I had a horrible experience with my GoPro. Within one week of owning it, and my first time using it, the product as well as the mounts had completely failed to perform at any acceptable level. I put the GoPro surfboard mount on my board 48 hours before I entered the water. I attached the leash properly, put on the backdoor and floaty, and was very excited to get in the water. About 20 minutes in, I was going over a very small wave, and the mount ripped off of the board. The only thing that we could find in the water was the floaty seen in the picture - the mount, leash, and backdoor had completely fallen off. I was absolutely astonished at how finicky the mounts were. All in with mounts, etc. there goes $500+ dollars down the drain. Beyond upset about this experience and wouldn't recommend any of their products to anyone.

I have tested it a few times.. produced some sweet smooth video. The anti shake is worth buying this product over. The limitation is trully the ISO. it is the equivalent of a Nikon D2X of 2005. You can bump it to ISO 800 maximum. anything above produces too much noise. I have tested it only a few times and it has locked up on me several times even with the new software update. This review is incomplete as I have only had it for a week or so. I attached it to my cars window glass outside and took if for a spin on the freeway at 2k and 120 frames per second. I also took it on the bumpy streets and its buttery smooth. That is by far its strongest point. I am yet to shove it in the water in a sandy place and see if Sand gets lodged in those tiny orifices for the internal microphones. Battery life is short, about 1.5 hours on a full charge and new battery. So have spare ones around. Mistakes happen and you will need back up batteries or a power bank to replenish the battery on installed. If the camera is installed out of your reach you run the risk of depleteing the battery while driving and not being able to acces it. It happened to me yesterday. I got stuck in slow moving traffic and I could not reach out nor stop to turn it off...I am reading about the remote and it for what I see its not 100 percent compatible with this go pro.. something having to do with start and stop recording. again this review is incomplete. so far I love the little camera but dont expect Nikon D5 Iso quality.

so i will try to make this review short. ive got this camera like a month after it was released and oh man i was pleasantly surprised with the improvement over my trusty hero 4 black. all the specs you can find out there so theres no need for me to talk about it and try to make me look very knowledgeable expert or something. i was excited about this awesome camera because finally, 4k 60 fps in such a compact tiny but yet durable body camera! hold on wait.. i know all of you camera expert would say "there was already the very first action camera that able to shoot in 4k 60fps duuhh" which is yes i know, yi 4k plus but the reason why i waited for gopro was because i have hero 3 black then 4 black too so i wanted to stick with gopro not to mention all the gopro accesories that i have so no please dont call me a fan boy because iam not a fan of any brand, i repeat not a single one because i believe in quality over name brand or something like that. the stabilization on this camera is almost like using a real steadycam or gimbal! eventhough it crop your footage more than 12 percent but ohh man.. i was amazed! but unfortunatelly it will not work when you shoot in higher frame rate such as 4k 60fps while my iphone 8plus can do it (common gopro?!) for anyone who have hero 4 black or older generation gopros and wanting to upgrade to hero 6, it is worth the money. i know 500usd (399 now!) is still alot of money, but if you think of this way, a small and powerfull camera (even better than the older gopros) that can be placed almost anywhere, take everywhere and fit in your pocket? you will not find any better solution than this unless you really need the better low light performance action cam you might wanna look into sony latest little action cam that has the rx100 sensor on it. but if you already have the hero 5, it comes down to your need, do you really need the 4k 60 fps or 1080 at 240 fps? if yes well then sell the hero 5 and get the hero 6, or just keep the hero 5 for backup just saying because once again i say it is worth the investment if you shoot alot of video of anything or if you are a content creator. this little cam is very satisfying despites of minor issues that it has. go on youtube and look it up if you still cant decide. i have some video that shot using it my channel name is denny ordinary.

Absolutely in love with this camera. This was my first GoPro and although it was expensive, I’m thrilled with how easy it is to toggle the settings on the camera. I really didn’t know much about camera settings and what would be good for certain situations, however the camera explains everything you need to know on the right in the display. Within 20 minutes out of the box I was already shooting 4K footage like a pro. The camera syncs easily to my iPhone 6s and also with my MacBook Pro. Only reason why I don’t give this five stars is because of the following: 1- battery life 2- audio recording 3- price Picture quality is the best I’ve ever seen! If you can get past the three bullets listed above this is the camera for you! The stabilization feature is unreal!

