The remote makes life easy, especially if used for skiing. It is a bit expensive and the battery does last as long as the actual gopro camera. In the cold, it lasted about 3-4 hours, so overall not too bad.

I bought this because I want a hands free approach when I'm surfing and or when I taking sunset pics and dont want to move the camera. Mainly for surfing since I mount the camera on the board and control the camera from my wrist.

I bought the remote for my family since my parents were going to Hawaii and I was headed to Boston for vacation. My parents loved it! I absolutely loved it! It was easier to manage and take a picture with, instead of having to you my app on the phone.

Camera is very easy to use. The pictures it takes are incredibly clear. I would definitely recommend it to a friend or family member. My wife has taken some amazing recording. Great Camera!!!

The remote is just the right size, has a lot of functionality, and is waterproof, what more could you ask for?

I never had a gopro before but there's no doubt that this Gopro is just what I wanted. Videos looked amazing, and the picture quality is great. the screen was really important for me as well. Overall, I am really happy with this product.

If conditions are perfect, the video and photos are great. Pictures blur when you are moving, and the night quality isn't the greatest. But I love the camera overall. You can literally take it anywhere and daytime pictures turn out amazing.

I didn't hesitate to buy this remote right away and I couldn't be happier. It xomes in very handy when you need to operate the camera while mounted on your helmet or away from you.

I'm not 100% sure that I really still need this remote. I took my go pro to Maui and the hand full of times I took pix and vid, I used my hand to grab the go pro. Habit maybe but when I did use the remote I forgot to turn off the go pro and drained the battery. I'm going to keep using it but the value added is when I absolutely want to get a shot while the go pro is not in my hands and when I decide to sell, others will want the remote as a complete package. Biggest gripe is the price. This remote isn't worth more than $50

I have a GoPro Hero3 that I use to record videos while kayaking and kayak fishing. In my opinion the GoPro Smart Remote is expensive for what it is so I was hesitant to purchase it. But I needed a way to turn my GoPro on while in the kayak since my camera is mounted on a post behind me. I purchased the Smart Remote in December, 2015. I used the remote this summer on a handful of fishing and kayaking trips and it seemed to work fine however it will drain your GoPro battery quickly. I wear the remote on my wrist with the wrist strap provided with the remote. On my last fishing trip in August the remote would power on and then immediately shut off. I assumed I did not get it charged even though I had it plugged in overnight. When I got home I plugged the remote in and noticed it would not charge. I got on the Gopro website to troubleshoot this problem and noticed that this is a common problem when using the remote near salt water. The remote are susceptible to corrosion if and they advised to clean the metal tabs with alcohol. When I went to do this I noticed a bunch of little cracks around the screws on the back cover of the remote on the end where the charger plugs in. My initial thought was that I must have hit the remote on something to cause the cracks but keep in mind the back of the remote is against my wrist when I wear it. I also wear a $50 watch on my other wrist and it has lasted through years on kayaking and fishing. I contacted GoPro support to see if 1.) is the damage covered under warranty since it was only eight months old, and 2.) if not covered under warranty can I pay to get the remote fixed? GoPro support (which was foreign) instructed me to send emails and pictures of the remote which I did. They emailed back with what looked to be a canned response (with poor English) asking me to again send the emailed pictures. Which I did again. They sent another canned response (with poor English) stating that the damage was not covered under warranty. Additionally they said they would not fix the remote. Essentially saying it is a disposable product if ever damaged. I asked if I could purchase a new back cover for the remote. They sent another canned response almost identical to the others but stated they would offer me a 20% discount towards a new Remote. I emailed again stating I wasn't going to pay for a new remote that only last a few months and only wanted a new back cover. I have received no response from them since. My experience is that GoPro support is very poor. The bottom line is the Smart remote is not made for use near salt water nor can it handle active use. It is poorly made using fragile plastics and will leak in water. If you plan to use it in these environments I would advise you not to buy it.

needed a way to take selfies with the wife, this remote just made everything a lot easier. between having to take shots with my dslr, to going straight to using my gopro, this was certainly a no brainer to buy when we first saw it.

This is probably the best gopro yet. Controls were excellent and I love the voice control. Image quality was excellent both in video and stills. I like the fact that I don't need a housing to keep waterproof. On the minus side the video would pixelate moving in and out of water. Don't know yet if it's the card or me. The battery life still stinks. Buy another battery and a dual charger. Better yet buy the external battery as long as you don't go under water. Otherwise a great camera.

bought this to take on trip to Europe. amazingly wide angle view on such a small camera. Doesn't auto shut-off - we ran out of battery because we didn't realize it was left on. Fortunately, we had two backup batteries with us.

His remote is a very halpful support when using the go pro camera. It is easy to use and a good tool when shooting quick pictures.

This thing is super expensive for what it simply does ( just a control no more no less) but definitely helps with those shots where everything has to be timed well or just have the cameras set very far away.

I bought this as a gift for my boyfriend. While it loves it, he has found it a little hard to figure out on his own. He loves the quality of the video though. We wish we had the option of zooming in on the camera though.

I bought this item because I have (2) GoPro’s and wanted to remotely control both. This is especially helpful in syncing start & stop recordings on both cameras and making setup changes. I definitely like the remote app (phone & Ipad) better, but it cannot connect to (2) GoPro’s simultaneously and I’ve had connection problems / lockups when trying to switch connections from one to the other. However, the smart remote is more reliable and you do get some feedback as to what the camera is doing.

First thing first, I’m new to GoPro and can’t say I’ve been wowed! The bought this because the electric selfie stick with the capture button was way out of my price range. This little device does its job but I don’t love it. If you’re looking to have a way to take pictures using a selfie stick but want to avoid the $$$ mechanical selfie stick, then I would recommend this. Wish it came with more detailed directions.

was easy to pair, makes recording remotely so much easier and I don't have to edit out my voice in my videos. I like to video when kayaking and my mount for the go pro is forward enough that it makes it hard for me to reach to turn off and on, and sometimes I dont want to use the voice control as it scares the wildlife I am trying to capture. This works so well. I am so glad I bought it!
