No zoom or flash. Needs improvement in low light settings. Stabilizer needs improvement could be a little smoother. Audio sounds like an after thought but the quality of picture makes up for that. I recommend buying extra battery and dual charger especially if you are recording for long periods. Great camera to be so small.
You will also need to make sure all your other equipment is compatible to 4K standards for editing. Memory card not included but I will suggest getting a 128gb card or better. Sandisk extreme is my personal choice for speed.

the GoPro Hero5 is one of the best things you can purchase in the market today. Very easy to use, it can be taken underwater while diving (make sure you read the manufacturers recommended depth), video quality is awesome. We went lobster fishing in the Keys and this camera captured every moment in very pristine, and great quality.

The simple fact that this is waterproof without any additional housing is awesome and where gopro should have been years ago. Add to that the built in touch screen and voice controls and the awesome video quality and you have a force to reckon with. Ill be honest, the last gopro I bought, I wasn't too impressed with so I sent it back. I'll be keeping this one. Hands down, hero5 is awesome.

I was a little hesitant to purchase based on some bad reviews. Like flaws in the waterproofing, glitches in software, bad battery life, issues with memory card reading.
Yet I took the plunge 399.99 for the camera & 32gb memory card.
Put it in water up to 4ft still works, but droplets can disrupt the screen sensitivity. I'm just super careful and making sure everything is clean &sealed. Battery drains quickly but as long as the gps, Wi-Fi and voice control are off plus screen saver help extend the life. I also bought few extra batteries.
Learning to use the camera was fun, I like voice command I have found it fairly responsive it has only failed a few times mostly due to distance from Mic.
My main fear is losing it since it is so tiny and doesn't float.
Pros: tiny body, light weight, Wi-Fi, voice command
Cons: expensive, limited battery life, added cost of accessories
I am happy I got it makes a great travel camera.

I recently purchased the GoPro 5 Black basically because my GoPro 4 is now pretty obsolete when it comes to finding anything for at any store other than on Amazon. I can tell a difference between the 4 & 5, quality has gotten better and video is great for the most part. I do a lot of mountain biking and outdoor activities that I like to record. Without a super expensive stabilizer the canes will shake & move on various mounts. I prefer the chest mount so it does move and the audio can be effected. Also for some reason mine from time to time the audio cuts in and out for whatever reason. I did purchase a 2-3 year warranty so I am covered if it keeps it up. The only true downside to the GoPro is the battery life. Just know you might have an hour/hour & a half tops of battery life so pick & choose wisely when you record. One other thing that is annoying is the downloading videos from GoPro to your device(s) it can take some time even for just a 15-30 second clip. I stopped downloading to my iPhone and only to my iPad because it was taking up too much room on my phone. If your an adrenaline junky I highly recommend purchasing a GoPro. $500-$600 is pricey but well worth it if your actually out enjoying taking video and pictures.

This is my first GoPro and I'm satisfied with the features, very slick on my chest strap when I go MTB with my friends, unlike the ones owned by my friends they have a bulky action cam which in my own opinion is not very nice if you put it on your helmet or chest strap. Features like the 4k, GPS, built-in waterproofing and voice control makes it even better! though I have some problems with the battery life during our long rides and the price is a bit expensive knowing that there are other action cam on the market that can compete if not better but with a much lower price, but over all GoPro Hero 5 black is a must for all kinds of adventures and travels especially on MTB!

We bought this before going to Africa and absolutely love it. Cons: Definitely make sure you have more than 1 battery because you only get a couple of hours or recording time. It does let you know when the battery dies but in a loud environment the alarm is easy to miss. It would be great to alert your phone that the battery is going to die.
Pros: Great quality pictures and video. We used it on safari and at Victoria falls and the sand, rain and water were not a problem! Love the integration with my phone which makes aiming it so much easier. Easy to use, easy to set up, and pretty intuitive UI.

My quick review!
The love:
Beautiful video quality.
It's waterproof w/o the need for an extra case.
Voice Control: tho not perfect, Good to start up the camera using GoPro commands when your hands are tied up.
Connects to IOS (iPhone 6) using GoPro App.
The hate:
Battery don't last. Up to 2.5 hours when actively using.
I bought third party batteries (Wasabi Power). Worked fine until the update. Now it doesn't work anymore. :(
Not so good in low/dark lighting. Loses it sharpness in low lighting.
Does have its hiccups, but what doesn't?
Retail at $399
Great little camera to take on vacation.

My old GoPro Hero3 battery was not charging, no batteries available so I got the GoPro Hero5. I'm glad I did. I use it for bowhunting. With the GoPro on the left side of my head the back viewing of the picture made it easy for my hunting partner to adjust the GoPro angle so that the camera was capturing the perfect view of what I was seeing. Using the top record button to start and stop was much easier Picture was amazing. It was nice that there were different field of view options. I would not hesitate to get another one.

