Positives: Small, Durable, Versatile, Water-Proof, Easy to use adjustable settings. Video stabilization is awesome. Negatives: File sizes are insanely huge, take up lots of memory fast and no good way to really tone it down. Go-Pro Color is completely off, over-saturated, and unnatural to reality. One can however turn that off providing some improvement. Quite a bit of digital distortion/fragmenting around moving subjects. Does not come with a plug in charger for the wall or much else for that matter. Still images lack detail zooming in and are about the equivalent of a cheap smartphone. No built in stereo mic? Less expensive Sony cameras had that 10 years ago along with other features this does not have. Final Conclusions: Great for what it's built for (Durability/Action shots but certainly could use some improvements on some things less expensive cameras from other brands were already doing 10+ years ago. Decent enough little camera but I feel just a tad over-rated. AVCHD Sony video from 10 years ago has better color, less fragmenting, overall more pleasant and natural looking to watch. Simply having higher video resolution isn't everything when it comes to overall video quality. Certainly beats what I've previously owned when it comes to image stability though.

The problem they still have is that they still overheat super easy. Another problem that they have is if you want to run an external mic, you have to buy a bulky adapter, which I hate. GoPro needs to re think that adaptor accessory or even eliminar it and just have a 3.5MM hole for the mic to connect directly. In the other hand the video quality is good as long as you don’t put it in hot temperatures . Also the night Quality picture is better as well as the previous models.

Have had for a month and am very happy with overall quality of camera and ease of use. Sync's well with app on my Samsung Galaxy note 9 over Bluetooth however is a little slower than I would like. Have had problems with compatibility with camera & GoPro Quick app for PC and Windows 10. Also with saving and sharing from storyboard on GoPro Quick to PC. Seems to be solutions for this offered on YouTube. Still learning and do recommend!! And a had a flawless experience with Best Buy.

One of the best small-sized 4k Action cameras - GoPro. It always exceeds the limits of my expectations. I've bought for this one my parasailing trip, the first time shoot itself quite interesting and very satisfied with this product. It does not come with all accessories, I've bought them separately on amazon. Must try product for outside activities.

I purchased this camera for a upcoming trip to Hawaii and wanted a camera that I could use while enjoying various water related activities. I do a lot of research in my occupation and when looking for electronic I do my do diligence as well, especially when plunking down $400. The features are awesome! Love the hyper smooth used it at Disneyland looks great! The time warp was really cool as I filmed our entire trip from the entrance gates to the Galaxy Edge. The app for your phone is really nice it allows you to take pictures or videos without having to touch the camera and it’s easy to use. The only downside is you have to buy accessories the camera is really small and personally if I’m paying $400 I don’t want to take a chance on dropping it while swimming. So make sure you have the accessories you need and you will be good to go!

The GP Hero 8 is a great little camera and most of the issues that I've had with it are when I try to use it in a scenario or setting that really tests it's limits for video quality - not durability. Do not try to shoot with this cam in low light or when your desired focal point is just on the edge of the minmal focus distance. Do not keep your iso min and max too low - even in bright daylight you'll loose your shadow detail and add tons of grain trying to get it back in post. Do not think Protune is, well, anything like log or anywhere near flat - it is my default because normal shooting is far too saturated, but in every project that I've included go pro footage in with other cameras, the go pro shots always have to desaturated further to get them anywhere near the look of the other cameras. Side note, this is something I really want GP to address in future versions, they need a truely flat profile with decent dynamic range - if I can match dji mavic 2 pro footage with higher end cameras like the Alexa, I should be able to match GP's and it's always a pain. Bottom line, a great cam for a lot a situations, good-great for general outdoors with the right settings, decent in bright light, but great when properly corrected - I bought a magnetic ND filter adapter and set for mine that works flawlessly - And in general, a nice piece to have in your kit just for the freedom of attaching it just about anywhere. You can get some really unique angles and content from the H8 once you've come around to the mindset that it's really a just a glorified crash cam, all you can do is be smart, hope for the best, and go crazy with it :)

The camera itself is amazing! Took it on a ski trip this winter and the quality is perfect. The battery that comes with the camera is not great. Had the battery charging overnight, but the camera only turned on for five minutes the next day. I highly recommend getting a second battery. I also love how the camera connects directly to my phone and I can instantly download pictures and videos!

Nice Camera quality and cool features at a reasonable price. Extra accessories can start making it a little pricy and some of the direct connection software ( Webcam ) is getting better with Beta updates but kind of frustrating that I'm still waiting for software fixes to fully use the Go Pro 8 ( Webcam Audio & streaming direct connection ) and the new Go Pro 9 is out for only $50 more then I spent on the 8.

The image quality from this camera is a real step up from prior generations. I'd say it's weak point is battery life, which is on par with prior generations, but substantially down in comparison to the Hero 9. I recently used both cameras simultaneously and the Hero 9 was able to record nearly twice as long as the Hero 8 in the same conditions.

This is definitely the best actioncam ever!. I love how you are aloud to pre program all the video settings with all the cinematic look, super smooth slowmotion and the stability is insane, I’m very impressive because and don’t have to be worry to use any gimbal or stabilizer at all!. Also the quality of the photos are a little bit better than the gopro7, so completely satisfied!

Picture quality is great. Sound is great. Unit gets REALLY hot and has shut down a couple of times and I've had to remove the battery and memory card to "reset" it. No clue why. Might be some kind of user error but that's a stretch considering it essentially has one button, lol. Assuming it's my fault at this point so... 4/5 stars.