I have every GoPro since inception, this is by far the best HERO yet! Exceptional video quality and drastic low light video improvement. Ease of use has improved and refined. Battery life could be improved with Battery Bac Pac like was offered on the HERO 2,3,4 but not adaptable with the HERO 5 & 6.

Great image quality and amazing video. Terrific that camera is now waterproof and you don’t need to carry around a protective case. This replaced an older GoPro4 camera I had which had issues with staying powered on. So far this unit has worked out better.

Recently purchased the Hero 5 Black after going on vacation to Costa Rica and wishing I had one for all the fun water and adventure activities we were doing. I love the size and durability. Had this out over the Christmas holidays with a very active 18 month old and it survived her drool as well as a few drops.Video quality is great and I like the option of shooting linear FOV. Only drawback is the inability to zoom while shooting video - you can set a zoom before you hit record but cannot zoom while shooting. Another con is the battery. It may just be that I have a bad battery but it does not hold much of a charge. Running video for a full hour drains it so highly recommend purchasing a spare battery with an external charger.

an awesome little camera. great videos. the gopro app is nice but transferring from the camera to my phone via bluetooth/wifi takes for.ev.er. Transferring to pc via a card reader is much better and faster. There are more functions and options on this thing than I will ever master. fwiw, the best buy associate that helped me with my purchase also directed me to a 64g microsd card and told me that was the largest size supported by the gopro6. the user manual says the camera will support a 256g card. the gopro site has a "workswith.gopro.com" page that list verified compatibility. That page says 128g card is verified but the gopro6 is not listed. I have purchased a 256g card but haven't received it yet so cant verify that it will work. Will try to update review after I get it.

I have been waiting on the action camera for just this camera. The ability to do 4K 60 was the ticket for me. Of course the videos are memory hogs. After purchasing it I took the camera on a 8 day trip to Hawaii and tested it on the both the water and land. I only have two complaints as follows: 1) Battery life is poor. 2) Unit runs hot when in use or when charging. Overall the pictures and video were good for an action camera. I think GoPro now needs to take a page out of Tesla's manual and work on battery life and function. This battery runs just too hot and too short.

Overall great camera, I had some issues with the software such as the camera freezing for no reason, the camera not turning off, and the battery draining very quickly. I've exchanged the camera, and so far so good.

Excellent video quality and it's easy to use. One downfall is battery doesn't last too long. But I would buy again in a heartbeat.

Why are you waiting to buy a gopro? Its amaxing its tough touch screen water proof 4k 60fps !!!

When my Nikon D70 broke down, I was looking for a replacement camera that could do 4k videos. I found this one at a 1/3 of the cost of the D7500. It is cery compact and lightweight. Their are no instruction manuals on how to operate it. This is the only reason why I would give it 4 stars. You will need to go online and download the app. Overall i am getting to like it. The videos are just as good as any 4 k action cameras out there. I like the fact that I wont need to pack another bag for this camera like I did with the Nikon. No bulky flash and and extra battery as well. I m looking forward to taking this with me on the plane.

The stabilization is much improved on the Hero 6 in comparison to the Hero 5, especially when shooting 4K. 4K 60 FPS does not have stabilization and you will need a gimbal before it looks as smooth as 30 FPS. This seems to have much better color accuracy too. Battery life for me has been weaker on the 6 than the 5, but I do carry extra batteries and I am sure this will get better with software updates. WiFi transfer speeds are much better on the 6 due to 5 GHZ WiFi capabilities.

We bought this for our trip to Bora Bora and it took awesome pictures. The underwater photos and videos look like a documentary you would see on tv. We taped in 1080 since we don’t currently have a 4K device to watch them. They are very high quality. Easy to use even for me and I’m not very technological. Love the voice command as well. Really great product and highly recommend.

I got tired of using my smart phone to capture video and I purchased this camera and the comparison is big, well the image quality between todays smart phones and this GoPro is not that big but in terms of usability and the ways that you can utilize your GoPro is huge. The 4K video and 1080p resolution are very sharp. It has touch control LCD display or you can use the voice control feature instead. With its 12 MP you can capture great photos too, hold the shutter button down for burst shooting up to 30 frames per second. Electronic image stabilization is the best it minimizes shake and vibration distortion to keep footage steady. The microphones are good as well as wind noise reduction. Tough and water-resistant. I do not miss recording with my smart phone.
