Fun for cruising around the neighborhood!

The GoTrax G6 electric scooter is a lot of fun to ride on! Personally, I am using the scooter to cruise around my neighborhood. It’s easy to use once you get it set up and it’s a pretty smooth ride on the roads. The accelerator (or throttle) has great resistance so it feels smooth and natural to increase speed. It also comes with a bell already installed which is convenient because this scooter is very quiet. Upon powering up, the default speed setting is 2nd gear (0-15.5 mph). On my first try, I switched it to 1st gear, Pedestrian mode (0-3 mph) which is exactly what it sounds like, it doesn’t go beyond walking speed. 2nd gear is where I like to stay so I’m glad it’s the default. To really get the scooter going, you kick push the scooter for a bit until it registers 1 or 2 mph, then you can get on and push the throttle to ramp up some speed. I’m most comfortable riding steadily around 8-10 mph, and I find that I’m not willing to go over 13 mph, even though the max speed is 20 mph which can be achieved in 3rd gear (0-20 mph). I could have gone with a smaller model that goes up to 15 mph max and been happy as well but I like this scooter nonetheless. The G6 electric scooter features front and rear suspension which I am able to take advantage of when there’s a road reflector to go over or a driveway to go up on. The G6 is a big scooter so the suspension is a must in my opinion. Visibility lighting is another must and this model comes with a headlight, blue strip lighting along the base of the scooter, and a flashing brake light. I like that the battery for this scooter lasts all week, especially when I use it for 10-20 minutes a day. There are a few built-in items like a bell, a wire safety lock with a number combination, and a clip. I have small hands so I really have to reach for the bell. The built-in wire lock is a little tricky to get back into place. In theory it’s nice to have but it’s a thin cable so I’d probably get something sturdier if needed. The box that it ships in is large and secure. There was plenty of cardboard padding throughout so it arrived in mint condition. I appreciate that it comes partially assembled, for example, the brake lines are already in place. The manual isn’t written very well, so some instructions took a while to understand but I was eventually able to adjust the brakes and input the passcode. It took me an hour to unpack everything and assemble the scooter. I got it set up to charge for about 6 hours and came back the next day to turn it on and take it for a spin. The smoother the ground, the better the ride! It’s so much fun to zip around on. The fact that it’s electric really makes it so I get the most out of my time outdoors. I can reach more distance in the same time I’d be walking so the scooter has really expanded my routes and scenery. Overall, it’s a very fun scooter and I highly recommend it to anyone looking for a scooter of this size and speed.

This scooter is Zippy! It was not too difficult to assemble the handle bar section when it’s out of the box. I was in the market for a scooter for my commute to work. I would have originally gone with an electric bike but they are weirdly bulky and they are not designed to be bus bike-rack friendly. A scooter seemed like the best option for my situation. I like that it has a front headlight, lights underneath the body, and even a break light on the back end. It has a pedestrian mode to walk with the support of the motor, and a sport mode that allows you to reach up to 20mph. Since i can park it indoors i havnt really familiarized myself the security system situation. (I wish there were an option to disable the start up lock?) but it seems secure enough to deter theft :) My biggest issue is the overheating. I would recommend some other alternative if you live in an area with lots of hills and have to travel longer distances. At $800 i would have expected it to have something to help with cooling but i don’t believe it does. The distance you can travel from a single charge sounds great but I dont think would ever be able to reach 48 miles under my conditions. - i weight 220 pounds - Washington state is naturally very hilly - the distance i travel during each ride (~8miles) So far the farthest ive gone is 20 miles on a single charge with 2 charged “bars” (1/4 charge i think?) left from being fully charged. Im pushing this scooter to its limits. So take this review as just a unique experience and not a generalization for this scooter.