I decided to pick up this camera for my own vacation after seeing a family member with videos from a vacation. The Hero 5 is a fantastic camera that takes very crisp videos and pictures. Integration with the smartphone app is outstanding, but a little bit buggy at times. You can use your smartphone to control the camera, so selfies are a piece of cake! It also integrates well with data transfer to the phone so that you can instantly edit you photos and videos on your phone. I also found the voice control features to be awesome! I can say "GoPro take a picture", "GoPro take a video", "GoPro, turn off" and it works great!
I recommend getting extra batteries and extra memory cards because it is easy to burn through both in a short amount of time. Great camera for a great price... I got it during a sale of $50 off retail price.
Don't forget to check online deals that you might not find in the store... for example, Best Buy online was running a deal for a free 32GB memory card when you purchase a GoPro, but that sale wasn't on the shelves. Just ask an associate to match the Best Buy website deal and they will do it!

Great camera if you enjoy doing a lot of active entertainment. Love the fact that it’s water proof. Bought a floating handle for the camera and just let it drift in the pool while it took videos of my friends and I playing volleyball or just acting crazy in the pool. It provided great memories of our vacation together. I would also recommend buying some of the accessories and mounts, especially one for the car and one to strap in the your head like a helmet or a chest strap.

This is my 4th GoPro and I enjoy it so much. The reason it only got 4 stars is because the touch screen sometimes is non-responsive when it is in the frame. I had to open it and slide down to get to the preferences. The voice control is working smoothly but not when you have the uber suit.I bought it because I noticed it got some scratches already without the case, I had to use the remo though when it is in the uber suit because the voice control doesnt work well when its in it.. Overall, this is far by the best gopro. I can use it for half a day with one battery and if you record continuously with 1080 video setting, it should last for 2 hours more or less. I had to buy extra batteries although it is so much from the predecessors. I also use it as a dash cam.

Heavyweight Contender or Overpriced Champion?

PROS:
-I loved the video quality (4k but still needs faster refresh)
-The camera seems well-built and insulated to be more rugged than many competitors
-The size (dimensions) is not too big or too small (Goldilocks size)
-There are lots of options for how to use this camera (versatility) due to a host of settings and config options
CONS:
-It is relatively heavy for such a small device
-Getting the built-in camera cage/mount off the camera itself is quite difficult
-I mostly hated the head rig accessory kit for this camera
-I disliked the need to purchase a bunch of one-off kits to accessorize this camera for a slew of life scenarios (can't design a universal-style mount already??)
-Battery life sucks if taking to a long show or trip without extra batteries or plug-in/outlets to recharge (continuous 4k video killed mine in easily under an hour)
-Some venues (if using for a concert/show) treat GoPro cameras differently than cell phone cameras/video devices and will not allow you to use at events (e.g. Wrigley Field in Chicago)
-The price could be better, especially considering all the accessories are standalone purchase items (i.e. dash mounts, body mounts, head clips, etc.)
-The interface could be more intuitive. It took forever to figure out how to change styles easily and quickly, which is still a pain and could be designed better as well
Conclusion: the GoPro HERO 5 is certainly and undeniably a heavyweight contender in the HD video cam market but for the price, it could put on a better show with more bells and whistles that are pragmatic and user-friendly. I returned in hopes for a price drop or increased functionality at some point, at which point I then may buy again.
NOTE: I would not recommend to a friend in all cases but in some cases, I would with caveats and caution.

My boyfriend is a huge go pro fan, so I knew we would be purchasing! Thank goodness it lives up to his expectations! Haha. It shoots 4k and the digital touch screen makes it super easy to use! The waterproof capabilities allow him to capture super awesome videos! It's pm easy to use that he actually trust me to use it!

I will admit I did not want to spend the money on a camera I thought i would use for only a few occasion. Now I take this with me everywhere looking for an opportunity to shoot some footage. I had previously tried 2 other "under $100" action cameras that were garbage.
After viewing the first footage shot with my GoPro I am hooked! The videos are stunning. I used this on a very bumpy speed boat ride The video came out very smooth without shake- this has an amazing stabilizer and is built for action. I was concerned about how well still photo would be. Besides a photo mode, The Gopro software actually allows me to snag single frame shots from any video I shoot which is a huge plus. The photos are just as stunning as the video
Super easy to use with tons of youtube videos to teach you how to do more advance things. voice activated commands are very responsive. Straight out of the box you are ready to start shooting. Built to take abuse I have no worries to take this on my outdoor adventures.
