This remote is pricey for how often I will use it, but how else do you capture those group selfie shots when the camera is at the far end of a selfie stick? Works great. Easy to use, easy to recharge.

I purchased this to go with my Hero4 and the pole i use that has a place on the handle for the remote. I used the pair when we went to the beach and it made using the GoPro so easy, totally worth having.

My family and I used the remote during a family outing to a theme park and waterpark. The remote made using the GoPro very easy and capturing the action around us fun and simple. Definitely worth it!

Definitely recommend buying this remote. Great for controlling your GoPro when it’s at a distance from you and you can attach the remote to your wrist like a watch. Must buy!!!

The GoPro Smart Remote is a must have. It makes taking pictures and video very easy and hands free from the camera. From selfies to action video, I don't know how you can function without it!

What a great camera!! I attach it to my Drag Racing truck to get video of my runs down the track. Very clear footage and no shake or vibration in the picture at all. I'll be buying another soon.

It was a gift for my husband who states it is a nice option to have and finds it quite useful when needed. He would recommend it for any GoPro user.

Really like having a remote, especially one that is waterproof. I use this when kayaking and do not have any worries even when I roll the kayak

The controls on the camera are easy to use but with the remote makes it easier to start recording even with my hands on the motorcycle handlebars.

I purchased this for use with my Silver 4 and love it! It gives me hands free use for on-the-go Action. The waterproof feature really gives it that extra oompf for that all-around versatility.

It has been a great purchase and it works awesome. I took it with me white water rafting and wake boarding and it has been very handy. Would recommend to anyone looking for something like this.

This remote is very useful and is a huge timesaver, especially if you're operating multiple cameras at the same time. The highlight feature makes finding the clip that you want fast and easy.

I bought this remote to be able to easily take selfie pics/videos with my GoPole. There is no point in getting the GoPole without this. Easy to use and pair, my only complaint is the battery life.

Just took this remote with my go pro on a cruise. We used it on the jeep ride and got some awesome pictures. Also used on beach. This was a gift and I'll love using it snowboarding also.

The GoPro Smart Remote works well with the HERO5 Black... but is it needed since the camera has voice recognition for triggering the recording? I went back and forth on this purchase... trying to justify if I needed the GoPro Smart Remote for my GoPro usage. In the end I think it is worth it for the following reasons: 1) Provides a silent way to stop video recording remotely (already tired of hearing my voice at the end of my clips) 2) Quick indication of the HERO5 status when it's mounted on your helmet/chest strap or someplace where you cannot see the camera front/back display. 3) Better accuracy in noisy environments or at long range 4) Able to control multiple cameras at same time 5) Better than trying to use the GoPro smartphone app Only shortcomings I have are... - Poor velcro wrist strap design that is uncomfortable to wear directly on your wrist(and barely fits over my wrist... Much less over a ski jacket sleeve) - Another device with a battery to charge and check (but when fully charged easily outlasts the run time of the HERO5 camera battery) In summary the voice recognition trigger capabilities on the HERO5 are great but the Smart Remote adds a bit more flexibility. Just wish the wrist strap was more functional and that the cost was lower ($50 vs $80) as it would of made it a much easier purchase decision for what it does. One last point... I think the Smart Remote is a much better option that the Voice Activated Remote as the display lets you see the current device/recording status at a glance.

Works extremely well. I use this with the GoPro stick. I also started using it to take great group pics by setting the GoPro up at a distance. The remote is small enough to be hidden.

Small and compact, this is a great tool for anyone needing remote access to their camera. Able to change nearly any setting on the camera, its battery is charged from any Mini USB cable.

The remote worked great, but it appears to have started to deteriorate, at the charging portion of the remote. I have to fiddle with the remote in order for it to charge.

I am electronically challenged, so after a little assistance I'm off and running. Having fun, great photos and video. Being old school, I wish I bought a gopro with a view finder screen.

The Smart Remote is definitely a great step-up from the v1 model. the tagging feature is awesome if you use GoPro Studio to edit your footage. The buttons a just the right sizes. The screen is a god size, too, and has plenty of information displayed. My biggest disappointment with this product is the battery life. It's awful. Maybe 4 hours of use. I had to buy a second remote for when my primary one dies. My first one of these broke after 13 months. It just didn't want to turn on. GoPro replaced it after an odd customer service experience.