Fun for Joyriding, not the best for commuting

I'll start by saying what a blast this scooter is to ride. This is the first time I've ever used one, and it was really hard to get off because I was having so much fun. Once you get used to how quickly it accelerates, it's like riding a bike. There is a digital display that tells you how fast you're going, the throttle its in, the distance you've gone, and the battery charge. Accelerate using a thumb trigger on the right side, and brake with the handle bar breaks. Couldn't be easier. Even comes with a bell and lights on the rear, front, and sides. So it's really fun, but it's billed as a commuter, and I just don't think it's the best option for me to get to and from places like work. First off, it's heavy. Really heavy. I have10 steps I have to go up to get to my house, so I have to carry this thing up the stairs and it's taxing. Second, it states that the scooter shouldn't be used when it's wet, and you can void the warranty. I live in the Pacific Northwest; so what they're saying is that I can only use this scooter like 5 months out of the year. I see electric scooters for rent all over the place, and they are out in the rain all the time, so not sure what gives. I would think they would design a scooter to be a bit more versatile. So not being able to use it in wet conditions is a big deal, especially for me. Other things worth mentioning: 1) Good security features - has a code to start it up and a built in cable with passcode to secure it (the only drawback is that the start up code is clunky, as you have to use the throttle and brake to change the number, and the cable doesn't retract so you have to shove back into the handlebar); 2) I can't quite figure out how to fold the handle bar down. I eventually get it down, but it's not really because I know how to get the latch out. I just wiggle it around until it gives; and 3) quality control issues - the handlebar on the scooter came scratched up and the covering on the brake cable came worn through in places. All in all, this scooter is really fun to play around with. If you're looking for a primary commuting option, however, I would look elsewhere.

    Overall great mid-tier electric scooter

The GoTrax G6 Commute Electric Scooter is an overall great mid-tier option with some minor drawbacks. I predominantly use it to cruise around the neighborhood. • Unboxing: The scooter was well packed in the box, so much so that it was actually kind of challenging to lift out due to its weight and that the handlebars were not fully assembled hanging from the brake lines. Assembly is straightforward and only required me to install 4 screws with the provided tool. Prior to using the scooter, you need to charge it. The manual states it can take up to 7 hours. I didn’t time it, but I would guess it only took half that amount of time. • Build quality – The build quality at this price range is right where I would expect it to be. It is made from a nicely coated metal alloy that is resistant to dents and scuffs. It has a dual latch mechanism for securing the vertical bar which is great for both stability and assurance that it will not become loose and fall while riding. The latch is easy to disconnect for folding and carrying; however, it does weigh 51 lbs. and could be challenging for some to carry due to the weight. The braking mechanism comes assembled even though the manual has step-by-step instructions on assembling it yourself. It only supports a rider’s weight up to 220 lbs. or 264 lbs. depending on where you look. I couldn’t find what happens if you weigh more than this, but I would guess you might experience premature motor failure or decreased range? One thing to check before you go riding is the tire pressure. It states the tire pressure should be 50 psi; however, mine was only around 30 psi front and back. The issue I have with the wheel design is that the rear tube stem is so far recessed behind the plastic cover that a standard tire inflator does not fit. The adaptor that is provided is useless unless you have a specific pump/compressor. I ended up having to buy my own adaptor to inflate the rear tire. This is a huge oversight by whoever designed this. Make the stem come out far enough that any compression attachment will work. Alternatively, use tubeless tires. • Performance – Overall, the performance is pretty solid. It can go up to 20 mph and maintain this speed with ease on flat ground. Unfortunately, steep hills significantly reduce its top speed down towards 10-12ish mph. The S mode seems to be a little jerky with acceleration comparted to the D mode. Keeping a steady speed for over 10 seconds will engage cruise control mode. The manual states 28-32 miles per charge. Their website states up to 25-35 miles per charge. Other websites say up to 48 miles per charge. As a consumer this is confusing and there should be one concise answer – a range up to “X”. Mileage will vary :P • Safety and security – It has some nice security features including a 3-digit password to ride as well as an antitheft device built into the vertical bar. There is a headlight, brake light, lights along the base, and a bell on the handlebar.

