this is our new vlogging camera and we love it so far! Especially since it’s waterproof! Having two kids you just never know! It’s so small, really good quality, the mini tripod that it comes with is nice.. comes with 2 batteries!! everything! OnlY bad thing is the camera itself gets hot quickly.

Amazing purchase! The stability is incredible in the camera. The GoPro hero 8 black has really good color range. It also has great color if you don’t like to edit. I’ve taken it snowboarding, snorkeling, scuba diving (with strong suit case), hiking (through forests, mountains, volcano, waterfalls) and have been able to capture some amazing footage.
It’s very easy to use, the camera has options for preset settings for any of your adventures. The GoPro app lets you quickly make videos on the go.
I’m my opinion the GoPro hero 8 black has better colors straight out of the camera compared to dji products.

This is my first GoPro amd I'm absolutely blown away. The video quality is crazy good. The Hypersmooth stabilization is insane! Battery life is so so but batteries are inexpensive so I just purchased a couple extra so I have hours of battery life on me at all times. I'm going to be using my 8 mainly for hunting and because of the incredible stabilization I can mount it to my bow or gun unlike other cameras out there. I'm really excited to use it more.

The camera is easy to use and easily to set up. We bought it to video baseball games and basketball games and video comes out clear. I like the option to control through my phone so I can stop and start as needed. The battery is ok but I bought a couple extra batteries with a charger so that I could video for a long time. The battery does get hot but have no issues with recording. I would definitely use it for a long time I have not bought the go pro cloud but I am thinking that is not a bad option.

Great picture

This go pro has served us well. The picture is fantastic, the pole and headset it cane with are so cool. My son wears this my whiling on our trampoline sometimes and the picture is not wobbly, it’s like it’s filming from his perspective. We tried the cheapy 4K knockoffs and this blows them out of the water. It is worth the price 10 times over.
2 cons are the battery life and storage card it comes with. The battery runs out pretty quickly and the storage card it comes with doesn’t hold much footage. These were easily solved by buying a go pro multi charger on amazon that cost about $35 and came with an extra battery (the original go pro package from bestbuy comes with 2, so now we have 3) and we bought a larger storage card for about $30 also.
We love this camera package and was SO worth the price. My husband and I have iPhone 11 Pro Max phones and the video quality is outstanding, but the picture giggles if your hand shakes or your moving. The picture on the go pro hero 8 never shakes and the picture quality is just as good as our iPhones.
This is a must buy if you enjoy being active, or simply want to take films of your family that are great quality

The Hero 8 Black is an Excellent Upgrade but Make

I bought the Hero 8 Black back in October when it first came out and have used it a lot since then. I even bought a second so I have two. I love several of the major improvements that GoPro made on this camera. Here are the features I view as the best reason to upgrade:
1. HyperSmooth 2.0. Yes, it really is that good! Especially with the option to use "Boost" as well.
2. The bitrate can now be set to 100mbps. This equates to higher quality footage with a lot more detail and clarity. I found the difference to be quite noticeable.
3. The colors and low-light performance are better. I can shoot in lower lighting situations without needing to bump up the ISO too much and the footage looks great without getting too grainy as a result.
4. Linear mode. The option to use linear mode is now available in more modes, including 4K at several different frame rates. I like linear mode, especially for vlogging purposes or talking to the camera. It helps prevent the fish-eye distortion of the wide or superwide modes. You can even have HyperSmooth 2.0 and Boost on while shooting linear in several 4K modes such as 30fps and 24fps. Sadly, you cannot do linear at 4K60fps with HyperSmooth 2.0 turned on...yet. Perhaps GoPro will add this with the next firmware upgrade.
Speaking of firmware upgrade. MAKE SURE YOU DO IT! The GoPro Hero 8 Black I received shipped with the original firmware and not the latest firmware update. The newest firmware came out the day the camera was released. It adds tons of new settings and features and also fixes a few of the bugs that had already been found. Without it, you'll be missing out on the very best this camera has to offer. I found a great tutorial for this process on a YouTube Channel by the name of "Hiking Mama." The video title is: "HOW TO Update FIRMWARE on the GOPRO HERO 8 BLACK | The BEST METHOD." I found this video to be straightforward and helpful on the steps of the process for doing this.
One con of the Hero 8 Black: The lens on the Hero 8 Black is not removable and replaceable in the event of it getting scratched or damaged. However, I don't consider this a major issue and certainly not a deal breaker. I've used several GoPros in several high-action situations such as hiking, trail running, snow sports, and attached it to a car with the mount and I have never, ever scratched or broken the lens on the camera, so far (knock on wood). GoPro has also stated the Hero 8 Black lens is made of a stronger material and they even sell a lens cover for those who want one.
Overall, I highly recommend this camera. It's a big upgrade and the new features are significant upgrades from the Hero 7 Black.

