These have great image quality until you attempt to do night timelapses. They are known to be plagued with hot pixels in low light settings and mine suffers from this as well.
Other than this it takes great video in normal lighting.

This is honestly the best investment I’ve made on a camera by far. The pictures and videos are so vivid. I love this camera my husband was upset until he saw the quality of the picture and videos and the fact that it’s waterproof bonus. The kids can be in the pool and I can record them under water or out without worrying about the camera:)

Always wanted to buy GoPro for some recreational activities for myself, but ended up buying for my kids. We went skiing recently and we used on ski helmets. Excellent quality of video, easy to mount and manage the shooting modes. The greatest part is a voice controlled recording, would definitely recommend this camera

I really like this camera! It's an amazing action camera that is perfect for what I do outdoors! But my only complaint is the battery life, but what can you expect from such a small high quality camera that can record at amazing video quality! Usually the battery will last up to 66mins at 2k resolution but its best to carry extra batteries.

Love our GoPro. From fun family videos and stills to underwater dive trips. This little baby is awesome. Don't let the little window fool you. Once you download the videos, the quality is amazing. I love the editing and stabilization capabilities. YouTube recommended settings for your situation and enjoy!

This camera is surprisingly smaller than I thought! Setup was easy and the image quality is amazing. The extra accessories def come in handy. The only con I have with this camera is that it gets hot after recorded on a ride. Hopefully this will not cause problems in the future.

I love this camera. The quality this small camera can produce is amazing and I highly recommend it. I use this camera daily and you’d probably have to bring a power bank every now and then but still, this is a superior camera and you can probably also use it for vlogging.

Bought it for my upcoming trip to Hawaii, couldn’t be more happy with it!! Picture and video quality is surprisingly good. Very easy to manage media on your phone, links right up no hassle. I don’t know the difference between this one and the hero 9 but I am more than happy with this one.

I know this is an older model of the GoPro, but it still takes great videos and pictures. Image quality is amazing and very nice stabilization. If you can get it at a nice price, I would recommend it.

Looks like there's a new update with great super video quality in 4k! & more improvements as well!
This might sound crazy but I'm using this camera mainly in 1080p because of my computer lol..but will record in 4k eventually (I noticed the 1080p is way better than my old cams!!!) Coming from a Sony action cam as30 (use it for fishing and still do) so this is a huge upgrade. My buddies have the Sony action cam 300/3000 which I wanted until I noticed they came out with the GoPro hero 8!! If you're not sure what to get as far as action cams(I knows there's the Osmo etc) you need to compare the settings, not quality, with the new update and all the things you can do as far as adjusting quality, fps, view, colours, sharpness etc..nothing compares to this Gopro anymore as far as action cams go. I've heard a small % of people are having heating issues so I will update if I have any, but so far everyone I know that has this hasn't had any issues recording in 4k. There are a lot of fake bad & good reviews out there, so do a lot of research before buying anything.. and THEN decided for yourself.
Will update if I have any issues in the future!!

I liked the camera a lot, I love the ability to select lens sizes and all the frame rate options. I would recommend getting a good set of ND and or Polarizing filters, they make the image look great. The only con so far is that it heats ups pretty good, it hasn't stopped recording because of it but I do open up the battery door to let it cool down.

I have a hero 3 and wanted a upgrade last month I did it and I was worth the extra going to the 8 instead of the 7. It takes great under water pics (pool) dont need the big waterproof case like the last unless you want to only thing i dont like is when you go to high the side door pops off but easy to go on

Very clear, and superb stabilization. I do like voice control - you can start & stop recording without taking your hands off the handlebars if mountain biking, for example. One nitpick is the menu navigation—it’s a hit fiddly, but Inprobably just need more time & familiarity.

My GoPro 5 was constantly freezing when I would try to use quick capture feature. Luckily I still had my protection plan so I returned it thinking I would receive the same camera, nope! Ended up receiving an 8 to replace and man is it an upgrade. The hyper smooth works perfectly when chasing my 4 yr old around and when he decides he wants to hold it and record things. The video quality seems way above and beyond the 5 even though they seem to have pretty much the same resolutions and FPSs. Videos seem to come out way clearer on the 8. Only thing I’ve noticed that is strange is when recording on grass, the grass seems to be moving in all my videos. Looks like noise. Tried messing with a lot of the settings and can’t figure out how to get rid of it. Used it on the Fourth and got really great fireworks shots. I like the integrated flip up arms that allow you to connect it to mount accessories. Haven’t had it for a month yet but I love this camera already. Got it on sale for $100 off so couldn't beat the price.

I took it back for a couple reasons. It was hot when used and charging. I prefer the old style collar, instead of the drop down clamps. Appreciated a lot of the best features of the 7 Black, better.
I am a newby, and probably appreciated the price more than anything else. Only tried the 8, also.

Good deal for the price, but not great for long road trips. The battery lasts about 2 hours so we had to buy a couple back up batteries. Also, it overheated several times in about 10 minutes when the temperature was mid-sixties. There may be a protective case to solve the heat issue, not sure yet.

Well as my 2nd GoPro Hero8, I got reconfirmation of preferring this to the Hero 9...
Why?
- it still works well without being buggy
- hasn't overheated on me
- since it's cheaper then a Hero9, it gives me this sense of wanting to use it to get those action shots (I look at a Hero9 as a vlogging camera first/action camera second.
- touch controls aren't laggy at all and are precise
- video/hyperlapse/picture formats and settings are still very relevant and maybe too much for most people to use.
I don't really have anything bad to say about this camera. It does require the batteries with the blue bottoms to get the most out of this camera if you need to use it in it's highest performance settings but it's not a big deal.
I definitely recommend getting this camera in a bundle if you can. If not, you'd still be getting s good deal as this camera is quite versatile.