This is the second electric scooter I have owned, but my first from GoTrax. This G6 model was MUCH better than my last scooter that was similarly priced, in pretty much every way. Pros: - The power that this scooter has was impressive. I was able to climb fairly steep hills without any difficulty. Acceleration was great, but you can control how aggressively you want to accelerate as the switch is well designed. - The weight allowance is 264 pounds. I'm 175 and it felt very sturdy under my weight and I have no doubt that larger folks can ride easily. - Set-up was pretty simple and could probably be done without instructions. I just had to lift up the steering column, connect a power cable, insert the handlebars, and insert 4 screws. But you definitely need instructions on how to operate the scooter as there is a bit of a learning curve. - Having 3 speed settings was nice. I almost always used "D" mode which maxes at 15.5MPH. The max performance mode ("S") can get you up to 20MPH. I don't use this much unless I'm in an area without sharp turns and without motor vehicles nearby. But it's nice to have if you have some safe straightaways to punch it! - The locking features are nice to have. There's a default number code you use when first starting up the scooter and can change it to whatever 3 digit number you want. You'll have to enter the number each time you turn it on. This doesn't prevent someone from carrying your scooter off, but they can't ride away on it at 20MPH as they won't have access to power without the code. A physical anti-theft device is also built-in if you like that option. A personal 4 digit code for this lock can also be created. - The headlight, rear light (brake light), and atmosphere lights along the base all function well. The atmosphere lights are a nice feature for night riding so other people/drivers can see you from the side. - The console display is well designed, giving you all the information you need but not being too cluttered. I particularly liked having a mileage tracker. And having a single button to toggle most functions keeps things simple. Cons: - The instructions caused a little confusion as it seems they are used for multiple models that don't always have the same set-up steps. For instance, my package had an insert card with instructions on how to install the brake cables, but mine were pre-installed. - Pedestrian mode (the slowest mode that keeps you no higher than 3MPH), was pretty much too slow to keep my balance. I can't imagine ever using this mode. Maybe 4MPH would have been a better max? - The battery is built-in so it can't be removed for charging or replaced easily if it goes bad. - Some of the wording is weird in the instructions, especially around setting and changing the digital codes, making it hard to understand. ("...on the change password mode even 4 times the power button...") Overall, I was very pleased with this scooter and love seeing how newer models keep getting better and better as the technology keeps improving. Nice job GoTrax! I think they made a great scooter here.

I bought this thing in December and it has been nothing but great for me. The build quality is very good no creaks or rattles that are out of the ordinary, the display is clear and simple and the blue lights on the side of the scooter are a nice touch at night. The scooter is a bit heavy and big but it makes up for it in range and power no problem. I would definitely recommend buying this scooter and it is a no brainer if caught on sale.

Was looking for a replacement scooter after my first one had trouble holding a charge. Decided to try the GoTrax G6 since it seemed to check a lot of the boxes that I liked in terms of performance, range and price. The scooter came well packaged without any issue. The setup took a few minutes which was attaching the handle to the scooter. The scooter uses the power button for a lot of the options which I had to look up online but not a big deal. The scooter ride is incredibly smooth and nice. Definitely would be nice to have better setup instructions in the box but overall great product so far.

I am beyond happy with my purchase. The G6 Commute is perfect for the person that is looking for a quick scooter that is well built and you do not have to worry about having enough battery! I am 6'4" 235lbs and this scooter still gets up to 20mph!! The range is no where close to the 48 as advertised. Closer to 25/30. For someone that weighs less, I am sure it will go farther.

Pros: Smooth ride for the most part. Great braking with double handles instead of one. Cons: Max output for speed only lasts the first 20% of battery, then top speed is between 17-18mph. Also rear went flat with nothing puncturing it. No hard hits to it either. Now got to figure out how to replace tube! Hopefully I can find a suitable replacement, thinking one of those tubeless tires, not solid or air filled. Last but not least took a bit how to figure out how to properly collapse to fold and lock, which doesn’t always want to unlock without a struggle. Love the security features to an extent, onboard cable lock isn’t really going to stop anyone, but the electronic combo is super nice and very effective.

I am not going to lie at all, its called the commute series but it would be absolutely horrible to commute with it. The huge battery definitely has some weight to it so i hated carrying it in and off the busses and trolley. Other than the size it's great. I wish the headlight was wider and brighter. The headlight just focuses into a somewhat dim square (1'x1') on the ground. I love this scooter but will definitely buy a less bulky more compact one for my lifestyle next time.

High quality scooter - great for taller individuals. Lots of power for uphill. Used for college student on campus. Ease of use is a little tricky with everything being the number of clicks of one button for things like lights or speed or on/off, or to have a password. Love the built in cable / lock.
