The video quality is great and the app makes it really easy to get the videos to your phone to edit and post. However, the camera gets really really hot while recording so hot that it will sometimes overheat and shut off. Just while regularly recording sitting in the middle of my living room. The battery life is also pretty terrible and my battery had to be replaced within the first month of getting the GoPro.

The GoPro Hero8 is simply fantastic! It captures stunning footage with incredible clarity and vibrant colors. The HyperSmooth 2.0 stabilization keeps videos smooth even in the most intense action. The TimeWarp 2.0 mode adds a creative touch to my videos. Its rugged design and waterproof capabilities make it perfect for outdoor adventures. The only downside is the battery life, but overall, it's an excellent action camera that delivers amazing results.

I've have been using this camera for about a year now and I've been overall pleased with the quality of video it captures. Often I shoot in dim/low light situations and I'm impressed with the camera's performance. In bright daylight it also excels with picture quality. I'm mostly shooting in 1080p 60fps and wide format which works well for action shots. The only setback and the reason I would hesitate to purchase again is the lack of 3rd party acessories for this camera. For some reason, mods are available for Hero 5/6/7 and 9/10/11/12 but for the Hero 8 there's practically nothing out there. I didn't realize it at the time that this would be an issue, but I regret not spending a little more and getting the Hero 9. I do like the feauture that this camera will accept a 1Tb TF card since none of my other digital devices would recognize it (and it was a great price so I really wanted to use it). If for some reason you have your heart (and budget) set on buying the 8, it's worth the purchase; but if you and your wallet can accomodate a 9/10/11/12, I recommend that route.

The GoPro hero 8 Black gives you everythjng you need in small camera. It produces high quality video and is super easy to use. If youre using the hero 8 outside the battery life is about an hour and a half non-stop.

the go pro 8 is the best you can by if you trying to save money. it has so many options and choices for taking any video or picture. love the hyper stabilization. and an extra bonus it’s fully waterproof!!

Highly recommend this GoPro Hero8 Black 4K camera. This was my first venture with GoPro. Traveled to England and Scotland on vacation and took a combined 400 photos and videos. The stabilization is unbelievable. My videos looked like they were shot from a drone. No overheating problems on this model.

Even though I dont need the Hero 8 since I have the Hero 11, I just coulndt pass up on the sale price for this cam. The Hero 8 cam is a great cam, but the only downside of this model is that you cannot replace the lens. There are YT videos where you can replace it, but there's no "official" fix for it. Because this, I have to knock it by one star. If you're looking to get into the GoPro cam world, at $199.99, this would be a great entry point.

Bought this for my daughter to take on her first SCUBA dive. Excellent video quality and easy operation. Went down to 40' with no issues.

For all the quirks of a GoPro, I just couldn't resist getting a second one to help me record my swim kids and their stroke techniques. The biggest problem I always have is the heat. I don't know if it's the camera or the batteries. Once it heats up, it turns off without warning. And if you are going to do underwater capture, it's best to use a case. Once the battery swells, it isn't waterproof. I've already ruined one doing that. The second time, I just let it dry out and it started working again. Keep extra batteries handy. You can swap them and it will start working again. I went with Sony action cam as an alternative, but the GoPro accessories can't be beat. Catching this on sale for $199 makes it a great item for an action camera. I don't feel like I'm missing out on anything from the newer generations.

Battery life? Horrible Recharge? Slow Reliable? VERY glitchy! Photo Quality? AWESOME! Video Quality? AWESOME! Under water footage? AMAZING! Bought this for a trip our family took and for the older kids to use. They loved the creativity they came up with in using time laps and under water shots! Bought when the price was ridiculously low, not worth the full retail or minimal discount (would have returned it otherwise).

I’ve been using my GoPro Hero Black 4K waterproof action camera since January 2023, and it’s been incredible. The 4K video is super clear, the stabilization is smooth, and it’s tough enough for any adventure. I’ve taken it hiking, swimming, and on trips. Easily one of my best buys! Also, works great recording tiktok videos.

Compared to the newer versions, this it's still a very good camera. The main difference will be, the mega pixels, battery life and the stabilization. I switched to the Hero9 because of it.

Great video and stabilization. Have used it Whitewater rafting, mountain biking, and attached to my dog for a dogs eye view. Only complaint is by a protective cover for the screen. Dropped once and it cracked the screen. The GoPro subscription is good to get as it offers you the ability to replace your camera for a fee with no questions asked.

There is a disagreement among GoPro and users of this model as to whether it can show live view on the Quik app while recording and I have been successful doing this except at the highest picture quality 4k 60 frames per second -- 30 frames per second even works as does all others like the HD settings.

Decent action cam but the app always gives issues and the battery life for these honestly could be better and the cameras constantly overheats!

Bought for my husband for his birthday. Video quality is great! Battery life could be longer. I think it lasts about an hour or so.

I purchased this for my boyfriend and he loves it. The battery isn’t the greatest but I think it was operator error. He rides dirt bike so it gets pretty dirty and it’s held up great! The image, video, and sound quality is excellent

It’s good picture and video quality. Tho it overheats a little too fast. Only after 15 minutes of usage.

I use if for recreational purposes. Love the quality and sound on it.
