This is a very high quality product. I am very glad I waited for the Hero 5 before purchasing my first GoPro. The Hero 5 seems to be a culmination of all of the best aspects of a GoPro. I must admit, it is not the easiest thing to use when you start getting into the advanced settings of the product, but I think that is due to my ignorance to the world of photography. On the other hand, for a product with so many exciting features, it is relatively simple to use and the learning curve is quick, mostly with thanks to the familiarity of the touchscreen. I still use my smart phone camera more often, considering it has a 21 MP camera (Hero 5 is 12 MP) and I carry it with me more often than the GoPro. Although, the Hero 5 has better advanced settings (ISO, shutter speed, etc), more attachable accessories, and it's waterproof!

Solid little action camera. Water resistant so you can take it in the pool etc. You will want to buy an extra battery as it can shoot 1080p 60fps for about an hour or in 4k for half hour. Happy with my purchase and the video quality.

the camera is easy to navigate and has many cool settings, i have it four stars because the battery dies within 30 mins if using 4k

Overall I would rate it 4.25 out of 5. 4k video and overall quality is great. Simple to use. Key features include slow motion and time lapse capabilities along with being waterproof. On the down side the touch screen is small and I have hit the wrong button as a result. Zoom capability would be nice to have but have not seen it other cameras either.

I love this camera! Good video quality! Easy to navigate and there is so many attachments you can use on this go pro it’s crazy ! The o my thing I can really be bummed about is the battery life! But I always have a second battery charging at all times but other then that this action camera is amazing!

I bought this camera for my outdoorsy daughter whom usually uses her cell phone for most things. With all the different attachments you can get for this gopro she now takes it all sorts of places from kayaking, hiking to even putting it on her dogs! It's great that it's waterproof and there's even an app you can put on your phone to remotely control the gopro!!! Awesome camera and video quality is great only complaint I've heard is the battery drains pretty fast when recording videos a lot but that seems like a common issue for high def video recording. The perfect camera for the outdoorsy person in your life!

This is my first GoPro and so far, I have been pleasantly surprised. I will say, if you haven't previously owned a GoPro or if you plan to purchase this one, be sure to get some accessories including a handgrip or gimbal of some sort. My initial video session involved me documenting a trip to New Orleans for St. Patrick's Day. I was holding the camera by hand with no grip and the footage came out pretty shaky. Also, I would advise getting to know the controls on this camera before taking it out for its initial run. I've used it several times since the initial outing in New Orleans to film some track and field events using a separate grip and those videos turned out great. Pros: Great Video quality with up to 4K quality, Underwater capabilities with no extra gear, Small and compact design. Cons: Unsteady video without the addition of a grip or gimbal, You have to use GoPro's interface to move footage to your computer and it can be very time-consuming, One of the access doors was initially very difficult to open and required watching several Youtube videos to verify I was doing it correctly. Overall, after having this camera a little over a month I would say it is worth the money.

so far this camera has been great. the video quality is great and is easy to use. still trying to go through all the features. Would like to see a zoom setting available, would be nice for longer distance shots.

Great camera! Recently purchased it for a family vacation. Easy to use. A lot bang for your buck in a compact, water proof camera. Takes great video! There is an accessory or attachment for it for just about any scenario!

One of the best investments I made for traveling! Already waterproof without a case. The battery life isn't the best so I recommend buying an extra battery and charger. Apart from that the new voice commands features are the best including the time lapse video/photo and the night lapse. One of the main things I like looking for in cameras.

This GoPro comes highly recommended! If you want to save and share some great memories; the recordings and picture quality are outstanding. Small, compact and easy to use! You have to get this GoPro!

First impressions: This review will be updated as I get more of a chance to play with this camera. I received it Oct 15th so still plenty of playing around to do!! Short Review: I have owned GoPro cameras since the Hero 2.. I have recently been introduced to other brands that work just as well but I am loyal to GoPro and had to try out the new hero 5.. I am glad I did because GoPro is now on top of their game again and this is now the best Action Camera I have ever owned!!.. I used to hate all in one designs (Waterproofing being built into the camera) but I actually feel it works very well with this camera and provides much greater protection! No more "Naked" GoPros getting broken! (I have broke a few) While the Hero 5 doesn't really have any major improvements in resolution or shooting specs, the improvements that have been made in design and software actually work well and really make the photo and videos appear much better! The most notable improvements include built in stabilization that works very well and much better audio! Audio is where action cameras have always been lacking, but GoPro has made a huge improvement here. GoPro has also improved their user interface which is a great improvement. Old models took a little while to learn, but not the Hero 5.. I haven't seen an action camera this easy to use ever! So even though GoPro has carried over the same sensor from the Hero 4, this camera is very much worth the improvements.

The GoPro works perfectly on all kinds of adventures. Clear videos. The only downfall is the battery dies pretty quickly

Wonderful use it on motorcycle diving swimming we road across 6 mountains in the philippines and found sites never seen on advertsements. diving wephoto many different fish color size and speed. We have hero 4 but went ahead and got hero5 for better photos

We were on the fence about buying this because, well, it's not cheap! After months of debating and asking numerous questions - we finally purchased one for our vacation. We love it! It's easy to use and shoots great. I love that I can capture all of our memories and it's durable for any event! Whether it's vacations or sports - it's good to use! I love that my kids can operate it as well and I don't have to worry about it breaking. It's small so it's easy to tote around and take places. I love all of the accessories you can buy with it too. Everyone knows GoPro's are just pretty great - they don't need a lengthy review. What honestly sold me is the awesome memories I will have forever now because I spent the extra money to buy this. Thank you!

Bought this camera for my cruise. Wow- so easy to use and carry around. Picture and video quality was great. Needed to purchase an extra battery charger because it seemed to loose charge by end of day. Easy to swap batteries so it was not a problem. The Capture app was awesome- you can control camera remotely through your iPhone!

I've had pretty much every gopro since the original SD model and i have to say this one is the easiest to use yet. I like the one touch settings on it and that you can still use the button on the side to turn it on without starting a recording. The screen on the back is nice and clear and easier to use than the 4 silver. (not that it was bad) Only thing i have mixed feelings on is the fact that it's bigger and heavier than the 4. That's due to getting rid of the waterproof case and making the camera itself waterproof. While that is nice and you don't have to worry about it and it's easier to use without the case. Sometimes it was nice to have the gorpo lighter and more compact. It's a great camera and can't wait to take this on my next trip.

Love the new design. And the waterproof feature. Touch screen interface design has been improved. No need to dig in settings. Everything is simplified compared to the Hero 4 Silver. Image is more stable vs Hero 4 blk.