This is my second GoPro, the first being the GPH5B-I bought this because I loved that hypersmooth 2.0 really is what it says it is. Especially when compared to the GPH5B. I do think that it's really great in short burst for 4K60fps video, but much longer than 10 minutes and you really start to get really hot. I've heard comments about using bad or slow cards and that simply isn't the case here. I'm running UHS-II cards, that are able to do 250Mbps - the card is not cheap!
Picture quality is much better than previous generations, but it's still lacking in my opinion.
I use this to record my sons baseball games and it's hard to keep this going in 80-95 degree weather longer than 20min shots....let along an entire game, where at anytime your son is up to bat and it's shutdown to cool down.
Battery life is also lacking in my opinion. Yes, it will go roughly an hour, but that's just not long enough...so an extra battery is required. I also use a battery bank and I can definitely make due with this option, but again, if it gets too hot, it's not doing what I need it to.
If you are moving, such as in winter sports (snowmobiling in my case), kayaking in water, or even riding your bike, there is generally enough air movement to keep this cool and running just fine. But not in any other application I've used it for.
Aside from these issues, I think this is a great action camera, just take note of what you are actually going to use it for...

GoPro - it lives upto its name. Ive been using gopros for over 2 years now. i had hero 7 black and hero 8 black. Hero 8 black is built in the same line of hero 7 with few upgrades to stabilization and timewrap etc. If you are trying to get a gopro for the first time then i would recommend hero 8. if you are planning to upgrade from hero 7 then better go for hero 9, try extending you budget and its worth the price

Purchased this to use on my motorcycle and when I travel. So far it has been really amazing shooting videos of my son. I like the additional accessories that came with it. The head piece and the tripod work perfectly. The battery is kinda of low on them, I didn’t realize battery life is only 50 minutes or less. But as long as you carry extra battery or a chargeable pack, you should be ok.

This little HERO8 is a super cool little camera. It takes great video. Even performed well in extremely low light with just an led flashlight for lighting. The audio is clear and crisp. It is easy to use and has GoPro offers good support. It is easy to grab and go, not bulky, easy to store in a bag. Really enjoy using this camera.

Got this to live stream my church service during this COVID-19 quarantine. Works great! Easy set up! Make sure you have a fast WiFi connection and you can stream HD video straight to Facebook Live. It will run without a battery while plugged in to charge which allows streaming for longer than the hour or so that the battery lasts! Definitely a great buy!

I'm not a 20-something... my KIDS are 20-somethings! But I got a motorcycle and wanted to capture some of my rides... will expand to other adventures as soon as I discover them. My only complaint is... how to use it! Swipe this way... swipe that way... tiny icons... but I've finally discovered that when it's off, you can press the record button and it will turn on and start recording. Phew! That's all I need. I love all the gizmos that you can get with it... helmet strap, tripod... the batteries don't last all that long so you'll need extra. I use 128GB SD cards... they last longer than the batteries. I use a separate video editing app that is a lot more robust, but for HERO pros, the video editor that comes with it might be just fine. Also I wish the battery compartment door didn't come off so easily.... but I've gotten better at not making it come off in the first place. Can I REALLY take this thing under water?!?!?

This is my third GoPro, having started with one of the first SD models, progressing to the HD model, and now to the Hero8 with 4K capability. The improvements are many over older models, starting with the 4K video it produces, which is absolutely stunning. It is great to not have to deal with (and purchase) multiple camera enclosures, add-on screens, other accessories, etc., which was the case with older GoPros. The integral viewing screen is bright and clear, and all controls are available by touch via the screen (relatively short learning curve). Many more cinematic and still options are now included compared to older models, and the camera is easier to use, in my opinion. Perhaps the best feature is the GoPro app, which allows you to use your smartphone as a mirror of the camera is seeing, and control it via your phone as well. I typically wear a GoPro on my head while hiking with my dogs, and with earlier GoPros it was always a guess as to what the camera was capturing.

The build-in stabilization is amazing. I have used this on my bike, motorcycle, and on a ski trip. (in the cold the battery is drastically reduced.) The footage is smooth and clear. but the new hero 9 might be nice with that front facing screen.

I have always wanted to dabble into the gopro field, but never did it until recently. Boy was I missing out! This action camera is top of the line, and the fact that it eliminates the shakiness of sports movements is great! Yes this camera lacks the replaceable lens that the GoPro Hero 7 Black has, but I bought glass protectors to double the safety of the glass. The bundle is great too because it comes with everything you'll need to get started. I bought a bigger memory card because I've read that shooting in 4K takes up a lot of space and that is what I intend to do. I still have not used the head band though. I wish it would've come with a chest harness instead but I can't complain. I hope I find something to use the head band with in the near future, but overall this camera is remarkable!

Last November I purchased the GoPro9 for it to be stolen the same day. Biggest difference is the screen but it honestly doesn’t bother me! Quality shots and easy to use.
