvenience unless you have spare batteries. What I do is I take the battery out now when not in use.

Upgraded to the Hero4 from the Hero3+ and I must say gopro outdid themselves with this camera. I purchased the silver edition with the built in LCD screen. It is literally a point-and-shoot camera and is so convenient and easier to use than any camera gopro has produced. Not only is it now a point-and-shoot but they always made it a lot more user friendly and it is so much quicker as well with viewing pictures and video through the gopro app. I never had a problem previously using the little front screen and symbols, but now I can faithfully hand off my gopro to my mother or grandmother and they could figure it out.
My only negative I have to say is I wish the black edition of the Hero4 was able to incorporate the LCD screen along with 4k/30fps because I was looking forward to that, but hopefully they'll fix the over heating issue for the 4+.
All in all, definitely one of the best cameras gopro has produced to date. Can't go wrong with this camera!

I bought this camera for personal (I'm not a photographer or extreme sports enthusiast) and I love it. I didn't need it, but it's something cool to have to take interesting pics and videos you wouldn't be able to shoot with your iphone or a point and shoot. It's easy to work and use, waterproof, and takes great videos that aren't extremely shaky without a steady hand (for example, I filmed myself riding on an ATV using the GoPole and the videos came out great despite the rocky terrain). Best for scenic shots, not what I would use for upclose pictures of myself or friends.

There. Is a bit of a learning curve. But once you get the hang of it it's a lot of fun and takes amazing video. It's perfect for Facebook and it's much clearer than using the cell phone video and posting. I travel a lot and it's perfect for travel and very compact. It fits in your pocket. The camera chips hold tons of video clips. And I have not found the battery life to be as short as people say. I keep a spare battery in case. All in all I love it and I'm happy I got the wifi version. It's so easy to wifi video from the camera to the cell phone for easy FB posting.

The LCD preview screen is a great upgrade over my GoPro 3. I have since updated my GoPro 3 with the add-on LCD screen but it is much more bulky than the 4 Silver. The quality of the picture is great as you would expect from the GoPro line of products. Still looking for a zoom capability on the GoPro's. Overall I am very pleased with my purchase.

This GoPro Silver 4 is a bang for it's buck. It is so small it fits in your packet and is easy to use. The only draw back is that when it moves around in your pocket that may cause the camera to stay on. This causes the battery to die easily. It takes good quality videos- they are sharp in appearance and have vivid colors. I love that you can buy different attachments to use for different events. I would recommend this camera to anyone that does outdoor sports or takes outdoor vacations.
