I recommend keeping a spare battery on hand. Battery life on these greatly depends on your recording quality and other features being used such as WiFi or display screen.

The gopro has pretty good battery life, but the $20 it cost me for the backup battery was well worth it just to not have to worry about running low right before a great shot.

I LOVE THIS BATTERY BECAUSE IT'S CHEAP AND EASY TO REPLACE. TAKES VERY LITTLE TO CHARGE BUT ALSO DRAINS TOO FAST IN MY OWN OPINION. BUT IT'S CHEAP TO REPLACE SO NO WORRIES.

This charger system is a must if you plan on videoing for any extended period of time. Allows you to have multiple batteries ready for the moment when needed.

It is necessary to purchase an extra battery. One battery will record for about 3.5 hours. With an extra you can charge one while recording with the other.

This battery works as expected. On important not is that this battery will only work with the hero4 or later models. it is not compatible with the hero3.

Since I had read reviews online that the battery life could be shortened by using the touch screen, it hasn't seems too bad. I can still get a far amount of recording time on a single battery. But I always have available a spare fully charged.
