I have a DSLR (Canon T3i), but was loathe to take it to it to the beach, pool etc. I decided to take the plunge and get the Hero 5 Black, as it has the linear mode (I am not a fan of that fisheye look). I took my Hero 5 Black to the Cabanna Bay Beach resort at Universal, and did not have to worry about getting my camera wet. I took great shots under the water of the kids, them going down the water slide, splashing around. My next purchase will be the Karma Grip. The only con I would give is the lack of shallow focus to have the subject clear and background out of focus, but I know that going in - I love my Gopro Hero 5 Black.

Easy and simple to use. Great resolution, water proof, electronic stabilization to keep the image from being too shaky. So much bundled in a small package. Highly recommend.

The camera is excellent, extremely easy to use and with a very small size. Both the photo mode and also shooting, the resolution is very good, allowing very clear pictures.

It is our first Go Pro and happy to have it. We have brought it with us to beaches, water parks, mountains, and various travels. Nice to have the adventures with it. The only downside for us is that battery seems to drain easily. We have 2 but that may not be enough.

Would have given a 5 if lens was easier to remove, screen was more responsive to touch, would like zooming feature options in hand, and had more options and settings for taking pictures. The video options are amazing, sound is fantastic, and ease of setup was great.

I absolutely love it, I take it just about everywhere with me. The only downfalls for me are the rapid battery drainage and that their are no zoom capabilities. It's an amazing picture and video quality!

This was my first action camera purchase, and so far I have been very pleased with it. The videos are superb! So far I have mainly used it as drive cam, but plan on using it much more for other things. Depending on the setting, the 64 GB card gives you a lot of storage. For driving, I have it set for 720p and have been getting almost 4hrs of video. The only real downfall that I have seen with this camera,is that the battery life is very limited. It starts to suck battery power very quickly, especially if you are using the backscreen to set things up or view what you are recording. Its even worse when you turn on the WiFi . So that would be one of the star deductions I made. The other star deduction is I have not been able to connect to the GoPro Connect app to remotely use my camera from my phone, which adding to that it sucks the battery dry quickly, you can't even use the feature. And directions on connecting to the app are pretty limited, so its been frustrating at the least.

I had been in the market looking for a camera that I could take with me on adventures. I read online and watched some video reviews on the GoPro Hero 5 and was impressed by it's quality and ease of use. I still had some questions that I needed answers so I went to my local Best Buy. The rep was able to answer all the questions I had and informed me on features I didn't even know were available such as the mobile app. After using the Gopro for over a month I couldn't be happier. It's quick and takes great pictures. Exporting is very easy. No complaints whatsoever. Definitely recommend for anyone in the market.

I owned a Hero 3+ previously and decided to upgrade. The Hero 5 Black is even more user friendly by having voice commands, built in touch screen, 4k capabilities, etc.

This was my first GoPro and was very impressed! Video is smooth and controls are use to use.. Only thing that would make it better would be longer battery life...

This is my first action camera and I have to say I love it. I mainly use it to record my motorcycle adventures and its great. The clarity in the videos is amazing in 1080p I personally don't like the 4k setting as you get more frames in 1080p(full 60). That being said be prepared to spend some more money. As amazing as the GoPro is the power lies in its accessories. Things you should be prepared to buy are extra battery(ies), different mounting attachments, memory card(s), etc. So as amazing as this purchase is be prepared to spend some more money to get maximum use from this action camera.

Beautiful pictures and video. Love how the camera is waterproof without the need of any extra cases. UI is very intuitive and easy to use. Battery life is good.

I love my GoPro hero5 black! I love the fact that is waterproof. I also enjoy using the voice command feature. The quality of the videos and pictures are great.

This camera is amazing! We live in Tennessee. We bought this for our vacation in California. So glad we bought it! It went every where with us. To the beach. (Yes it went in the ocean and pools with us and held up wonderfully.) It went to the zoo with us. And everywhere else. We bought the tripod that goes with it. And also a stick thing to carry it on. Like a selfy stick but not really. Great quality video and stills. Only down side is, is that the battery runs out quickly. While we were there we actually went by their local Best Buy and picked up an extra battery to take along with us.

I find the video quality great & clear. Overall the product felt great and was really easy to use. I would like a bigger battery that last longer then 2hrs.

We love using this when we go out 4wheeling we strap it to part of the bumper or roll bar of our wildcat and record the trails we ride takes really awesome pictures of beautiful colorado landscape...and great video even at high speeds of travel...

Bought this GoPro for a vacation in the Virgin Islands and used it for snorkeling. The 4K video was amazing to see on my 4K tv! Found many other uses as well, time elapsed photos of the sunset and sunrise, used a head strap for a hiking trip, and the floating stick for both snorkeling and the pool. Overall, this camera takes amazing videos and pictures in a compact size that is waterproof out of the box! Happy I purchased it for this trip and many more to come.

Looking for a action camera to get in the game this is the one for you. With the LCD on the back you know what you will be capturing on video and picture. The lightweight waterproof camera is perfect without having to worry about extra housings adding bulk. The bad about this came is the battery doesn't last long. On standby mode I say it lasts about 4 days, if you're recording gonna last a few hours. Get some extra batteries to go if you plan to use it constantly.

I bought this as a dash cam for my truck after I was in an accident that wasn't my fault but am having trouble proving it. No longer will that be an issue. the video quality is amazing. So many resolution, FPS and FOV settings that you can tailor to just about anything you're shooting. Battery does drain a little faster than I'd like, but having it in the truck means I can keep power to it all the time if i want to, just make sure you get the proper USB cable with the proper power amp capacity. All in all it's amazing and can't wait to try it outside the truck as well.

Very small and lightweight, takes excellent video, very nice still shots as well. Battery could last a bit longer but being able to switch them out is nice.
